Scope1.1 This specification covers reinfo

3、rced arch-shaped con-crete pipe to be used for the conveyance of sewage, industrialwastes, storm water, and for the construction of culverts.1.2 This specification is the SI companion to SpecificationC506.NOTE 1This specification is a manufacturing and purchase specifica-tion only, and does not incl

4、ude requirements for bedding, backfill, or therelationship between field load condition and the strength classification ofpipe. However, experience has shown that the successful performance ofthis product depends upon the proper selection of the class of pipe, typeof bedding and backfill, and care t

5、hat the installation conforms to theconstruction specifications. The owner of the reinforced concrete pipespecified herein is cautioned that he must correlate the field requirementswith the class of pipe specified and provide inspection at the constructionsite.2. Terminology3.1 DefinitionsFor definitions of terms relating to con-crete pipe, see Terminology C822.4. Classification4.1 Pipe manufactured according to this specification shallbe of

11、three classes identified as ClassA-II,A-III, andA-IV. Thestrength requirements are prescribed in Table 1.5. Basis of Acceptance5.1 Unless otherwise designated by the owner at the time of,or before placing an order, there are two separate and alterna-tive bases of acceptance. Independent of the metho

12、d ofacceptance, the pipe shall be designed to meet both the 0.01-in.crack and ultimate strength requirements.5.1.1 Acceptance on Basis of Plant Load Bearing Tests,Material Tests, and Inspection of Manufactured Pipe for VisualDefects and ImperfectionsAcceptability of the pipe in alldiameters and clas

16、6.6, by an absorption testof the concrete from the wall of the pipe as required in 11.9;and by visual inspection of the finished pipe to determine itsconformance with the accepted design and its freedom fromdefects.5.1.2 Acceptance on the Basis of Material Test and Inspec-tion of Manufactured Pipe f

17、or Defects and ImperfectionsAcceptability of the pipe in all diameters and classes producedin accordance with 7.1 or 7.2 shall be determined by the resultsof such material tests as are required in accordance with 6.2,6.3, 6.5, and 6.6; by crushing tests on concrete cores or curedconcrete cylinders;

18、by an absorption test of the concrete fromthe wall of the pipe for each mix design that is used on anorder; and by inspection of the finished pipe, including amountand placement of reinforcement, to determine its conformancewith the accepted design and its freedom from defects.5.1.3 When agreed upon

19、 by the owner and the manufacturer,any portion or any combination of the tests itemized in 5.1.1 or5.1.2 may form the basis of acceptance.5.2 Age for AcceptancePipe shall be considered ready foracceptance when they conform to the requirements as indicatedby the specified tests.6. Materials6.1 Reinfo

20、rced ConcreteThe reinforced concrete shallconsist of cementitious materials, mineral aggregates, andwater, in which steel has been embedded in such a manner thatthe steel and concrete act together.6.2 Cementitious Materials:6.2.1 CementCement shall conform to the requirementsof Specification C150, o

21、r shall be portland blast-furnace slagcement, or slag modified portland cement, or portland-pozzolan cement conforming to the requirements of Specifica-tion C595, except that the pozzolan constituent in the Type IPportland pozzolan cement shall be fly ash and shall not exceed25 % by weight.6.2.2 Gro

32、ss C of Specification C618.6.2.4 Allowable Combinations of Cementitious MaterialsThe combination of cementitious materials used in the concreteshall be one of the following:6.2.4.1 Portland cement only,6.2.4.2 Portland blast furnace slag cement only,6.2.4.3 Slag modified portland cement only,6.2.4.4

33、 Portland pozzolan cement only,6.2.4.5 A combination of portland cement and groundgranulated blast-furnace slag,6.2.4.6 A combination of portland cement and fly ash,6.2.4.7 A combination of portland cement, ground granu-lated blast-furnace slag (not to exceed 25 % of the totalcementitious weight) an

34、d fly ash (not to exceed 25 % of thetotal cementitious weight, or6.2.4.8 A combination of portland pozzolan cement and flyash, provided the fly ash added does not exceed 25 % byweight of the portland pozzolan cement.6.3 AggregatesAggregates shall conform to SpecificationC33 except that the requireme

35、nt for gradation shall not apply.6.4 Admixtures and BlendsThe following admixtures andblends are allowable:6.4.1 Air-entraining admixture conforming to SpecificationC260;6.4.2 Chemical admixture conforming to SpecificationC494/C494M;6.4.3 Chemical admixture for use in producing flowingconcrete confo

36、rming to Specification C1017/C1017M; and6.4.4 Chemical admixture or blend approved by the owner.6.5 Steel ReinforcementReinforcement shall consist ofwire conforming to Specification A82/A82M or SpecificationA496/A496M; or of wire reinforcement conforming to Speci-fication A185/A185M or Specification

37、 A497/A497M;orofbars conforming to Specification A36/A36M, SpecificationA615/A615M Grade 40 or 60, or Specification A706/A706MGrade 60.6.6 Synthetic FibersCollated fibrillated virgin polypropy-lene fibers may be used, at the manufacturers option, inconcrete pipe as a nonstructural manufacturing mate

38、rial. OnlyType III synthetic fibers designed and manufactured specifi-cally for use in concrete and conforming to the requirements ofSpecification C1116 shall be accepted.7. Design7.1 Size and DimensionsThe standard sizes of arch pipeare listed in Table 1. The internal dimensions for each standardsi

43、herein are intended to beamplifications of the tabulated requirements and are to beconsidered applicable and binding as if they were contained inthe body of the specification.7.3 Modified and Special Designs:7.3.1 If permitted by the owner, the manufacturer mayrequest approval by the owner of modifi

44、ed designs that differfrom the designs in this Section 7 or special designs for sizesand loads beyond those shown in Table 1, or special designs forpipe sizes that do not have steel reinforcement areas shown inTable 1.7.3.2 Such modified or special designs shall be based onrational or empirical eval

45、uations of the ultimate strength andcracking behavior of pipe and shall fully describe to the ownerany deviations from the requirements of this Section 7. Thedescriptions of modified or special designs shall include thewall thickness, the concrete strength, and the area, type,placement, number of la

46、yers, and strength of the steel rein-forcement.7.3.3 The manufacturer shall submit to the owner proof ofthe adequacy of the proposed modified or special design. Suchproof may comprise the submission of certified three-edge-bearing tests already made, which are acceptable to the owneror, if such thre

47、e-edge-bearing tests are not available or accept-able, the manufacturer may be required to perform proof testson sizes and classes selected by the owner to demonstrate theadequacy of the proposed design.7.3.4 Such pipe must meet all of the test and performancerequirements specified by the owner in a

48、ccordance withSection 5.7.4 AreaIn this specification, when the word area is notdescribed by adjectives, such as cross-sectional or single wire,it shall be understood to be the cross-sectional area ofreinforcement per unit lengths of pipe.8. Reinforcement8.1 Circumferential ReinforcementA line of ci

49、rcumferen-tial reinforcement for any given total area may be composed oftwo layers for pipe with wall thicknesses of less than 180 mmor three layers for pipe with wall thicknesses of 180 mm orgreater. The layers shall not be separated by more than thethickness of one longitudinal plus 6 mm. The multiple layersshall be fastened together to form a single cage. All otherspecification requirements such as laps, welds, and tolerancesof placement in the wall of the pipe, etc., shall apply to thismethod of fabricating a line of reinforcement.8.1.1 Where one line o
