3、1 This specification covers the minimum technical re-quirements for lathing and furring for the application ofexterior and interior portland cement-based plaster, as inSpecifications C841 or C926. These requirements do not bydefault define a unit of work or assign responsibility forcontractual purpo

4、ses, which is the purview of a contract orcontracts made between contracting entities.1.2 Where a fire resistance rating is required for plasteredassemblies and constructions, details of construction shall be inaccordance with reports of fire tests of assemblies that havemet the requirements of the

5、fire rating imposed.1.3 Where a specific degree of sound control is required forplastered assemblies and constructions, details of constructionshall be in accordance with official reports of tests conducted inrecognized testing laboratories in accordance with the appli-cable requirements of Test Met

6、hod E90.1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. Terminology3.1 DefinitionsFor definitions relating to ceilings andwalls, see Terminology C11.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 building enclosure, nsystem of building assemblie

17、sand materials designed and installed in such a manner as toprovide a barrier between different environments.3.2.2 control joint, na joint that accommodates movementof plaster shrinkage and curing along predetermined, usuallystraight, lines.3.2.3 expansion joint, na joint that accommodates move-ment

21、livery of Materials4.1 All materials shall be delivered in the original packages,containers, or bundles bearing the brand-name and manufac-turers (or suppliers) identification.5. Storage of Materials5.1 All materials shall be kept dry. Materials shall bestacked off the ground, supported on a level p

22、latform, andprotected from the weather and surface contamination.5.2 Materials shall be neatly stacked with care taken toavoid damage to edges, ends, or surfaces.5.3 Paper backed metal plaster bases shall be handledcarefully in delivery, storage, and erection to prevent punctur-ing or removal of pap

23、er.6. Materials6.1 Metallic materials including lathing, lath accessories,and fasteners shall be selected for compatibility to minimizegalvanic corrosion between adjacent metallic materials in-stalled in the cement plaster cladding assembly.6.2 Metal Plaster Bases:6.2.1 Expanded Metal LathSpecificat

25、 and environmental conditions specific to the projectlocation, such as salt air, industrial pollution, high moisture, orhumidity.6.3 Accessories:6.3.1 GeneralAll accessories shall have perforated orexpanded flanges or clips shaped to permit complete embed-ment in the plaster, to provide means for ac

26、curate alignment,and to secure attachment of the accessory to the underlyingsurface. Accessories shall be designed to receive application ofthe specified plaster thickness.6.3.2 Accessories shall be fabricated from Zinc Alloy (99 %pure zinc), galvanized (zinc-coated) steel, rigid PVC or CPVCplastic,

27、 or anodized aluminum alloy (see Specification B221).Accessories shall be free of deleterious amounts of rust, oil, orother foreign matter, which could cause bond failure orunsightly discoloration. (51 mm).6.4 ChannelsShall be cold-formed from steel with mini-mum 33 000 psi (228 MPa) yield strength and 0.0538 in.(1.37 mm) mi

Channel shall have aprotective coating conforming to Specification A653/A653MG60, or have a protective coating with an equivalentcorrosion resistance for exterior applications, or shall be coatedwith a rust inhibitive paint, for interior applications, and shallhave the fo

(19 mm) long.6.8.2 Screws for attaching metal plaster base shall befabricated in accordance with either Specification C954 orC1002, and shall have a716

38、in. (11 mm) diameter pan waferhead and a 0.120 in. (3 mm) diameter shank. Screws used forattachment to metal framing members shall be self-drilling andself-tapping. Screws used for attachment to wood framingmembers shall be sharp-point.6.8.3 StaplesFor attaching metal plaster bases to woodframing me

39、mbers, staples shall have crowns34 in. (19 mm)wide minimum.“7. Installation7.1 WorkmanshipMetal furring and lathing shall beerected so that the finished plaster surfaces are true to line(allowable tolerance of14 in. (6 mm) in 10 ft (3 m), level,plumb, square, or curved as required to receive the spe

40、cifiedplaster thickness.7.2 Hangers and Inserts:7.2.1 Hangers shall be of ample length and shall conform tothe requirements of Table 2, both as to size and maximum areato be supported, except as modified in this section.7.2.2 When 1 by316-in. (25 by 5 mm) flat inserts andhangers are used,716-in. (11

41、 mm) diameter holes shall beprovided on the center line at the lower end of the insert andupper end of the hanger to permit the attachment of the hangerto the insert. The edge of the holes in both the inserts and thehangers shall be not less than38 in. (10 mm) from the ends.7.2.3 In concrete, hanger

42、s shall be attached to insertsembedded in the concrete, or to other attachment devicesdesigned for this purpose, and able to develop full strength ofthe hanger.7.2.4 Flat, steel hangers shall be bolted to 1 by316-in. (25 by5 mm) inserts with38-in. (10 mm) diameter round-head stovebolts. (See Fig. 3.

43、)7.2.5 The nuts of the bolts shall be drawn up tight.NOTE 3Hangers required to withstand upward wind pressures shall beof a type to resist compression.
