Requi
22、rement for Wires5.1 After stranding, the round aluminum wires shall con-form to the requirements of Specification B 609/B 609M for1350-0 temper, except for elongation requirements. The elon-gation shall not be less than 20 % after stranding.5.2 Before stranding, the steel core wire shall meet thereq
23、uirements of Specification B 341/B 341M, B 498/B 498M,B 502, B 606, B 802/B 802M, or B 803, whichever is appli-calbe.5.3 The stranded steel core shall meet the requirements ofSpecification B 500/B 500M or B 549, as applicable.6. Joints6.1 Electric-butt welds, cold-pressure welds, and electric-butt,
24、cold-upset welds in the finished individual aluminumwires composing the conductor may be made during thestranding process. No weld shall occur within 50 ft (15 m) ofa weld in the same wire or in any other wire of the completedconductor (see Explanatory Note 2).6.2 There shall be no joints of any kin
25、d made in the finishedcoated steel wires.7. Lay7.1 The length of lay of the various layers of wires in aconductor shall conform to Table 2 (see Explanatory Note 3).7.2 The direction of lay of the outside layer of aluminumwires shall be right hand unless otherwise specified in thepurchase order. The
26、direction of lay of the aluminum and steelwires shall be reversed in successive layers.8. Construction8.1 The ACSS may be constructed using steel core wirewith any one of ten types of protective coatings. The acceptablecore wires are galvanized steel core wires, coating Classes A,B, or C in accordan
27、ce with Specification B 498/B 498M;high-strength galvanized steel core wire in accordance withSpecification B 606; Zn-5A1-MM, coated steel core wire,coating Classes A, B, or C, in accordance with SpecificationB 802/B 802M; high-strength Zn-5A1-MM coated steel corewire in accordance with Specificatio
28、n B 803; aluminized steelcore wire in accordance with Specification B 341/B 341M;aluminum-clad core wire in accordance with SpecificationB 502.8.2 The number and diameter of the aluminum and steelwires and the area of cross section of the aluminum wires forstandard constructions are shown in Table 1
29、.9. Rated Strength of Conductor9.1 The rated strength of the completed ACSS conductorshall be taken as the aggregate strengths of the aluminum andsteel components, calculated as follows. The strength contri-bution of the aluminum wires shall be taken as that percentage,indicated in Table 3, of the s
30、um of the strengths of the 1350-0wires calculated from their minimum average tensile strengthsspecified in Specification B 609/B 609M. The strength contri-bution of the steel core wires shall be taken as that percentage,indicated in Table 3, of the sum of the strengths of the steelwires, calculated
31、from their specified nominal wire diameterand the appropriate minimum ultimate tensile strengths givenin Specification B 341/B 341M, B 498/B 498M, B 502, B 606,B 802/B 802M, or B 803, whichever is applicable.9.2 Rated strength and breaking strength values shall berounded to three significant figures
32、, in the final value only, inaccordance with the rounding method of Practice E 29.9.3 Rated strength of typical constructions are given inTable 4.10. Density10.1 For the purpose of calculating mass, cross sections, andso forth, the density of aluminum 1350 shall be taken as 0.0975lb/in.3(2705 kg/m3)
