Scope*1.1 This specification covers methyl acrylate (99 % grade)for use in paint, varnish, lacquer, and related products.1.2 The following applies to all specified limits in

3、 thisstandard; for purposes of determining conformance with thisstandard, an observed value or a calculated value shall berounded off “to the nearest unit” in the last right-hand digitused in expressing the specification limit, in accordance withthe rounding-off method of Practice E29.1.3 The values

10、been shown to have no statistically significant difference from Pt-Cocolor determined by Test Method D 1209. However, it is not knownwhether methyl acrylate was part of the sample set included in theinterlaboratory study.4. Hazards4.1 Methyl acrylate is a flammable liquid. Its vapors canform explosi

11、ve mixtures with air and are particularly irritating.Store samples in amber bottles or protect from light by othermeans to aid in preventing polymerization. Keep samples awayfrom heat sources and chemicals that can cause free radicalpolymerization. Methyl acrylate can polymerize violentlyevolving co

12、nsiderable heat. Sampling5.1 The material shall be sampled in accordance withPractice E 300 (see Section 4 on Hazards).6. Test Methods6.1 The properties enumerated in this spec

16、ification shall bedetermined in accordance with the following ASTM testmethods:6.1.1 PurityTest Method D 3362.6.1.2 WaterTest Method D 1364.6.1.3 ColorTest Method D 1209 (see Note 1).6.1.4 AcidityDetermine the acidity in accordance withTest Method D 1613, except multiply the results obtained “asacet

17、ic acid” by 76.06/60.05 or 1.2. This will convert the resultsobtained to “as acrylic acid.” The results obtained “as mg KOHper g of sample” are unaffected.6.1.5 Methyl Ether of Hydroquinone ContentTest MethodD 3125.7.
