Scope*1.1 This specification establishes the requirements for copper-zinc-tin-bismuth alloy rod, bar and wir

3、e of alloy UNS Nos.C49255, C49260, C49300, C49340, C49350, C49355, and C49360 intended for use in plumbing applications and drinking watersystems.1.2 Typically, rod and bar product made to this specification is furnished as straight lengths. Wire (H04) 0.08-0.3 in. 2-8 mminclusive is furnished in co

4、il form, and H50 shapes.1.3 UnitsThe values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values statedin each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining valuesfrom the two systems may

Terminology4.1 For definitions of terms r

16、elated to copper and copper alloys, refer to Terminology B846.5. Ordering Information5.1 Include the following information when placing orders for product under this specification, as applicable:5.1.1 ASTM designation and year of issue,5.1.2 Copper Alloy UNS designation,5.1.3 Temper (Section 8),5.1.

17、4 Dimensions, diameter, or distance between parallel surfaces,5.1.5 How furnished: straight lengths or coils,5.1.6 Quantity: total weight or total length or number of pieces of each size,5.1.7 If product is purchased for agencies of the U.S. Government (see the Supplementary Requirements section ofS

18、pecifications B249/B249M or B250/B250M for additional requirements, if specified).5.1.8 ShapesWhen product is shapes, the dimensional tolerances shall be as agreed upon between the manufacturer orsupplier and purchaser and shall be specified (see 11.1.7).5.2 The following options are available and s

19、hould be specified at the time of placing of the order when required:5.2.1 Heat identification or traceability details,5.2.2 Certification, and5.2.3 Mill Test Report.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 Materials:6.1.1 The material of manufacture shall be a form of Copper Alloy UNS Nos. C49255, C49260, C

20、49300, C49340, C49350,C49355, and C49360 of such purity and soundness as to be suitable for processing into the products prescribed herein.6.1.2 In the event heat identification or traceability is required, the purchaser shall specify the details desired.NOTE 1Due to the discontinuous nature of the

21、processing of castings into wrought products, it is not always practical to identify a specific castinganalysis with a specific quantity of finished material.6.2 Manufacture:6.2.1 The product shall be manufactured by such hot working, cold working, and annealing processes as to produce a uniformwrou

22、ght structure in the finished product.6.2.2 The product shall be hot or cold worked to the finished size, and subsequently annealed when required, to meet the temperproperties specified.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The material shall conform to the chemical composition requirements in Table 1 for the

23、copper alloy UNS Numbersspecified in the ordering information.7.2 These composition limits do not preclude the presence of other elements. By agreement between the manufacturer andpurchaser, limits may be established and analysis required for unnamed elements.7.3 For alloys in which zinc is listed a

24、s “remainder,” either copper or zinc may be taken as the difference between the sum ofresults of all elements determined and 100 %. Mechanical Property Requirements9.1 Tensile Strength Requirements:9.1.1 Product furnished under this specification shall conform to the tensile requirements prescribed in Table 2, when tested inaccordance with Test Methods E8/E8M.9.1.2 Acceptance or rejection shall b

31、e based upon the tensile properties prescribed in Table 2, Table 3, Table 4, or Table 5. ,depending on alloy and product form.10. Other Requirements10.1 Purchases for the U.S. Government Product purchased for agencies of the U.S. Government shall conform to theadditional requirements prescribed in t

Number of Tests and Retests14.1 Test:14.1.1 Chemical AnalysisChemical composition shall be determined in accordance with the element mean of the results fromat least two replicate analyses of the sa

41、mple(s).14.2 Retest:14.2.1 When requested by the manufacturer or supplier, a retest shall be permitted when results of tests obtained by thepurchaser fail to conform to the requirements of the product specification.14.2.2 The retest shall be as directed in the product specification for the initial t

42、est, except the number of test specimens shallbe twice that normally required for the specified test.14.2.3 All test specimens shall conform to the product specification requirement(s) in retest. Failure to conform shall be causefor rejection.15. Test Methods15.1 Chemical Analyses:15.1.1 In cases of

43、 disagreement, the resolution of the dispute shall be subject to agreement between the manufacturer or supplierand purchaser.
