3、ication covers requirements and test methodsfor materials, dimensions, workmanship, flattening resistance,impact resistance, pipe stiffness, extrusion quality, joiningsystems and a form of marking for type PSM poly(vinylchloride) (PVC) sewer pipe and fittings.1.2 Pipe and fittings produced to this s

4、pecification should beinstalled in accordance with Practice D 2321.1.3 The text of this specification references notes, footnotes,and appendixes which provide explanatory material. Thesenotes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shallnot be considered as requirements of the specific

Terminology3.1 DefinitionsDefinitions are in accordance with Termi-nology F 412, and abbreviations are in accord

12、ance with Ter-minology D 1600, unless otherwise specified. The abbreviationof poly(vinyl chloride) plastics is PVC.3.1.1 The term PSM is not an abbreviation but rather anarbitrary designation for a product having certain dimensions.4. Significance and Use4.1 The requirements of this specification ar

13、e intended toprovide pipe and fittings suitable for non-pressure drainage ofsewage and surface water.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee F17 on PlasticPiping Systems and is the direct responsibility of Subcommittee F17.62 on Sewer.Current edition approved Aug 1, 2006. 16、al waste disposal lines should be installed only withthe specific approval of the cognizant code authority since chemicals notcommonly found in drains and sewers and temperatures in excess of 60C(140F) may be encountered.5. Basic Materials5.1 Pipe shall be made of PVC plastic having a cellclassifica

17、tion of 12454 or 12364 as defined in SpecificationD 1784.5.2 Fittings shall be made of PVC plastic having a cellclassification of 12454 or 13343 as defined in SpecificationD 1784.5.3 Pipe and FittingCompounds that have different cellclassifications, because one or more properties are superior tothos

18、e of the specified compounds, are also acceptable.5.4 Rework MaterialThe manufacturer shall use only hisown clean pipe or fitting rework material; the pipe and fittingsproduced shall meet all the requirements of this specification.6. Joining Systems6.1 Solvent Cement Joints for Pipe and FittingsIn t

19、hesolvent cement joint, the pipe spigot wedges into the taperedsocket and the surfaces fuse together. The tapered socket maybe a portion of a molded fitting or it may be a belled end of thepipe section. Formed bells shall be concentric with the pipeaxis.6.1.1 The assembly of joints shall be in accor

20、dance withPractice D 2855.6.1.2 Joint TightnessJoints made with pipe and fittings orwith belled-end pipe shall show no signs of leakage whentested in accordance with 8.9.6.2 Elastomeric Gasket Joints, providing a water-tight seal.6.2.1 The assembly of elastomeric gasket joints shall be inaccordance

21、with the pipe and fittings manufacturers recom-mendations.7. Requirements7.1 WorkmanshipThe pipe and fittings shall be homoge-neous throughout and free from visible cracks, holes, foreigninclusions, or other injurious defects. The pipe shall be asuniform as commercially practical in color, opacity,

22、density,and other physical properties.7.2 Pipe Requirements:7.2.1 DiameterThe average outside diameter of the pipeshall meet the requirements given in Table 1 when measured inaccordance with 8.4.1.NOTE 2As larger sizes of sewer pipe are needed, it is recommendedthat they be made with the following o

23、utside diameters: 475, 560, and 630mm.7.2.2 Wall ThicknessPipe wall thicknesses shall meet therequirements of Table 1 when measured in accordance withTest Method D 2122 and 8.4.2. In the case of belled pipe andfittings fabricated from pipe sections, the thickness of the wallin the bell shall be cons

24、idered satisfactory if it was formedfrom pipe meeting the preceding requirements.7.2.3 Pipe FlatteningThere shall be no evidence of split-ting, cracking, or breaking when pipe is tested in accordancewith 8.6.7.2.4 Pipe Impact StrengthThe impact strength of thepipe shall not be less than the values g

25、iven in Table 2 whentested in accordance with 8.7.NOTE 3This test is intended only for use as a quality control test, notas a simulated service test.7.2.5 Pipe StiffnessPipe stiffness values for the pipe shallcomply with Table 3 when tested in accordance with 8.8.7.2.6 Pipe Extrusion QualityThe pipe

26、 shall not flake ordisintegrate when tested in accordance with 8.10.7.3 Requirements for Solvent Cemented Pipe and Fittings7.3.1 Socket DiameterThe inside diameter of the taperedsocket shall comply with the dimensions listed in Table 4 whendetermined in accordance with 8.5.1.7.3.2 Socket DepthThe so

27、cket depth shall not be less thanthat shown in Table 4 when measured in accordance with 8.5.2.7.3.3 Wall Thickness of Molded FittingsThe wall thick-nesses of the waterway and socket or bell of molded fittingsshall be no less than the respective minimum thicknesses listedfor the equivalent pipe in Ta

28、ble 1. For reducing fittings or thosewith smaller inlets, the minimum wall thickness of each inletshall be no less than the minimum wall thickness for that sizepipe. The thickness shall be determined in accordance withTest Method D 2122 and 8.5.3.7.3.4 Spigot LengthThe minimum distance from thespigo

