Scope1.1 This is a guide for preparing speci

Significance and Use3.1 This guide may be the basis for either the buyingauthority or the consumer to prepare a specification f

8、orsolvent-based floor polishes (liquid or paste). Specificationsprepared under this guide are for products intended for use onall wood and solvent resistant floors. Any reference materialutilized and limits set are to be agreed upon by the seller,purchaser, or user.4. Classification4.1 Buffng-Type F

9、loor PolishA floor polish that requiresbuffing to maintain or enhance appearance, or both.4.2 Self-Polishing Floor PolishA floor polish that dries toa shine.5. Basis of Purchase5.1 Identification of SamplesThe qualification samplesubmitted by the manufacturer will be identified for thepurpose of com

10、paring with material subsequently submitted foracceptance. Within test method limits, stated herein, qualifica-tion and acceptance samples should be identical.Any lot or lotsfound not to be identical with the standard sample shall berejected. Reference material is to be agreed upon between thepurcha

11、ser and the seller.6. Requirements6.1 Physical (Product Specification Values or Limits):6.1.1 Total SolidsThe solids shall not be greater than ( )or less than ( ) when analyzed in accordance with 8.1.6.1.2 Flash PointThe flash point of liquid products shallbe greater than ( ) when determined in acco

Suitable panels should be coated according to productdirections.6.2.4 Coeffcient of FrictionThe coefficient of frictionshall not be less than ( ) when determined in accordance with9.4.7. Sampling7.1 For Inspection LotsSample all production lots. Take aminimum of one sampl

18、e. The sample shall be representativeand of a size mutually agreed upon.7.2 Method of SamplingSelect samples at random. Takethe number of samples agreed upon between the purchaser andthe seller. Cans or containers should be coded or identified tocorrespond to production batch codes.7.3 Identificatio

19、n and DispositionAll subdivisions of thesample taken in accordance with 7.1 and 7.2 shall be properlyidentified, including any code or batch numbers, and numberedconsecutively. Samples shall be distributed as directed by thepurchaser or his authorized representative.Any remaining shallbe retained at

20、 the sampling site pending further or finalinstructions.8. Test Methods8.1 Total SolidsTest Method D 2834.8.2 Flash PointUse Test Methods D 56, D 93, D 3278 orD 3828 as indicated in Note 1.NOTE 1For U.S. Department of Transportations (RSPA)4and U.S.Department of Labors (OSHA)4regulations use Test Me

21、thod D56orD 3278 for liquids with a flash point of 37.8C (100F) and a viscosity ofless than 45 SUS at 37.8C (100F) or 9.5 cSt at 25C (77F), or do notcontain suspended solids or have a tendency to form a surface film whileunder test. Use Test Method D 93 or D 3278 for liquids having viscositiesof 45

22、SUS or more at 37.8C (100F) or that contain suspended solids orhave a tendency to form a surface film while under test. For ConsumerProduct Safety Commissions regulations, use methods described in 16CFR Chapter 11,4which specifies the use of a modified Test MethodD 3828, a closed-cup method.NOTE 2As

23、 of August 10, 1987 all three regulatory agencies listed inNote 1 define flammable liquids as those with flash points of under 37.8C(100F) using a closed-cup method. Other classifications have beenestablished by these agencies.8.3 Paste HardnessTest Method D 217.8.4 Liquid Viscosity, Odor, and Color

24、 to match referencestandards as described in 5.1.8.5 Stability:8.5.1 Liquid WaxFill stoppered graduated 100-ml cylin-der with a uniform sample and leave undisturbed for 24 h, at306 1C. Then allow the sample to stand an additional 24 h at256 1C and then determine the degree of settling. Separationsho

25、uld be less than 5 %.8.5.2 Paste WaxExamine the sample of paste wax afterstanding in a closed container at 30 6 1C for 24 h followedby24hat256 1C.
