1、Designation: D6566 12Standard Test Method forMeasuring Mass per Unit Area of Turf Reinforcement Mats1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D6566; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revisi

Scope1.1 This test method covers an index to the determination ofmass per unit area of all turf reinforcement mats.1.2 The values stated i

The values given in parentheses are for informationonly.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. Summary of Test Met

6、hod4.1 The mass per unit area of a turf reinforcement mat isdetermined by weighing test specimens of known dimensions, cut from equally spaced distances over the full width of thelaboratory sample. The calculated values are then averaged toobtain the mean mass per unit area of the laboratory sample.5

7、. Significance and Use5.1 This test method is used to determine if the turfreinforcement mat meets specifications for mass per unit area. This test method can be used for quality control to determinespecimen conformance. This measurement allows for a simplecontrol of the delivered material by a compa

8、rison of the massper unit area of the delivered material and the specified massper unit area.5.2 The procedure in this test method may be used foracceptance testing of commercial shipments, but caution isadvised since information about between-laboratory precisionis incomplete. Comparative tests in

9、accordance with 5.2.1 areadvisable.5.2.1 In case of a dispute arising from differences inreported test results when using the procedures in this testmethod for acceptance testing of commercial shipments, thepurchaser and the manufacturer should conduct comparativetests to determine if there is a sta

10、tistical bias between theirlaboratories. Competent statistical assistance is recommendedfor the investigation of bias. As a minimum, the two partiesshould take a group of test specimens that are as homogeneousas possible and which are from a lot of material of the type inquestion. The test specimen

11、should then be randomly assignedin equal numbers to each laboratory for testing. The averageresults from the two laboratories should be compared using theappropriate students t-test and an acceptable probability levelchosen by the two parties before testing is begun. If a bias isfound, either its ca

Each test specimen shall be equal in area (not lessthan 23 000 mm2(35.6 in.2). Cut each test specimen with anaccuracy of 60

18、.5 % of its area.NOTE 1For test specimens prepared in the field, larger than minimum-sized test specimens will be required to stay within the cutting accuracy(0.5 %). Field experience has shown that a test specimen with an area notless than 207 000 mm2(320.4 in.2) will be necessary to achieve thereq

In general, manyturf reinforcement mats contain more moisture when receivedthan they will after reaching moisture equilibrium

22、. However, certain fibers may exhibit slow moisture equilibrium rates fromthe “as received” wet side. When this is known, a precondi-tioning cycle, a described in Practice D1776, may be agreedupon between contractual parties.9.
