Scope*1.1 This specification2covers aluminum-alloy permanentmo

3、ld castings designated as shown in Table 1.1.2 This specification is not intended for aluminum-alloypermanent mold castings used in aerospace applications.1.3 Alloy and temper designations are in accordance withANSI H35.1/H35.1(M). The equivalent unified numberingsystem alloy designations are in acc

4、ordance with PracticeE527.1.4 Unless the order specifies the “M” specification desig-nation, the material shall be furnished to the inch-pound units.1.5 For acceptance criteria for inclusion of new aluminumand aluminum alloys and their properties in this specification,see Annex A1 and Annex A2.1.6 U

5、nitsThe values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. Thevalues stated in each system may not be exact equivalents;therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other.Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance wit

Responsibility for Quality Assurance5.1 Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchaseorder, the producer shall be responsible for the performance ofall inspections and test requirements

41、 specified herein. Unlessotherwise agreed upon, the producer may use his own or anyother suitable facilities for the performance of the inspectionand test requirements specified herein. The purchaser shallhave the right to perform any of the inspections and tests setforth in the specification where

42、such inspections are deemednecessary to confirm that the material conforms to prescribedrequirements.6. Manufacture6.1 The responsibility of furnishing castings that can be laidout and machined to the finished dimensions within thepermissible variations specified, as shown on the blueprints ordrawin

43、gs, shall rest with the producer, except where moldequipment is furnished by the purchaser.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The product shall conform to the chemical compositionlimits prescribed in Table 1. Conformance shall be determinedby the producer by taking samples at the time castings arepoured in

44、accordance with E716 and analyzed in accordancewith E607, E1251, E34,orCEN EN 14242. If the producer hasdetermined the composition of the material during casting, theyshall not be required to sample and analyze the finishedproduct.7.2 If it becomes necessary to analyze castings for confor-mance to c

45、hemical composition limits, the method used tosample castings for the determination of chemical compositionshall be by agreement between the producer and the purchaser.Analysis shall be performed in accordance with E716, E607,E1251, E34,orCEN EN 14242 (ICP method).7.3 Other methods of analysis or in

46、 the case of a dispute themethod of analysis shall be agreed upon by the producer andthe purchaser.7.4 A sample for determination of chemical compositionshall be taken to represent one of the following:7.4.1 Not more than 4000 lb 2000 kg of clean castings ora single casting poured from one furnace.
