3、ve the carpet cleaning mechanism of anupright, canister, stick, or combination vacuum cleaner in astraight line with forward and backward stroking on a selectionof typical carpeted surfaces.1.2 This test method can be used in the testing of householdand commercial vacuum cleaners.1.3 This test metho

4、d measures the relative work needed tomove the vacuum cleaner with its motor or motors in opera-tion.1.4 This test method applies to the vacuum cleaning ofcarpets only.1.5 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. Summary of Test Method3.1 The carpet cleaning mechanism of the vacuum cleaner ismoved back and forth on the test carpet in a prescribed mannerduring the test. A handle clamp assembly with

9、a strain gage isattached to the vacuum cleaner at the location where the usersworking hand usually grips the carpet cleaning mechanism.This gage measures the force involved in moving only thecarpet cleaning mechanism.3.2 Simultaneously, by means of a rod pivotally mounted tothe test fixture, the dis

10、tance that the vacuum cleaner moves ismonitored. The force and distance signals are then introducedinto an X-Y recorder that produces a plot from which relativework is determined. Alternate data acquisition and computingmethods are acceptable.4. Significance and Use4.1 This test method measures the

11、relative work required bythe user during the cleaning operation for the movement of avacuum cleaner in the home or other cleaning location.Relative work is defined as the work measured by the equip-ment described in this test method.4.2 This measurement is relative to the work performed bythe user o
