1、Designation: D8022 15Standard Test Method forRoll Stability of Lubricating Grease in Presence of Water(Wet Roll Stability Test)1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D8022; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revisi

2、on, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers a procedure for determining theroll stability of lubricating grease in the pre

3、sence of water (wetroll stability) by using a roll stability test apparatus.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard. No other units of measurement are included in thisstandard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its

9、all amount of water issubjected to low shear at 20 C to 35 C for a specified time ina roll stability apparatus. The difference between the conepenetration before working and the cone penetration after isused as a measure of the wet roll stability of the grease.5. Significance and Use5.1 It is known

10、that contamination by water can affect thestructural stability of some greases in service. The test proce-dure specified in this method is widely used to determine thewet structural stability of greases in service. Many greasespecifications require this procedure as a wet structural stabilitytest. N

11、o accurate correlation is established between the testresults and wet structural stability of grease in actual service.6. Calculation or Interpretation of Results9.1 Calculate the change in consistency of the sample asfollows:Penetration change 5 P2 2 P1 (1)where:P2 = final full-scale equivalent penetration reading, andP1 = initial full-scale equivalent penetration reading

21、.NOTE 2Penetration reading is measured in tenths of a millimetre. Anegative penetration change indicates hardening of grease while a positivepenetration change indicates softening.10. Report10.1 The value calculated in 9.1 is reported with the testprocedure as the wet shear stability of the grease.
