Classification3.1 The vinyl composition floor tile covered by this speci-fication shall be non-asbestos formulated and classified asfollows: Class 1 for solid tile, Class 2 for through pattern tile,and Class 3 for surface pattern tile. The

The binder shall consist of one or more resins ofpoly(vinyl chloride) or vinyl chloride copolymers, or both,compounded with suitable plast
16、icizers and stabilizers. Othersuitable polymeric resins may be incorporated as a part of thebinder.5.2 Color, Pattern, and Wearing SurfaceThe color,pattern, and wearing surface, as applicable shall be as specifiedin the contract or order (see 4.1).NOTE 1The colors and patterns that are available are
17、 indicated inindividual manufacturers current catalogs. As manufactured, colors varysomewhat in hue and shade.5.3 Solid Color TileSolid color tile shall be uniformthroughout.5.4 Through Pattern TileIn through pattern tile, either thepattern and colors on the surface of the tile extend entirelythroug
18、h the thickness of the tile without significant change, orthe colors appearing on the surface shall extend throughout theentire thickness of the tile, although the appearance of thepattern created by these colors will change throughout thethickness.5.5 Surface Pattern TileThe pattern of this tile ne
19、ed notextend through the entire thickness of the tile.5.5.1 The appearance of the tile, when the wearing layer isremoved to a depth of 0.010 in. (0.254 mm), shall comparefavorably for decoration with the tiles original appearance.The removal of the wearing layer may be accomplished by anysuitable me
20、thod.6. Physical Properties6.1 SizeUnless otherwise specified (see 4.1.4), the tileshall be 12 by 12 in. (305 by 305 mm). A tolerance of 60.016in. (0.406 mm) per linear ft (305 mm) shall be permitted whenmeasured in accordance with Test Method F2055. Certainspecialty items are available in other siz
21、es.6.2 ThicknessUnless otherwise specified (see 4.1.5), thetile shall be furnished in116 in. (1.588-mm),332-in. (2.381-mm), and18-in. (3.175-mm) thickness. A tolerance of 60.005in. (0.127 mm) shall be permitted when measured in accor-dance with Test Method F386.6.3 SquarenessWhen tested in accordanc
22、e with TestMethod F2055, the out-of-squareness of the tile shall notexceed 0.010 in. (0.254 mm).7. Mechanical Properties7.1 Indentation:7.1.1 When the tile is tested in accordance with Test MethodF1914 at a temperature of 77F (25C), the indentation at theend of 1 min shall be not less than 0.006 in.
23、 (0.152 mm), andnot more than 0.015 in. (0.381 mm).7.1.2 When tested in accordance with Test Method F1914the indentation at the end of 10 min shall be in conformancewith the requirements of Table 1, and shall correspond to theindentation recorded at the end of 1 min.7.1.3 When tested in accordance w
24、ith Test Method F1914 ata temperature of 115F (46.1C), the indentation shall be lessthan 0.032 in. (0.813 mm) at the end of 30 s.7.1.4 Embossed TileWhen the requirement for flat surfaceas set forth in Test Method F1914 cannot be met, the test shallbe made by the manufacturer on unembossed stock and
25、themanufacturer shall supply a certificate of compliance.7.2 ImpactWhen the tile is tested in accordance with TestMethod F1265, the tile shall not break or crack beyond theprescribed circle of zinc oxide paste.7.2.1 For18-in. (3.175-mm) tile the weight shall be droppedfrom a height of 20 in. (508 mm
26、). For tile gage less than18-in.(3.175-mm), the weight shall be dropped from a height of 10in. (254 mm). Test all products with a 0.143-lb (0.065-kg)weight dropped 4 times.7.2.2 When testing embossed tile, inscribe a 3 618-in.(76.2 6 3.175-mm) diameter circle centrally on the back ofeach specimen wi
27、th a felt pen, pencil, or other suitable marker.Do not use the zinc oxide paste specified in Test MethodF1265. Cracks should not go beyond the 3 618-in. (76.2 63.175-mm) diameter circle. The test shall be run on thespecimen with the wearing surface up.8. Performance Requirements8.1 DeflectionThe til
28、e, when tested in accordance withTest Method F1304, shall deflect not less than 1.0 in. (25.4mm) both across and with the grain, without breaking.8.2 Dimensional StabilityWhen tested in accordance withTest Method F2199, the linear dimensions shall not changemore than 0.024 in. (0.610 mm) per linear
29、foot.8.3 Resistance to Chemicals:8.3.1 The chemical resistance of the tile shall be determinedin accordance with Test Method F925. Vinyl composition floortile shall have no more than a slight change in surface dulling,surface attack, or staining when exposed to the followingchemicals:8.3.1.1 White v
30、inegar (5 % acetic acid),8.3.1.2 Rubbing alcohol (70 % isopropyl alcohol),8.3.1.3 White mineral oil (medicinal grade),8.3.1.4 Sodium hydroxide solution (5 % NaOH),8.3.1.5 Household ammonia solution (5 % NH4OH),8.3.1.6 Household bleach (5.25 % NaOCl),8.3.1.7 Olive oil (light),8.3.1.8 Kerozene (K1),8.

