Scope1.1 This specification establishes the criteria for acceptance,prior to

3、 installation, of clay flue liners and chimney pots usedfor conveying hot gases in masonry chimneys.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. Terminology3.1 DefinitionsClay, fire clay, shale, and su

5、rface clay areas defined in Terminology C 896.3.1.1 chimney pota pipe used at the top of the chimney toincrease draft and carry off smoke.4. Classification4.1 TypesFlue liners acceptable under this specificationshall be designated as rectangular nonmodular, rectangularmodular, round or oval.5. Mater

6、ials and Manufacture5.1 Flue liners and chimney pots shall be manufacturedfrom fire clay, shale, surface clay, or a combination of thesematerials that when formed and fired to suitable temperatures,shall yield a product that is strong, durable, serviceable, andconforms to this specification.6. Physi

7、cal and Chemical Requirements6.1 Absorption:6.1.1 The absorption of clay flue liners and chimney potsshall not exceed 8.0 % when tested in accordance with TestMethods C 301.6.1.2 Test SpecimensFive dry test specimens shall beobtained from the five flue liners or chimney pots to be testedand shall me

8、asure as closely as possible to 4 by 4 in. (100 by100 mm) per side. All rough edges shall be ground off andloose particles removed.6.1.3 If any of the test specimens fail to meet the require-ments, the manufacturer shall be allowed to retest on twoadditional specimens for each one that failed. The f

9、lues andpots will be acceptable if all the subsequent specimens forretest meet the requirements.6.2 Acid Resistance:6.2.1 This is a test used to determine the resistance of clayflue liners and chimney pots to the action of acids encounteredin chimneys. This test shall be performed only when specifie

10、d.6.2.2 The flue liner and chimney pots shall be acceptable ifthe acid soluble material does not exceed 0.25 % when testedin accordance with Test Methods C 301.6.2.3 Test SpecimensSelect one test specimen from eachsize of flue liner or chimney pot. The specimens shall measureabout 2 by 2 in. (51 by

11、51 mm) per side and weigh not morethan 200 g. They shall be sound pieces with all edges freshlybroken, free of cracks or shattered edges, and shall bethoroughly cleaned.6.3 Freeze-Thaw Cycle Test:1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee C04 onVitrified Clay Pipe and is the dir

14、chimney pots are tested in accor-dance with Test Methods C67, Section 9 on structural clay tile,there shall be no breakage and the percentage of weight lossshall not exceed 0.5 %.6.3.2 Test SpecimensFive dry test specimens shall beobtained from the five flue liners or chimney pots to be testedand sh

15、all measure as closely as possible to 4 by 4 in. (100 by100 mm) per side. All rough edges shall be ground off andloose particles removed.7. Sizes and Dimensions7.1 Flue liners shall be specified and furnished in thedimensions prescribed in Tables 1-4. When other sizes arerequired, flue liners that m

16、eet the requirements of Sections 5and 6 shall be cut and installed in the chimney.7.2 Variations in dimensions in Tables 1-4 shall not exceed612 in. (613 mm) for outside dimensions. Permissible wallthickness variation is 618 in. (63 mm) for all flue liners,except that there shall be no limit for plu

17、s variation in roundflue liners. Variations in dimensions of round flue lining shallnot exceed those shown in Table 3. The maximum difference inthe diagonal dimensions of rectangular modular flue linersshall not exceed12 in. (13 mm) for sizes up to and including 12by 12 in. (305 by 305 mm) and34 in.

18、 (19 mm) for larger sizes.7.3 Dimensions in Tables 1-4 are not to be used to determinethe effective area of the flue liner. Consult manufacturer or useactual measurements to determine effective areas of the linersfor sizing purposes.7.4 Flue liners are available in various lengths. The varia-tion in

19、 length shall not exceed 614 in./ft (621 mm/m). Themaximum difference in length of the opposite sides of flueliners shall not exceed14 in./ft (21 mm/m) of length.8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 Flue liners and chimney pots shall be well burned andsubstantially free of laminations.8.2 Blist

20、ers shall not exceed 3 in. (76 mm) in diameter, andblisters or pimples shall not project more than18 in. (3 mm)above the surface, in sizes up to and including 1734 by 1734 in.(450 by 450 mm). For larger sizes, blisters shall not exceed 4in. (100 mm) in diameter nor project more than12 in. (13 mm)abo

21、ve the surface.8.3 Chips shall not exceed 2 in. (51 mm) in length, 2 in. (51mm) in width, and a depth of more than one half the wallthickness.9. Inspection9.1 Inspection of the material shall be agreed upon by thepurchaser and supplier as part of the purchase contract andshall be performed by a comp

22、etent inspector employed by thepurchaser. Inspection shall be made at the factory or promptlyat the point of delivery. All flue liners and chimney potsaccepted shall be plainly marked by the inspector. Rejected flueliners and chimney pots shall not be defaced but shall bereplaced by the manufacturer
