1、Designation: D 4892 89 (Reapproved 2009)An American National StandardStandard Test Method forDensity of Solid Pitch (Helium Pycnometer Method)1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 4892; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in th

2、e case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope1.1 This

3、test method covers the determination of pitchdensity by helium pycnometer. It is applicable at a range ofroom temperatures of 15 to 35C.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard. No other units of measurement are included in thisstandard.1.3 This standard does not purport to ad

18、n.11.4 Record the room temperature during the density deter-mination.12. Calculation12.1 The procedure described in this test method determinesthe volume of a given mass of pitch at the ambient temperature(room temperature) of the helium pycnometer. Since thevolume of a given mass of pitch is temper

The variation of pitch volume with temperaturehas been previously established (Test Method D 2962 and theliterature4), and the following calculation corrects all densitymeasurements to 25C.12.2 The density of pi