34、 compositionfloor tile shall have an average E not greater than 8.0 after 7days exposure to 158F (70C).9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 The floor tile furnished in accordance with this specifi-cation shall be an acceptable match to approved samples inpattern, color, and surface appearance.
35、The product shall befree of defects that adversely affect performance or appearance.Such defects include blemishes, spots, indentations, cracks,blisters, and breaks in corners or edges.10. Sampling10.1 Sampling for testing physical properties, mechanicalproperties, and performance requirements liste
36、d in Table A1.1shall be done in accordance with the provisions set forth inANSI/ASQC Z1.4. The inspection level shall be specialinspection level S-1, as noted in Table I, and the acceptablequality level (AQL) shall be 6.5 defects per hundred units asnoted in Table II-Aor as otherwise specified in 10
37、.2 herein. Thelot size shall be expressed in units. A unit represents a single,manufactured, inventoried, finished tile.10.2 Sampling for testing physical properties, mechanicalproperties, and performance requirements listed in Table A1.1shall be agreed upon by the purchaser and the manufacturer asp
38、art of the procurement document.11. Conditioning11.1 Conditioning in AirCondition the specimens forphysical tests in air maintained at 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and50 6 5 % relative humidity for not less than 3 h before testing.11.2 Conditioning in WaterMaintain the water tempera-ture at 77 6 0.9F (25 6
39、 0.5C) unless otherwise specified.Immerse the specimen for not less than 15 min or more than 30min before testing in either air or water.12. Inspection12.1 Inspection of the vinyl composition floor tile fordefects that would adversely affect performance shall be donein accordance with the provisions
40、 set forth in ANSI/ASQCZ1.4. The inspection level shall be level L-1, as noted in TableI, and the acceptable quality level (AQL) shall be 6.5 defectsper hundred units as noted in Table II-A or as otherwisespecified in 12.2 herein. The lot size shall be expressed in units.A unit represents a single,

Certification13.1 When specified in the purchase order or co
42、ntract, amanufacturers certification and any other documents requiredto substantiate certification shall be furnished to the purchaserthat the material was manufactured to meet this specification.14. Product Marking14.1 Unless otherwise specified in the purchase order orcontract, shipping containers
43、 shall be marked with the name ofthe material as defined by the contract or order under which theshipment is made, the size, thickness, the pattern number, thequantity contained therein and the name of the manufacturer orshall be as specified in 4.1.14.2 When product sample sets, sample set cover ca
44、rds,marketing and technical literature reference this specification,the complete products classification information relative to thisspecification shall be included.15. Packaging and Packing15.1 The vinyl composition floor tile shall be packaged inaccordance with normal commercial practice and packe
45、d toensure acceptance by common carrier and to provide protectionagainst damage during normal shipping, handling, and storageor shall be as specified in 4.1.8.16. Special Government Requirements16.1 The depressed areas of embossed tile shall involve nomore than one third of the original, flat tile s
46、urface area priorto embossing as measured on a full tile. On embossed tile, thereshall be no depressed area into which a58-in.
