1、Designation: D6447 09 (Reapproved 2014)Standard Test Method forHydroperoxide Number of Aviation Turbine Fuels byVoltammetric Analysis1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D6447; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of
2、revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 The test method covers the determination of the hydrop-eroxide content of aviation turbine fuels
3、. The test method mayalso be applicable to the determination of the hydroperoxidecontent of any water-insoluble, organic fluid, particularlydiesel fuels, gasolines, and kerosines.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard. No other units of measurement are included in thisstanda

6、ducts3. Summary of Test Method3.1 A quantity of sample is contacted with aqueous potas-sium iodide solution in the presence of acid. The hydroperox-ides present are reduced by the potassium iodide. An equiva-lent amount of iodine is liberated, which is quantified byvoltammetric analysis. The results
7、 are calculated and reportedas millimoles (mmole) of hydroperoxide per litre of sample.4. Significance and Use4.1 This test method and Test Method D3703 measure thesame peroxide species (primarily hydroperoxides) in aviationfuels.4.2 The magnitude of the hydroperoxide number is anindication of the q
8、uantity of oxidizing constituents present.Deterioration of fuel results in the formation of hydroperoxidesand other oxygen-carrying compounds. The hydroperoxidenumber measures those compounds that will oxidize potassiumiodide.4.3 The determination of the hydroperoxide number of fuelsis significant b

Apparatus5.1 Voltammetric Analyzer3The instrument used to quan-tify the liberated iodine is a voltammetric analyzer equippedwith a three electrode system and a digital or analog output. The combination electr

Thevoltammetric analyzer applies a linear voltage ramp (0 to 1 Vrange with respect to the referen
