Scope1.1 This specification covers three types of asphalt suita

3、blefor use as a mopping coat in dampproofing; or as a plying ormopping cement in the construction of membrane waterproof-ing systems with felts in accordance with Specification D 226;fabrics in accordance with Specifications D 173 or D 1668(asphalt types); asphalt-impregnated glass mat in accordance

4、with Specifications D 2178; and with primer in accordancewith Specification D41.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard. Classification3.1 Asphalts covered by this specification include three

9、types:3.1.1 Type IA soft, adhesive, “self-healing” asphalt thatflows easily under the mop and is suitable for use below gradeunder uniformly moderate temperature conditions both duringthe process of installation and during service.NOTE 1Type I asphalt is suitable for foundations, tunnels, subways,an

10、d so forth.3.1.2 Type IIA somewhat less susceptible asphalt thanType I, with good adhesive and “self-healing” properties,suitable for use above grade where it will not be exposed totemperatures exceeding 50C (122F).NOTE 2Type II asphalt is suitable for railroad bridges, culverts,retaining walls, tan

11、ks, dams, conduits, spray decks, and so forth.3.1.3 Type IIIAn asphalt less susceptible to temperaturethan Type II, with good adhesive properties, and suitable foruse above grade on vertical surfaces exposed to direct sunlightor temperatures above 50C (122F).4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 The aspha

12、lt shall be prepared from crude petroleum bysuitable refining processes to conform to the applicable physi-cal requirements for each type.5. Physical Requirements5.1 The asphalt shall be homogeneous and free of water.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee D08 onRoofing and W

Inspection and Certification7.1 Inspection and certification of the material shall be asagreed upon between the purchaser and the seller. Speci

Rejection and Rehearing8.1 If the results of any test do not conform to the require-ments of this specification, retesting to determine conformitymay be performed as agreed upon between the purchaser andthe seller.9. Packaging and Markin

18、g9.1 The material shall be suitably packaged to permitacceptance by the carrier and to afford adequate protectionfrom the normal hazards of handling and shipment.9.2 Each container shall be plainly marked with the nameand brand of the manufacturer or seller.10.
