1、Designation: B 3 01 (Reapproved 2007)Standard Specification forSoft or Annealed Copper Wire1This standard is issued under the fixed designation B 3; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year of originaladoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A numbe

2、r in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. A superscriptepsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers drawn and annealed or softround

3、bare copper wire for electrical purposes (see ExplanatoryNote 1).1.2 The values stated in inch-pound or SI units are to beregarded separately as standard. Each system shall be usedindependently of the other. Combining values from the twosystems may result in non-conformance with the specification.Fo

For conductorsizes designated by SI units only, the requirements are stated orderived in SI units.1.2.1 For density, resistivity and temperature, the valuesstated in SI units are to be regarded as standard.2. General Requirements (see Section 7) )5.1 Tensile Strength and ElongationThe wire shall con-form to the requirements for elongation prescribed in Table 1(see Explanatory Note 2)

11、. No requirements for tensile strengthare specified. For wire whose nominal diameter is more than0.001 in. (0.025 mm) greater than a size listed in Table 1, butless than that of the next larger size, the requirements of thenext larger size shall apply.5.2 JointsNecessary joints in the completed wire

Test Methods6.1 Tensile Strength and ElongationNo test for tensilestrength shall be required.6.1.1 Determine the elongation of wire whose nominaldiameter is larger than 0.0808 in. (2.052

18、mm) in diameter as thepermanent increase in length, expressed in percent of theoriginal length, due to the breaking of the wire in tension, measured between gage marks placed originally 10 in. (254mm) apart upon the test specimen (see Explanatory Note 4).The elongation of wire whose nominal diameter

19、is 0.0808 in.(2.052 mm) and under may be determined as described aboveor by measurements made between the jaws of the testingmachine. When the latter method is used, the zero length shallbe the distance between the jaws at the start of the tension testand be as near 10 in. (254 mm) as practicable, a

20、nd the finallength shall be the distance between the jaws at the time ofrupture. The fracture shall be between gage marks in the caseof specimens so marked or between the jaws of the testingmachine and not closer than 1 in. (25.4 mm) to either gagemark or either jaw.6.2 ResistivityDetermine the elec

Conformance Criteria (see Explanatory Note 6)7.1 Any lot of wire, the samples of which comply with theconformance criteria of this section, shall be considered ascomplying with the requirements of Section 5. Individualproduction units that fail to meet one or more of the require-

The conformance criteria for eachof the prescribed properties given in Section 5 are as follows:7.1.1 ElongationThe lot shall be considered confo

32、 The lot shall be considered to have failed to meet theelongation conformance criterion if the average of the fourspecimens is less than the elongation in Table 1 plus 2.5percentage points and elongation of any of the individualspecimens is less than the value in Table 1.7.1.1.2 If the average of th

The lot shal

If there areno failures, the lot conforms to this requirement. If there arefailures but the number of the

Failure to meet this requirementshall constitute failure
