1、Designation: E2634 10Standard Specification forFlat Wall Insulating Concrete Form (ICF) Systems1This standard is issued under the fixed designation E2634; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A

Scope1.1 This specification is intended to apply to InsulatingConcrete Form (ICF) Systems that will act as permanentformwork for cast-in-place

3、reinforced concrete beams; lintels;exterior and interior, above and below grade bearing andnon-bearing walls; foundation; and retaining walls. The speci-fication is restricted to ICF Systems with a resultant uniformmonolithic concrete core.1.2 Products covered by the specification consists of molded

4、expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation panels that are con-nected by cross ties to form the ICF System.1.3 This specification identifies test methods appropriate forestablishing ICF System performance in their primary functionas a stay in place concrete forming system. The use of ICFSystems covered b

5、y this specification shall be regulated bybuilding codes that address fire performance, structural perfor-mance or both. The fire performance of the material shall beaddressed through standard fire test methods established by theappropriate governing documents. The structural performancemust be addr

6、essed through design of concrete structures inaccordance with the appropriate Code requirements.1.4 Details of manufacturing procedures are beyond thescope of this specification.1.5 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversio

Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 cross tiesplastic or metal bridging comprised offlanges and webs that hold the EPS panels at a prescribeddistance and provide resistance to the concrete pressure. Theflanges may be used as attachment points for interior andexter

20、ior finishing materials.3.1.2 expanded polystyrenea type of foamed plasticformed by the expansion of polystyrene resin beads in amolding process.3.1.3 insulating concrete forms (ICFs)a structural stay-in-place concrete forming system, consisting of opposing EPSpanels, held parallel by means of cross

21、 ties and serves toprovide insulating characteristics. See Fig. 1.3.1.4 quality agencya quality agency is defined to be onethat: (1) Maintains accreditation as a Certification Organizationin accordance with ISO/IEC Guide 65 and as an InspectionAgency in accordance with ISO/IEC Guide 17020. The scope

22、of accreditations shall be consistent with the type of productbeing inspected. (2) Has access to the facilities and trainedtechnical personnel to verify that the grading, bonding, work-manship, and other characteristics of the products as deter-mined by inspection, sampling, and testing comply with

23、allapplicable requirements specified herein. (3) Has procedures tobe followed by its personnel in performance of the inspectionand testing. (4) Has no financial interest in, or is not financiallydependent upon, any single company manufacturing the prod-uct being inspected or tested. (5) Is not owned

24、, operated, orcontrolled by any such company.3.1.5 testing laboratorya testing laboratory is one that isaccredited as complying with ISO/IEC Standard 17025. Thescope of the laboratorys accreditation shall include the specifictype of testing being performed.4. Classification4.1 ICF Systems addressed

25、by this specification are thosewhich produce a cast-in-place uniform monolithic concretecore wall where the concrete design is in accordance withaccepted design standards such as ACI 318.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 EPS PanelsAll EPS panels are manufactured usingmolded EPS insulation, conforming

26、to Specification C578.5.2 Cross TiesAll components shall conform to manufac-turing or performance standards as in accordance with 6.2.Cross ties that are susceptible to UV degradation shall have aminimum of 6 months ultraviolet (UV) protection againstdegradation of physical properties.NOTE 1UV prote

30、perties6.1 Expanded Polystyrene Qualification:6.1.1 These materials, including products into which re-cycled material is introduced, must comply with requirementsin Specification C578, Table 1.6.1.2 Qualification to the Requirements of 6.1.3Data re-quired in 6.1.1 must be submitted in accordance wit

31、h either6.1.3 or 6.1.4.6.1.3 Where the resin supplier provides to the qualityagency sufficient test data in compliance with 6.1.1 for eachresin grade (base formula) and for each Specification C578Type intended for application use, the ICF System owner mustprovide reports of tests demonstrating compl

32、iance with flexuralstrength tested in accordance with Test Methods C203, MethodI, Procedure B, and density requirements tested in accordancewith Test Method D1622 of each grade and each SpecificationC578 Type intended for application use for each recognizedmanufacturing plant/location.6.1.3.1 Except

33、ionOxygen index tests in accordance withTest Method D2863 need only be conducted on one Specifi-cation C578 Type per supplier resin grade (base formula).6.1.3.2 ExceptionThermal resistance tests need only beconducted at 23.8 6 2.8C (75 6 5F).6.1.4 Where the resin supplier does not provide, to thequa

