、Designation: B 522 01 (Reapproved 2006)Standard Specification forGold-Silver-Platinum Electrical Contact Alloy1This standard is issued under the fixed designation B 522; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of l

、ast revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers 69 % gold,

、25 % silver, 6 %platinum alloy tubing, rod, wire, and sheet material for slidingelectrical contacts.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The metric equivalents of inch-pound unitsmay be approximate.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety

、 concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to become familiarwith all hazards including those identified in the appropriateMaterial Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for this product/materialas provided by the manufacturer, to establish appropriatesafety

、y thatthe finished product will have the properties and characteristicsprescribed in this specification.3.2 The material shall be finished by such operations (coldworking, annealing, turning, grinding, pickling) as are requiredto produce the prescribed properties.4. Chemical Composition4.1 Material

、produced under the specification shall meet therequirements for chemical composition prescribed in Table 1.5. Mechanical and Electrical Requirements5.1 The contract or order may specify ultimate tensilestrength, elongation, microhardness (Knoop or Vickers), hard-ness (Rockwell or Rockwell Superficia

、l), or a combination ofthese mechanical properties as temper criterion. If the contractor order does not specify a temper criterion, then the criterionfor temper designation will be ultimate tensile strength andelongation.5.1.1 Knoop hardness indentations shall be made so that thelong axis of the in

、denter is parallel to the rolling or drawingdirection of the material.5.2 Mechanical and electrical properties shall conform tothe requirements of Table 2 and Table 3.5.3 All test specimens shall be the supplied size whenpractical.5.4 All tests are to be conducted at room temperature (65 to80F) (18
