1、Designation: D 6050 97 (Reapproved 2003)e1Standard Test Method forDetermination of Insoluble Solids in Organic LiquidHazardous Waste1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 6050; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of
2、revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.e1NOTEEquations 1 and 2 were corrected editorially in June 2003.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers the det

Summary of Test Method3.1 A 10-mL aliquot of OLHW sample is decanted into a15-mL gradu
6、ated centrifuge tube and centrifuged for 3 min.The separated liquid phase of the OLHW is decanted into anappropriate waste vessel. The centrifuge tube with the sepa-rated solid material is brought back to its original 10-mLvolume with a user-selected blend of clean solvents andagitated to mix the so

Significance and Use4.1 Facilities utilizing bulk liquid hazardous waste fuels areconcerned about material handling characteristics and theoverall quality of the fuel. A high percentage of i
8、nsoluble,suspended solid material can create pumping, filtering, orgrinding difficulties in the off-loading of bulk shipments ofOLHW and can contribute to excessive wear on processingequipment. High solids can also decrease the quality andconsistency of commingled fuel by decreasing the effective-ne

The speed to achieve this isgenerally between 3100 to 3600 rpm. The rotation speednecessary to achieve the r

Th
16、e chemical compo-sition of OLHW is usually determined by gas chromatographicanalysis. The clean solvent blend will vary in complexitydepending on the specifications of the user.NOTE 2The clean solvent blend may be as simple as a singlecomponent (for example, toluene) or a complex mixture of aliphati

The user should formulate the clean solventblend based on compositional knowledge of the OLHW that the samplematerial is to be commingled with. If the commingled OLHW containswater, it may be appropr

It may be necessary to use aVortex mixer for thorough mixing.9.7 Replace the OLHW tube in the centrifuge, and setcentrifuge as described in 9.2 and 9
23、.3.9.8 Engage centrifuge, and allow to spin for 2 min.9.9 Remove the OLHW tube, and decant the separatedliquid phase of each to an appropriate waste vessel.9.9.1 Visually estimate and record the amount of centri-fuged solids in the tubes to the nearest 0.25 mL.10.
