Studies have shown that the torque measured at 180rotation of the nut is statistically equivalent to the average ofthe torque measured at the four14 turns. Since measuring thetorque at the one angle of rotation is more effic
24、ient, prevailingtorque is most often defined as the torque measured at 180rotation of the nut. However, for purposes of this specification,the definition of prevailing torque as the average of the fourtorques measured at 90, 180, 270, and 360 rotation of the nutis also acceptable.4. Classification4.
25、1 Anaerobic adhesives are classified into groups in accor-dance with their performance properties. These groups aresubdivided into classes and grades, as shown in Table AN.NOTE 1For example, the designation AN 0411 would indicate:AN = anaerobic adhesive (from Guide D 4800),04 (Group) = retaining com
26、pound,1 (Class) = low strength, and1 (Grade) = viscosity of 100500 mPa.5. Requirements5.1 General RequirementsGeneral requirements are prop-erties that are inherent in every lot of adhesive produced, butmay be tested in accordance with Table AN at a frequencyagreed on by the purchaser and the manufa
27、cturer in order toverify specification conformance.5.1.1 Ultraviolet FluorescenceThe uncured adhesiveshall fluoresce under ultraviolet illumination when tested inaccordance with 7.1.5.1.2 Color and WorkmanshipThe color supplied shall bethe color for the given group, class, and grade, as specified in
28、Table AN. The uncured adhesive shall be smooth and homo-geneous after shaking, free from lumps, caked material, andparticles of foreign matter when examined in accordance with7.2.5.1.3 Flash PointThe uncured adhesive shall have a flashpoint above 93C when tested in accordance with 7.3.5.1.4 Storage
29、StabilityThe strength shall conform to theproperties specified for the given class in Table AN. Theviscosity shall increase no more than 50 % above the upper-most limit for the given grade in Table AN when tested inaccordance with 7.12.5.1.5 ToxicityThe supplier shall furnish a Material SafetyData S
30、heet (MSDS) in accordance with FED-STD-313 so thatthe user can evaluate the safety of the material for the proposeduse.5.1.6 Solvent ResistanceThe average strength of eachadhesive, after solvent immersion testing in accordance with7.11, shall meet the requirements specified for the given classin Tab

37、e, when tested in accordance with 7.7, shall meet therequirements specified for the given class in Table AN.5.2.3 Strength at Standard ConditionsStandard conditionsare 21 to 25C (69.8 to 77F) and 45 to 55 % relative humidity.5.2.3.1 Groups 01, 02, and 03 ProductsThe averagestrength of each adhesive,

39、ffxesWhen requirements are needed that supersedeor supplement Table AN, they shall be specified through theuse of suffixes.6.2 When using the callout for materials covered by thisspecification, the suffixes that are found in Annex A1 may beused for the specific requirements for the material for thea

In general, the suffix letter gives thegeneral requirement needed, the first digit following gives thetest condition, and the second digit gives the specific require-ment.6.3 Additional suffixes will be added to this specification astest methods and requirements are developed.
