1、Designation: D 5222 08Standard Specification forHigh Fire-Point Mineral Electrical Insulating Oils1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 5222; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revisio

Scope1.1 This specification describes a high fire-point mineral oilbased insulating fluid, for use as a dielectric and coolingmedium in ne

3、w and existing power and distribution electricalapparatus, such as transformers and switchgear.1.2 High fire-point insulating oil differs from conventionalmineral insulating oil by possessing a fire-point of at least300C. High fire-point mineral insulating oils are also referredto as “less flammable

4、” mineral insulating oils.This property isnecessary in order to comply with certain application require-ments of the National Electrical Code (Article 450-23) or otheragencies. The material discussed in this specification is mis-cible with other petroleum based insulating oils. Mixing highfire-point

5、 liquids with lower fire point hydrocarbon insulatingoils (for example, Specification D 3487 mineral oil) may resultin fire points of less than 300C.1.3 This specification is intended to define a high fire-pointelectrical mineral insulating oil that is compatible with typicalmaterial of construction

6、 of existing apparatus and will satis-factorily maintain its functional characteristic in its applicationin this application. The material described in this specificationmay not be miscible with electrical insulating liquids ofnon-petroleum origin. The user should contact the manufac-turer of the hi

7、gh fire-point insulating oil for guidance in thisrespect.1.4 This specification applies only to new insulating mate-rial oil as received prior to any processing. Information onin-service maintenance testing is available in appropriateguides.2The user should contact the manufacturers of theequipment