34、lity agency, sufficient test data showing compliance with allrequirements of 6.1.1 for each resin grade (base formula) andfor each Specification C578 Type intended for application use,the ICF System owner must provide reports of tests todemonstrate full compliance with 6.1.1 for each SpecificationC5

35、78 Type intended for application use at one manufacturinglocation.6.1.4.1 ExceptionOxygen index tests in accordance withTest Method D2863 need only be conducted on one Specifi-cation C578 Type per supplier resin grade (base formula).6.1.4.2 ExceptionThermal resistance tests need only beconducted at

36、23.8 6 2.8C (75 6 5F).6.1.4.3 ExceptionWhere products manufactured with anyone of the resin grades (base formula) already quality under6.1.4, the ICF System owner must provide reports of testsdemonstrating compliance with flexural strength tested inaccordance with Test Methods C203, Method I, Proced

37、ure B,and density requirements tested in accordance with TestMethod D1622 of each grade and each Specification C578Type intended for application use for each recognized manu-facturing plant/location.6.1.5 Surface Burning CharacteristicsThe EPS shall betested in accordance with Test Method E84 in the

38、 maximumthickness and density intended for use. The maximum FlameSpread Index shall be 75 and the maximum Smoke Develop-ment Index shall be 450.6.1.5.1 ExceptionThe maximum Flame Spread Indexshall be 25 when the product is intended for use in non-combustible construction.6.2 Cross Tie Qualification:

39、6.2.1 GeneralThese materials, including products intowhich recycled material is introduced, must comply withrequirements of 6.2.2-6.2.6 of this specification which establishthe base line properties of the cross ties.6.2.2 Rate of BurningPlastic Ties shall be tested inaccordance with Test Method D635

40、. The plastic shall meetminimum CC2 Classification as defined by Test Method D635,X2.1.2.6.2.3 Ignition TemperaturePlastic Ties shall be tested inaccordance with Test Method D1929, Procedure B. The mini-mum Ignition Temperature shall be 350C (662F).6.2.4 Fastener CapacityShall be tested in accordanc

41、ewith modified Test Methods D1761 on a minimum of tenspecimens.6.2.4.1 Lateral Load Strength test specimens shall consist offull-thickness ICF panels, with the fastener for which recogni-tion is sought, screwed into the cross-tie flange in a mannerrepresentative of the end-use configuration. The tes

42、t shall beconducted with an eccentricity equal to the embedment depthof the cross tie below the surface of the EPS. Where cross tiesare flush to the EPS no eccentricity is required. Pilot holes forscrews shall not be predrilled into the specimen.6.2.4.2 Analysis:(1) Plastic Cross TiesThe allowable l

43、ateral load strengthof the connection shall not exceed 75 % of the averageproportional limit load, or the average ultimate load divided bya factor of 3.2, whichever is lower. The factor of 3.2 assumesa maximum coefficient of variation (COV) of 15 %. Where theCOV is greater than 15 %, the allowable l

45、heconnection shall be determined in accordance with AISINAS-01, Chapter F.6.2.4.3 Withdrawal Load Strength (Plastic or Metal CrossTies)Test specimens shall consist of full-thickness ICFpanels, with the fastener for which recognition is sought,screwed into the cross-tie flange in a manner representat

46、ive ofthe end-use configuration. Pilot holes for screws shall not bepredrilled into the specimen.(1) The ultimate load shall be determined for each testspecimen.(2) The allowable withdrawal load strength of the connec-tion shall be determined based on the average ultimate loaddivided by a safety fac

47、tor of 5.6.2.5 Cross Tie Tensile StrengthThe integrated cross tieassembly shall be tested in accordance with modified TestMethod D638 for plastic cross ties and modified Test MethodsE8 for metal cross ties. Modifiecation of Test Method is to testthe actual cross tie assembly with load rate of 25 mm

48、(1 in.) perminute. The minimum tensile strength of the cross tie assemblyshall be equivalent to 32.3 kN/m2(675 lb/ft2) of wall surface.6.2.5.1 ExceptionWhere the manufacturer can substanti-ate satisfactory concrete formwork capability through analysisor testing, a reduced minimum tensile strength ma

49、y be accept-able.E2634 1036.2.6 Cross Tie Shear StrengthThe plastic material uti-lized in the cross tie assembly shall be tested in accordancewith Test Method D732. The minimum shear strength of thecross tie assembly shall be 2.0 kN/m2(42 lb/ft2)ofthetributary area of the form surface in contact with concrete. Theminimum shear strength shall be calculated by multiplying theminimum vertical cross sectional area of the portion for thecross tie that passes through the concrete cavity by the test datafrom the Test Method D732 test.
