Performance Requirements6.1

16、 The requirements listed in this section and in Table 1 areminimal for new and reconditioned mats.6.2 Shock Absorption:6.2.1 Determine the shock absorption properties of the matsin accordance with Procedure A of Test Method F355.6.2.2 The maximum gmaxvalues for the mats shall be aslisted in Table 1.

17、NOTE 3Under the specified test conditions (that is, missile size, impact velocity, etc.), lower gmaxvalues indicate better shock-absorbingproperties.6.2.3 Replace or recondition the mats when the gmaxin thevisibly deteriorated areas exceed the values listed in Table 1.6.3 Thickness:6.3.1 The thicknes

It isstrongly recommended that the mat owner test the mat peri-odically to determine when to replace or recondition a mat.NOTE 4Contact the manufacturer if help is needed in testing the mat.6.4 The surfaces shall be smooth and free of step-offs ordepres

These sections shallbe fastened securely together, using an adhesive coated tape orother means, to prevent their becoming separated during use.7.

21、2 A mat shall have a maximum of 20 sections, unlessotherwise specified.7.3 Mats of the coating/foam construction shall not be usedif any areas of the coating are missing. (WarningAreas ofmats of coating/foam construction having missing coating areconsidered health hazards.)NOTE 5Mats should be clean

22、ed and sanitized daily, or after each use,as recommended by the manufacturer.8. Dimensions8.1 The mats shall meet the requirements for minimaldimensions and markings given in the rules of the NationalCollegiate Athletic Association, the U.S. Wrestling Federation, and the National Federation of State

23、High SchoolAssociations.8.2 The length and width dimensions of the mats shall be asgiven in the appropriate rule book.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 The mats shall be made using manufacturing procedureswhich ensure that the bonds between the strips or sections, orcoating, or all three, ar

25、r cause them totrip.9.3 Sectional mats shall have sections that fit togethersecurely, so they do not separate in use, with maximumstep-offs between sections of116 in. (1.6 mm) for new mats.10. Specimen Preparation10.1 The test specimens may be a finished mat, a section cutfrom a finished mat, or a s

26、maller sample made at the same timeand with the same construction and materials as the mat.10.2 Coated mats must be aged to “cure the mats beforetesting. This is necessary to ensure the evaporation of solventsfrom the coating and foam core. (WarningUnreliable datawill result from mats containing sol

Test Methods11.1 Conduct the test

28、s at a temperature of 73.4 6 3.6F (236 2C) and 50 6 5 % relative humidity, unless otherwisespecified.11.2 The shock absorption properties of the mats shall bedetermined using Test Method F355 with the following condi-tions:11.2.1 Procedure A, cylindrical missile.11.2.2 Impact velocities of 167 6 8.6

29、 in./s (423 6 22 cm/s).NOTE 8Impact velocity, rather than a drop height, is specified toeliminate the problem of friction on the guide rails of the missile. Minoramounts of friction can be overcome by simply increasing the drop height.Cleaning or lubricating, or both, the guide rods and bearing will

30、 normallyeliminate greater amounts of friction.11.3 Measure the thickness as outlined in SpecificationD1056, or as specified by agreement between the purchaserand the supplier.12. Product Marking12.1 Each mat shall have appropriate warning labels perma-nently attached to the performing surfaces.13.
