Material and Manufacture5.1 Material:5.1.1 The material of manufacture shall be annealed plate,sheet, strip, or disks of wrought Alloy UNS No. C26000processed to produce even-topped cups.5.2 Manufacture:5.2.1 The material shall be blanked and cupped to meet thecup
9、 dimensions specified, and subsequently annealed. Theannealed cups shall be pickled, washed, and dried.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The product shall conform to the requirements pre-scribed in Table 1.6.2 Composition limits may be established and analysisrequired for unnamed elements by agreement betw
10、een manu-facturer and purchaser.6.3 Either copper or zinc may be taken as the differencebetween the sum of all elements analyzed and 100 %. Copper,when determined by the difference, must conform to therequirements of Table 1. When all elements in Table 1 areanalyzed, their sum shall be 99.7 % min.7.
11、 Grain Size of Annealed Tempers7.1 Unless there is a prior agreement between the purchaserand supplier, the grain size for 0.30, 0.45, and 0.50 calibers willbe produced to the grain size requirements specified in Table 2.7.1.1 Grain size ranges other than those specified in Table 2shall be establish

15、ensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations8.1 All dimensions and tolerances of cups shall be asindicated on the drawings furnished with the purchase order orcontract.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 The cups shall be uniform in quality and shall be free ofoil, grease, oxidation, stains, scal
16、e, chips, acid, dirt or grit,dented or bent edges, laminations, slivers, laps, cracks, deepscratches, wrinkles, or other injurious defects which wouldinterfere with the purpose for which the cups are intended. Thecups, subsequent to annealing, shall be pickled, washed, anddried.10. Sampling10.1 The
17、lot size, portion size, and selection of pieces shallbe as follows:10.1.1 Lot Size40 000 lb (18 144 kg) or fraction thereof.10.1.2 Portion Size:10.1.2.1 For grain size15 cups for Type I, or 2 cups forType II.10.1.2.2 For determination of dimensions200 cups.10.1.2.3 For the visual inspection2000 cups
18、.10.1.3 Samples for chemical analysis are to be taken inaccordance with Practice E 255.11. Number of Tests and Retests11.1 Specimens taken from each sample piece selected inaccordance with 10.1.2.1 shall be tested for conformance to thegrain size requirement.11.2 Retests:11.2.1 If the chemical analy
19、sis fails to conform to thespecified limits, analysis shall be made on a composite sample,prepared from the pieces selected from each portion involved,consisting of either 15 cups from Type I or two cups from TypeII. The results of this retest shall comply with the specifiedrequirements.11.2.2 Failu
20、re of more than two samples of Type I cups tocomply to the grain size requirements shall be cause forrejection of the lot. If two samples fail to comply a retest shallbe permitted on a sample double that of the original sample.Each of the specimens so retested shall meet the specifiedrequirements.11
21、.2.3 Failure of the two samples of Type II cups to complyto the grain size requirements shall be cause for rejection of thelot. If one sample fails, a retest shall be permitted on a sampledouble that of the original sample. Each of the specimens soretested shall meet the specified requirements.12. S
22、pecimen Preparation12.1 For grain size measurements, either tangential grindingand polishing, or cutting, mounting, and polishing methodsmay be used to reach the zone (Fig. 1).12.1.1 The test specimen shall be prepared in accordancewith Practice E3.12.2 Specimens for chemical analysis shall be prepa
23、red inaccordance with Practice E 255.13. 28、ion.13.4 When specified on the purchase order or contract, grainsize measurements shall also be made on the base of the samecups as 13.3. These measurements shall be made in a zoneapproximately bounding the midpoint of the base, and approxi-mately the midpoint of the thickness as shown in Fig. 1.Atl

Significance of Numerical Limits14.1 For purposes of determining compliance with thespecified limits for requirements of the properties listed in thefollowing table, an observed value or a calculated

Inspection15.1 Visual InspectionEach cup in the sample shall bevisually inspected.15.1.1 Major DefectsNot more than 0.25 % of the cups inthe sample shall contain the following major defectsscalymetal, deep scratches, laminations, slivers,
32、laps, cracks, andwrinkles.15.1.2 Minor DefectsNot more than 2 % of the cups in thesample shall contain the following minor defectsoily cup,greasy cup, dirty or gritty cup, oxidized cup, stained cup,dented or bent edges, and scratches.15.2 Measurement of DimensionsEach sample cup shallbe gaged for co
33、mpliance with all the dimensions shown on theapplicable drawing. In addition, each cup in the sample shall bemeasured for side wall thickness at two or more opposite pointson the same periphery. The variation in wall thickness of anycup so measured shall be within the limits as shown on thedrawing.N
34、OTE 1For the purpose of determining conformance with the dimen-sional requirements prescribed in this specification, any measured valueoutside the specified limiting values for any dimension may be cause forrejection.15.3 If, in addition, source inspection of the material by thepurchaser is agreed u
35、pon between the manufacturer and thepurchaser as part of the purchase order or contract, the natureof the facilities needed to satisfy the inspector representing thepurchaser that the product is being furnished in accordancewith this specification shall be included in the agreement. Alltests and the
36、 inspection shall be conducted so as not to interfereunnecessarily with the operation of the works.15.4 The manufacturer and the purchaser, by mutual agree-ment, may accomplish the final inspection simultaneously.NOTE 2A deep scratch is one 0.005 in. (0.13 mm) or greater in depth.16. Rejection and R
37、ehearing16.1 Rejection:16.1.1 Product that fails to conform to specification require-ments when inspected or tested by the purchaser or his agentmay be rejected.16.1.2 Rejection shall be reported to the manufacturer orsupplier promptly and in writing.16.1.3 In case of dissatisfaction with the result
38、s of the testupon which rejection is based, the manufacturer or suppliermay make a claim for a rehearing.16.2 Rehearing:16.2.1 As a result of product rejection, the manufacturer orsupplier may make claim for a retest to be conducted by themanufacturer or supplier and the purchaser.16.2.2 Samples of
39、the rejected product shall be taken inaccordance with the product specification and tested by bothparties following the test method(s) specified in the productspecification, or, alternatively, upon agreement of both parties,an independent laboratory may be selected for the test(s)following the speci
40、fied test methods.17. Certification17.1 When specified in the contract or purchase order, thepurchaser shall be furnished certification that samples repre-senting each lot have been either tested or inspected as directedin this specification and the requirements have been met.18. Packaging and Packa
41、ge Marking18.1 The product shall be separated by type and size, andprepared for shipment in such a manner as to ensure acceptanceby common carrier for transportation and to afford protectionfrom the normal hazards of transportation.18.2 Each shipping unit shall be legibly marked with thepurchase ord
42、er number, type, size, gross and net weight, andname of supplier. The specification number shall be shown,when specified.18.3 In addition to the above, specific instructions appearingon the purchase order or contract, or issued by the contractingofficer, shall be adhered to, unless by mutual agreeme
43、nt, otherprovisions are established.19. Test Report19.1 When specified in the contract or purchase order, areport of test results shall be furnished.20. TemperS4.1 Type I cups except the caliber 0.50 (three draw), 20mm and 30 mm cup, shall conform to a grain size requirementof 0.060 to 0.120 mm in the mid-sidewall and the grain sizeshall not exceed 0.150 mm in the base. The grain size for thecaliber 0.50 (three draw), 20 mm and 30 mm cup shall bewithin 0.070 to 0.140 mm in the mid-sidewall and shall notexceed 0.170 mm in the base.
