Ordering Information4.1 Orders for zinc alloy ingot under this specification shallinclude information as specified in Specification B949, Section4.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 The producer sh
17、all use care that each shipment of CGGalloy be as uniform in quality as possible.6. Chemical Requirements6.1 CGG alloy shall conform to the requirements of Table 1as determined by chemical analysis by the producer on samplestaken at his plant (see Section 9).6.2 Chemical requirement procedures shall
18、 be in compli-ance with the provisions of Specification B949, Section 5.2.7. Size and Shape7.1 CGG alloy may be ordered as either jumbos, blocks, orslabs.7.1.1 CGG alloy metal may be ordered in jumbos or blocks,as specified in Specification B897.7.1.2 Jumboslarge castings of zinc or zinc alloy desig
19、nedfor handling by mechanical equipment. A jumbo usuallyweighs about 2400 lb (1087 kg). Jumbo shapes may vary,depending on the producers practice, and may be referred to asstrip jumbos or as block jumbos. The nominal weight, dimen-sions, and location of holes or openings shall be as agreed uponbetwe
20、en the producer and the customer.7.1.3 Slabssmaller castings of zinc or zinc alloy designedfor manual handling, but often handled by mechanical equip-ment.Aslab usually weighs about 55 lb (25 kg) but may weighanywhere from 40 to 60 lb (18 to 27 kg). Slabs are usuallyshipped in strapped bundles weigh
21、ing about 2200 lb (onemetric ton). Other bundle weights may be as agreed uponbetween the producer and the customer.7.1.4 Other shapes and sizes as may be agreed uponbetween the producer and the customer may be cast to thechemical requirements (Table 1) of this specification.8. Appearance8.1 CGG allo
22、y castings (jumbos and slabs) shall be free ofundue surface oxide, adhering foreign matter, and any “flash”that would interfere with handling and use.9. Sampling for Chemical Analysis9.1 Sampling procedures shall be in compliance with theprovisions of Specification B949, Section 6.10. Methods of Che
23、mical Analysis10.1 The determination of chemical composition shall bemade in accordance with Test Methods E536,orISO 3815-1,or ISO 3815-2 or other methods. In case of dispute, the resultssecured by Test Methods E536,orISO 3815-1,orISO 3815-2shall be the basis of acceptance.NOTE 1Test Methods E536 is
24、 directly applicable, in an unmodifiedform, only to alloys 3, 5, and 7. ISO 3815-1 and ISO 3815-2 are genericmethods applied to zinc and zinc alloys. Each of the methods may bemodified and formatted for the alloy to be assayed. An experiencedchemist, using suitable and/or traceable standards along w
25、ith valid qualityassurance techniques, will be able to perform and validate the methodsand demonstrate acceptable precision and accuracy.11.