29、t end to the area where the spigot diameter changes due toa socket, branch, or change in angle shall comply with the“ C”dimension of Table 4.7.4 Fabricated FittingsAny fitting made from pipe orfrom a combination of pipe and molded parts shall be consid-ered a fabricated fitting and the following pro

In such a case, the

33、ittingsFabricated fittings that havean over-wrap of fiberglass reinforced thermosetting resin orother similar materials shall meet all of the requirements in7.4.2 and 7.4.3.NOTE 4Refer to Appendix X3 for geometric configurations of someof the fittings being produced. Consult the individual manufactu

34、rer forlaying lengths.7.4.2 Fabricated Fittings General Requirements:7.4.2.1 Pipe used in fabricated fittings shall meet all qualityand dimensional requirements listed in the standard for thatpipe.7.4.2.2 Pipe used in fabricated fittings shall have a wallthickness equal to or greater than the wall t

35、hickness of thepipes to which the fitting (or that part of the fitting) will bejoined.7.4.2.3 No part of the spur or branch shall protrude into thewaterway of the fitting more than 0.070 in.7.4.2.4 All edges and joints exposed to sewage shall berounded and free from any rough parts that could catch

36、solids.7.4.2.5 No fitting shall have an inside diameter dimensionsmaller than the base inside diameter listed in Table X1.1 forthat pipe size and DR.7.4.2.6 All welds and solvent cement joints shall be soundand free of visible defects.7.4.3 Fabrication Joint Test Requirements:7.4.3.1 These test requ

37、irements apply only to tee, wye, andbend fabricated fittings that are manufactured using fabricationmethods that join together a combination of pipe sections orpipe sections and molded parts to form a fitting configuration.Other fitting configurations using the same manufacturingprocedures as those

38、tested successfully shall be suitable for saleand use. Fittings fabricated from a single-piece of pipe to formBends and Sweeps shall not be subject to this requirement.NOTE 5A brittle fitting may violently fragment during testing. Topreclude serious injury or death, suitable and appropriate safety p

39、roce-dures shall be used during any test procedure.7.4.3.2 Fabricated fittings shall be supported along thefitting centerline on a flat wooden block or blocks as shown inFigs. 1 and 2.(1) The width of the wooden blocks shall be not less than66 % of the nominal fitting body size being tested for fabr

40、i-cated fittings up to 18 in. and 12 in. (305 mm) in width fornominal body sizes over 18 in.(2) The thickness of the wooden blocks shall be neither lessthan, nor more than 1 in. (25.4 mm) greater than the differencebetween the largest outside diameter on the bell and the outsideof the body being tes

41、ted.(3) The wooden blocks shall stop 1 618 in. (25.4 6 3.2mm) from the fitting bells and when required for bends shall bemitered as indicated in Fig. 2 so that the wooden blocks coverthe entire centerline of the fabricated fitting being tested.NOTE 6The wooden blocks shall be made from an available

42、softwoodand the type of wood shall be noted on the test report.NOTE 7When comparative testing is being performed between labsthe same type of softwood blocks shall be used.7.4.4 Deflect the fabricated fitting by applying the load,calculated from the values given in Table 5 to the body of thefitting

43、as shown in Fig. 1. The body length for this calculationshall not include any part of a taper or transitional area betweenthe fitting body and the bell as shown in Fig. 2. Apply thecalculated load at a constant rate overa1to2min. period andthen maintain the load for 5 (five) minutes. The calculated

44、loadrequired shall be applied to a second wooden block or blocksthat are located along the fitting centerline on top of the fittingas shown in Fig. 2.7.4.4.1 Inspect all welds and fabrication joints while theload is on the fabricated fitting, and again after the load hasTABLE 3 Minimum Pipe Stiffnes

47、for 5 (five) minutes. Any evidence of crack-ing, splitting, breaking, or separation shall constitute failure ofthis requirement.7.4.4.2 After completing the load test, plug all openings andpressure test at a gage pressure of 10.8 psi (74 kPa) 25-ft headof water for 10 min. Any visible leakage of wat

48、er at thefabrication joint or through the body constitutes failure to meetthis requirement.NOTE 8These test requirements have been selected to evaluate qualityof fabrication. They are not intended to simulate service conditions or torequire testing of every fitting.7.4.4.3 All tested fittings shall

49、be destroyed. Tested fittingsshall not be suitable for sale and/or use.NOTE 9If the test samples are to be retained they shall be permanentlymarked in such a way as to indicate that they have been tested.7.5 Solvent CementThe cement shall meet the require-ments of Specification D 2564.7.6 Requirements for Pipe and Fittings with ElastomericGasket Joints:7.6.1 Pipe RequirementsIn addition to the requirementsof 7.2, the assembled joint shall display no leakage when testedin accordance with the requirements of Specification D 3212.7.6.1.1 BellsThe di
