1、Designation: D3167 10 (Reapproved 2017)Standard Test Method forFloating Roller Peel Resistance of Adhesives1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D3167; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last
2、 revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.INTRODUCTIONThe purpose of this test method is to provide for the determination of the metal-to-metal peelstrength of adhesives by a m
3、ethod that will provide good reproducibility at low-, as well as athighstrength levels and yet allow for a simple method of test specimen preparation and testing. The accuracy of the results of strength tests of adhesive bonds will depend on the conditions underwhich the bonding process is carried ou

In orderto ensure that complete information is available to the individual conducting the tests, themanufacturer of the adhesive shall furnish nu

It should be stated whether

9、the manufacturer of the adhesive, if it can be assumedby the test operator that any arbitrarily chosen value within such a range or any combination of suchvalues for several variables will be acceptable to both the manufacturer and the purchaser of theadhesive.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers the
10、 determination of the relativepeel resistance of adhesive bonds between one rigid adherendand one flexible adherend when tested under specified condi-tions of preparation and testing.1.2 A variation in thickness of the adherends will generallyinfluence the test values. For this reason, the thickness
11、 of thesheets used to make the test specimens shall be specified in thematerial specification. When no thickness is specified, theflexible adherend shall be 0.63 mm (0.025 in.) thick and therigid adherend shall be 1.63 mm (0.064 in.) thick.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thes

18、Summary of Test Method4.1 This test method consists of testing laminated or bondedadherends, where one adherend is made to be rigid and theother adherend is made to be flexible, by peeling of the flexibleadherend from the rigid adherend at a controlled angle of peelusing the test fixture shown in Fi

This test method may be used as an alternative to TestMethod D1781 when that facility is not available. This testmethod is considered more severe since the angle of peel isgreater.6. It is preferred that the average load be determinedfrom the curve by means of a planimeter.NOTE 4In case a planimeter is not used, the average may be calculatedas the average of load readings taken at fixed

For example, the load may be recorded at each 12.7-mm (12-in.)interval of crosshead motion (discarding the first 25.4 mm (1 in.) until atleast six readings have been attained.10.
