Terminology3.1 DefinitionsDefinitions shall be in accordance withTerminology C11.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.

Materials and Manufacture4.1 Members shall be manufactu

10、red from steel meeting therequirements of Specification A 1003/A 1003M.4.2 Members shall have a protective coating conforming toSpecification A 653/A 653M G 40 minimum or shall have aprotective coating with an equivalent corrosion resistance.4.3 Members shall be manufactured from steel having aminim

11、um thickness, individual measurement of 0.0179 in.(0.455 mm) before application of protective coating.5. Dimensions and Permissible Variations5.1 Studs and rigid furring channels shall have a configu-ration and steel thickness such that the system in which theyare used will carry the design transver

12、se loads without exceed-ing either the allowable stress of the steel or the allowabledesign deflection. Main beams and cross furring of gridsuspension systems shall be limited to a deflection of L/240.The manufacturer shall supply sufficient data for calculatingdesign performance.NOTE 1Allowable def

17、 of thescrew.5.1.2 Minimum width of face to which gypsum board isscrew-attached shall be not less than 114 in. (32 mm).5.1.3 Minimum lip dimension shall be316 in. (5 mm). SeeFig. 1.5.2 Members shall be manufactured within the limits asshown in Table 1 and Fig. 2.5.3 Rigid Furring ChannelsMinimum dep

(12.7 mm).5.4 Grid suspension systems include main beams and crossfurring members which mechanically interlock to form amodular supporting network. Length tolerance for grid suspen-sion members shall be

19、6116 in. (1.59 mm).5.5 Runners (track) shall be formed in a U-shaped configu-ration, having web depth compatible with those of the studs ofthe same nominal size. The runners (track) shall be designedsuch that when the studs are placed in both the top and bottomrunners (track), they are held by frict

20、ion. Minimum height offlanges shall be 1 in. (25 mm).6. Sectional Properties8.1 The sectional properties of members shall be computedin accordance with AISI Specifications for the Design ofCold-Formed

24、Steel Structural Members (See Tables 2 and 3and Figs. 1 and 3).9. Performance Requirements9.1 PenetrationWhen tested in accordance with Section10, members shall be capable of pulling the head of the screwbelow the surface of the gypsum board in less than 2 s withoutspin out.9.2 Members that can show

25、 independently verified testperformance that meets the limiting height values listed inSpecification C 754 need not meet the minimum thicknesslimitation set forth in 4.3 or the minimum section properties setforth in 8.1.10. Penetration Test10.1 Significance and UseThis test method provides aprocedur

26、e for evaluating the members ability to pull the headof a screw below the surface of gypsum board. It shall be usedto determine compliance with this specification. The degree ofperformance of this test method with service performance hasnot been determined.10.2 Apparatus shall satisfy the following:

(460 mm) long.10.5.2 For each test, one piece of wallboard, 6 in. (12.7 mm)square, shall be cut from not less than 12 in. (305 mm) from theedge or end of the

30、 wallboard.10.5.3 For each test, four pieces of kraft paper, 2 in. (51mm) square shall be cut.10.6 ProcedureAssemble the member, gypsum board andkraft paper on a rigid, flat surface. (See Fig. 4 for studs, Fig. 5for furring channels.) Drive the screw, using the electric drillwhile applying a force (

42、ll the head of the screw below thesurface.10.7 Number of Tests and Retests:10.7.1 Five specimens of members shall be tested.10.7.2 If more than one test specimen fails to meet therequirements, two more test specimens shall be chosen forretesting.10.8 ReportReport shall indicate all specimens meeting

43、the requirements of this specification if the time read from thestop watch is less than the time specified in Section 9, and thescrew did not spin out; or shall indicate all failing if the timeread is equal to or longer than the time specified in Section 9,or the screw spun out.10.9 Precision and Bi

44、asNo statement is made about eitherthe precision or bias of this test method since the result merelystates whether or not there is conformance to the criteria forsuccess specified in the procedure.11. Inspection11.1 Inspection of the members shall be agreed uponbetween the purchaser and the producer

45、 or supplier as part ofthe purchase agreement.12. Rejection12.1 When specified in the purchase agreement, membersthat fail to conform to the requirements of the specificationshall be rejected. Rejection shall be reported to the producer orsupplier promptly and in writing. The notice of rejection sha

46、llcontain a statement documenting how the member has failed toconform to the requirements of this specification and thepurchase agreement.13. Certification13.1 When specified in the purchase agreement, a produc-ers or suppliers report shall be furnished at the time ofshipment certifying that the pro

47、duct is in compliance with thisspecification.14. Marking and Identification14.1 Groups of like members shall be marked with a label,or a tag attached thereto. Marking shall include length, quantityand rollformers member designator including member depth,flange size, and minimum steel thickness in mi

48、ls or inches,exclusive of protective coating.14.2 In addition to the marking referenced in 14.1, indi-vidual members shall have a legible label, stencil, or emboss-ment, at a maximum distance of 96 in. (2440 mm) on center, onthe member, with the following minimum information:14.2.1 The rollformers i

49、dentification (that is, name, logo orinitials).14.2.2 The minimum steel thickness, in mils or inches,exclusive of protective coating.14.2.3 The minimum yield strength in ksi (MPa) if otherthan 33 ksi (230 MPa).14.2.4 The minimum protective coating weight, G-XX, ifother than as specified in Section 4.15.
