Terminology3.1 DefinitionsThe terminology used in this specificationis in accordance with Terminologies D 883 and D 1600.4. Classification4.1 Thermoplastic polyester materials are

20、 classified intogroups according to their composition. These groups aresubdivided into classes and grades, as indicated in the basicproperty table (Table TPES).NOTE 2An example of this classification system is as follows. Thedesignation TPES 0113 would indicate:TPES = thermoplastic polyester as foun

22、iples of five, that indicate the nominal quantity in percent by weight. Thus,a letter designation G for glass reinforced and 35 for percent orreinforcement, G35, specifies a material with a nominal glasslevel of 35 %. The reinforcement letter designations andassociated tolerance levels are shown as t

The designation TPES021G30 indicates the following:TPES = thermoplastic polyester as found in TerminologyD 1600,02 (group) = PET,1 (class) = unmodified, andG30 (grade) = nominal 30 % gl

25、ass with the requirements given inTable TPES.NOTE 4This part of the classification system uses the percent ofreinforcements or fillers, or both, in the callout of the modified basematerial. The types and percentages of reinforcements and fillers shouldbe shown on the suppliers technical data sheet u

26、nless they are proprietaryin nature. If necessary, additional callout of these reinforcements andadditives can be accomplished by use of the suffix part of the system (seeSection 5).NOTE 5Materials containing reinforcements or fillers, or both, atnominal levels not in multiples of five are included

27、in the nearest TPESdesignation. For example, a material with a nominal glass content of 28 %is included with Grade G30.NOTE 6The ash content of filled or reinforced materials may bedetermined using ISO 3451-2:1984.4.2 Variations of thermoplastic polyester materials that arenot included in Table TPES

28、 are classified in accordance withTable TPES and Table A or B. Table TPES is used to specifythe group of thermoplastic polyester, and Table A or B is usedto specify property requirements.4.2.1 Specific requirements for variations of thermoplasticpolyester materials shall be indicated by a six-charac

29、ter desig-nator. The designation will consist of the letter “A” or “B” andthe five digits comprising the cell numbers for the propertyrequirements in the order as they appear in Table A or B.4.2.1.1 Although the values listed are necessary to includethe range of properties available in existing mate

30、rial, usersshould not infer that every possible combination of theproperties exists or can be obtained.4.2.2 When the grade of the basic material is not known oris not important, the use of “0” grade classification shall beused for materials in this system (see Note 7).NOTE 7An example of a reinforc

The designation TPES0310G30A22450 would indicate the following material requirementsfrom Table A:TPES0310 = PET copolymer, from Table TPES,G30 = glass-reinforced at 30 % nominal glass content,A = Table A for property requirements
