It has a population of just over 100,000. It attracts tourists most of the year, but there

7、are rarely too many of them. It is an administrative centre and has a stadium and a university. The centre has many office buildings. The oldest part of the town is by the sea. It extends along the coast for about two kilometres and inland for about one kilometre. There are still many old buildings

8、there that have been maintained. Many of them are hundreds of years old. There is a fort overlooking the old port, where people keep their boats. The more modem commercial port is further down the coast. It has changed a lot over the last fifty years, but not so much in the last ten or twenty. Durin

9、g the last fifty years, the town has grown a lot with the addition of new residential areas inland. The commercial port was built about forty years ago and that increased the number of businesses in the town. In more recent years, the number of tall office buildings and hotels has increased and has

10、changed the skyline. There has been a big increase in the number of vehicles in the town and the local government recently banned heavy vehicles from using certain roads and banned cars from the historical centre completely. Meals My favourite meal is dinner. I like to go out with family of friends

11、for a meal at a restaurant in the historic part of town. It is fairly quiet and the atmosphere is nice. Sometimes, I even miss lunch so that I can enjoy an extra-large dinner! I usually eat quite a big breakfast though. I usually eat sandwiches that I make for myself at home in the mornings. Theres

12、a canteen at my workplace, but I dont like the food there very much and it is a little expensive. I do eat snacks, but I have two good meals each day and a smaller lunch. If I have a snack, I try to eat some fruit. Apples and bananas are my favourites! I have to admit that I dont always eat a health

13、y snack and it is not unusual to find me eating a bar of chocolate or biscuits. I think that breakfast is the most important even though I prefer dinner. A good breakfast helps prepare a person for a day of work or study, in my opinion. I have read magazine articles that say this too. I dont think l

14、unch is important, because you can always have a larger meal in the evening to compensate. Drawing and painting I cant paint at all, but I can draw reasonably well. When I was a teenager, I enjoyed it very much, but now I dont draw much at all. I like going to art galleries there are several good sm

15、all ones in my hometown. I draw something . oh, I dont know . maybe . once or twice a month, not more than that. As I said, I dont paint at all. I think most kids like drawing and painting and I was no exception. I used to draw people, building and scenery. As a teenager, I would often spend part of

16、 the weekend sitting outside drawing. When I was a child, my paintings were awful! I recently found a few hidden away in a box they were unrecognisable! I mean, you cant even tell which is the top and which is the bottom! I think they both are. I think that painting is more difficult than drawing th

21、 other. I dont like people who are rude or selfish. I find rude people very offensive. Selfish people are terrible to be with because they fail to take into account what other people might like to do. I also dont like people who shout a lot. I mean, its fine if you are at a football match, but not i

22、n a restaurant or art gallery. Its inexcusable behaviour. Dont tell my parents, but I prefer spending time with my best friend. Shes really fun to be with. Im a little shy and not very outgoing, whilst she is quite the opposite! Shes fun loving and full of energy. Its wonderful to be with her. Of co

23、urse, I love my parents, I dont have any siblings, but we have different interests. Most of the single people I know prefer to spend time with their friends. I think that most people feel “freer“ when they are with their friends. Friends are roughly equals, but within families there is usually a hie

24、rarchy which influences how the family members behave towards one another. I think that being around your boss is a little difficult. I mean, you always have to consider your working relationship as well as your personal one. If you have a problem with one of those relationships, it will inevitably

25、affect the other one. Again, spending time with your friends allows you to be “freer“ and act more naturally. I like my boss, but I really wouldnt like to spend much of my free time with him. Too problematic! To be honest, I dont think its a good idea, but if a person wanted to be close friends with

26、 their boss, Id suggest that they should first be a good worker. That will get the boss attention and make him or her more inclined to be friendly. Most companies have regular parties or activities where employees can get together, so if you want to be friends with your boss, you should take those opportunities to chat with him or her and get to know them better.
