1、Designation: D 2513 07aAn American National StandardStandard Specification forThermoplastic Gas Pressure Pipe, Tubing, and Fittings1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 2513; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of r

Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope1.1 This specificat

3、ion covers requirements and test methodsfor material (see Appendix X1) dimensions and tolerances,hydrostatic burst strength, chemical resistance, and impactresistance of plastic pipe, tubing, and fittings for use in fuel gasmains and services for direct burial and reliner applications.The annexes pr

4、ovide specific requirements and test methodsfor each of the materials currently approved. If and whenadditional materials are available, specific annex requirementswill be added. The pipe and fittings covered by this specifica-tion are intended for use in the distribution of natural gas.Requirements

5、 for the qualifying of polyethylene systems foruse with liquefied petroleum gas are covered in Annex A1.1.1.1 This specification does not cover threaded pipe. De-sign considerations are discussed in Appendix X2. In-plantquality control programs are specified in Annex A3 and AnnexA4.1.2 The text of t

6、his specification references notes, footnotes,and appendixes which provide explanatory material. Thesenotes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shallnot be considered as requirements of the specification.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. Terminology3.1 DefinitionsDefinitions are in accordance with Termi-nology F 412, and abbreviations

21、 are in accordance with Ter-minology D 1600, unless otherwise specified.3.2 The gas industry terminology used in this specificationis in accordance with ANSI B 31.8 or 49 CFR Part 192, unlessotherwise indicated.3.3 The term pipe used herein refers to both pipe and tubingunless specifically stated ot

22、herwise.3.4 re-rounding equipmentequipment used to reform thepipe and permanently reduce ovality to 5% or less.3.5 rounding equipmentequipment, devices, clamps, andso forth, used to temporarily hold the pipe round whileout-of-roundness measurements are made, or a joining proce-dure (heat fusion, ele

23、ctrofusion, or mechanical) is performed.3.6 standard thermoplastic material designated codethepipe material designation code shall consist of the abbreviationfor the type of plastic (PE, PVC, or PA) followed by Arabicnumerals which describe the short term properties in accor-dance with applicable AS

24、TM standards, the hydrostatic designstress for water at 73.4F (23C) in units of 100 psi with anydecimal figures dropped. Where the hydrostatic design stresscode contains less than two figures, a zero is used before thenumber. Thus, a complete material designation code shallconsist of two or three le

25、tters and four figures for plastic pipematerials. For example, PE2708 is a polyethylene with adensity cell class of 2 and a slow crack growth resistance cellclass of 7 as per Specification D 3350 with an 800psi designstress for water at 73.4F (23C). The hydrostatic designstresses for gas are not use

26、d in this designation code.3.7 thermoplastic pipe dimension ratio (DR)the ratio ofpipe diameter to wall thickness. It is calculated by dividing thespecified outside diameter of the pipe, in inches, by theminimum specified wall thickness, in inches. The standarddimension ratio (SDR) is a common numbe

27、ring system whichis derived from the ANSI preferred number series R 10.3.8 toe-ina small reduction of the outside diameter at thecut end of a length of thermoplastic pipe.4. Materials4.1 GeneralThe plastic used to make pipe and fittingsshall be virgin plastic or reworked plastic (see 4.2) as specifi

28、edin the Annexes and shall have a Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI)long-term hydrostatic design stress and hydrostatic designbasis rating.4.2 Rework MaterialClean rework material of the samecommercial designation, generated from the manufacturersown pipe and fitting production shall not be used unless t

29、hepipe and fitting produced meet all the requirements of thisspecification.NOTE 1References and material descriptions for ABS, CAB, PB,PE2306, PE2406, PE3306, PE3406 and PE3480 have been removed fromD 2513. Elimination of these materials does not affect the use of pipes andfittings that were produce

30、d when these products were in the standard nordoes it affect the pipelines that are in service. They can still be used for gasdistribution. The main reason for removing these materials from thisstandard is to reflect the current state of the art in gas distribution plasticpiping.4.3 Documentation A

31、documentation system to allow fortraceability of raw materials including percentage and materialclassification (or designation, if applicable) of rework materialsused in the manufacture of the pipe product meeting therequirements of this specification shall exist and be supplied tothe purchaser, if

32、requested.5. Requirements5.1 GeneralSee the annexes for specific product require-ments in addition to the following. Pipe shall be supplied ineither coils or straight lengths. Any pipe supplied in coils mustmeet the same requirements before and after coiling.5.2 WorkmanshipThe pipe and fittings shal

35、form as commercially practi-cable in color, opacity, density, and other physical properties.5.3 Pipe and Tubing Dimensions and Tolerances:5.3.1 DimensionThe dimensions shall be specified bywall thickness and outside diameter.5.3.1.1 DiametersThe outside diameter shall meet therequirements given in T

36、able 1 or Table 2 when measured inaccordance with 6.5.5.3.1.2 Toe-InWhen measured in accordance with 6.5.1.1,the outside diameter at the cut end of the pipe shall not be morethan 1.5 % smaller than the undistorted outside diameter.Measurement of the undistorted outside diameter shall be madeno close

37、r than 1.5 pipe diameters or 11.8 in. (300 mm),whichever distance is less, from the cut end of the pipe.Undistorted outside diameter shall meet the requirements ofTable 1 or Table 2.5.3.1.3 Wall ThicknessThe wall thickness shall be asspecified in Table 2 or Table 3 when measured in accordancewith 6.

38、5.1.2. The minimum wall thickness at any point ofmeasurement shall be not less than the minimum wall thicknessspecified in Table 2 or Table 3.5.3.1.4 Wall Thickness Eccentricity Range The wallthickness eccentricity range shall be within 12 % when mea-sured in accordance with 6.5.1.3.5.3.1.5 OvalityT

39、he ovality (cross section) of 3 in. IPS(88.9 mm) and smaller pipe shall not exceed 5 % whenmeasured in accordance with 6.5.3. Measurements of coiledpipe shall be made on a sample cut from the coil, and in caseof disagreement, conditioned per 6.3.NOTE 2Other factors, that is, installation compaction,

40、 static soilloading, and dynamic vehicular loads may increase the ovality; therefore,5 % was chosen as the limit for the amount contributed by manufacturing,packing, in-plant storage, and shipping. For further information, see (1).7(1) Before or during installation, coiled pipe larger than 3 in.IPS

41、(88.9 mm) shall be processed by the installer throughre-rounding equipment that corrects ovality to 5% or less.NOTE 3Ovality is a packaging condition that occurs when roundablepipe is wound into a coilthe pipe flattens out as it is coiled. Ovality iscorrected when joining equipment is applied to rou

42、ndable pipe, or by fieldprocessing roundable pipe through re-rounding and straightening equip-ment during installation.5.3.1.6 LengthThe pipe shall be supplied in straightlengths or coils as agreed upon between the manufacturer andthe purchaser. The length shall not be less than the minimumlength ag

43、reed upon when corrected to 73F (23C).5.3.1.7 When sizes other than those listed in Table 1, Table2,orTable 3 are used, tolerances shall be: for outside diameter,use same tolerance of next smaller size; for wall thickness, usesame tolerance percentage as shown in the tables.5.3.2 FittingsFittings sh

44、all meet the requirements givenin the applicable Annex.5.4 Chemical ResistanceThe pipe and fittings shall notincrease in weight more than 0.5 % (1.0 % for toluene inmethanol). Where the test specimen is a pipe ring, the materialshall not change more than 612 % in apparent tensile yieldstrength when

45、measured in accordance with 6.9.
