Scope1.1 This specification covers solid vinyl2floor tiles that aremon

3、olithic, surface decorated or printed, and that have bindercontents referenced in Table 1.1.2 This type of floor covering is intended for use incommercial, light commercial, and residential buildings. Gen-eral information and performance characteristics which deter-mine serviceability and recommende

4、d use are included in thisspecification.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory

17、.8). The basic chemicalsused in the test are those likely to be found in domestic,commercial and institutional use. Many proprietary com-pounds contain one or more of these basic chemicals. Shouldthe flooring for unusual application need to be resistant to aspecific chemical, this additional require

18、ment should becomepart of the procurement document.4.1.12 Other requirements (agreement between the manu-facturer and the purchaser).5. Material and Manufacture5.1 MaterialThe tile shall be composed of binder, filler,and pigments compounded with suitable lubricants and pro-cessing aids. The binder c

19、onsists of one or more polymers orcopolymers of vinyl chloride, other modifying resins, plasti-cizers, and stabilizers which comprise at least the followingminimum percent weight: see Table 1. The polymers orcopolymers of vinyl chloride comprise at least 60 % of theweight of the binder. Any copolyme

20、r of vinyl chloride usedshall contain at least 85 % vinyl chloride.5.2 Class, Type, and Pattern NumberThe class, type, andpattern number, as applicable shall be as specified in thecontract or order (see 4.1).NOTE 1The patterns that are available are indicated in individualmanufacturers current catal

21、ogs.5.3 Monolithic Vinyl TileThe tile shall be uniform, withrespect to color, pattern effect, and composition, throughout thethickness of the tile.5.4 Surface DecoratedIn surface-decorated tiles, the pat-tern and color need not extend through the entire thickness ofthe tile. The composition of each

22、layer shall be according toTable 1.5.4.1 The appearance of the tile, when the wearing layer isremoved by any suitable means, to a depth of 0.010 in. (0.25mm) shall compare favorably for decoration with the tilesoriginal appearance.5.5 Printed Film Vinyl TileThe structure of printed solidvinyl tiles

23、is formed of vinyl wear layer which may betransparent or translucent. The pattern and colors are created bya print between the wear layer and the intermediate coloredlayer or base layer. Other base layers may be added. Each plyor layer will comply with Table 1 for binder content.5.5.1 For commercial

24、 applications, the wear layer shall be aminimum of 0.020 in. (0.50 mm) thick.6. Physical Requirements Physical Requirements6.1 Binder ContentThe binder content of each ply or layershall be determined by statement of formula (ManufacturerCertificate of Compliance).6.2 Size5Unless otherwise specified

25、(see 4.1.4), the tileshall be 12 by 12 in. (305 by 305 mm). A tolerance of 60.016in. (0.4 mm) per linear ft (305 mm) shall be permitted whenmeasured in accordance with Test Method F2055. Certainspecialty items are available in other sizes.6.3 ThicknessUnless otherwise specified (see 4.1.5), thetile

26、shall be furnished in 0.0625-in. (1.6-mm), 0.080-in. (2-mm), 0.100-in. (2.5-mm), and 0.125-in. (3-mm) thicknesses. Atolerance of 60.005 in. (0.13 mm) shall be permitted whentested in accordance with Test Method F386.6.4 Squareness5When tested in accordance with TestMethod F2055, the out-of-squarenes

27、s of the tile shall notexceed 0.010 in. (0.25 mm).6.5 Residual IndentationWhen tested in accordance withTest Method F1914 under 140lb (63.5kg) load, 0.178in.(4.5mm) diameter flat foot and 10 min indentation, theaverage residual indentation at the end of 60min recoveryshall not exceed 8 %, and the ma

28、ximum residual indentation ofany single specimen shall not exceed 10 %.6.6 FlexibilityWhen tested in accordance with TestMethod F137 and a mandrel size of 1in. (25.4 mm), the tileshall show no cracks or breaks.6.7 Dimensional StabilityWhen tested in accordance withTest Method F2199, the tile shall n

29、ot change in linear dimen-sions more than 0.020 in. (0.5 mm) per linear ft.6.8 Resistance to ChemicalsThe chemical resistance ofsolid vinyl tile shall be determined in accordance with TestMethod F925. The tile shall have no more than a slight changein surface dulling, surface attack, or staining whe

30、n exposed tothe following chemicals:6.8.1 White vinegar (5 % acetic acid),6.8.2 Rubbing alcohol (70 % isopropyl alcohol),6.8.3 White mineral oil (medicinal grade),6.8.4 Sodium hydroxide solution (5 % NaOH),6.8.5 Hydrochloric acid solution (5 % Hcl),6.8.6 Sulfuric acid solution (5 % H2SO4),6.8.7 Hous

31、ehold ammonia solution (5 % NH4OH),6.8.8 Household bleach (5.25 % NaOCl),6.8.9 Olive oil (light),6.8.10 Kerozene (K1),6.8.11 Unleaded gasoline (regular grade), and6.8.12 Phenol (5 % active phenol).NOTE 2The basic chemicals are representative of those likely to befound in residential, commercial, and

32、 institutional use. Many proprietarycompounds contain one or more of these basic chemicals. Should theflooring for an unusual application need to be resistant to a specificchemical, this additional requirement should become part of the procure-ment document.5For size, squareness, and tolerances, wor

(305 by 305 mm).F1700 04 (2010)26.9 Resistance to HeatWhen tested in accordance to TestMethod F1514, the color change of the solid vinyl tile shallhave an average DE not greater than 8.0 after 7 days exposureto 158F (70C).6.10 Resistance to LightWhen tested

34、 in accordance toTest Method F1515, the color change of the solid vinyl tileshall have an average DE not greater than 8.0 after a 300hexposure.7. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 The floor tile furnished in accordance with this specifi-cation shall be an acceptable match to approved samples in

35、pattern, color, and surface appearance. The product shall befree of defects which adversely affect performance or appear-ance. Such defects include blemishes, breaks in corners oredges, and delamination of the plies.8. Sampling for Test8.1 Sampling for testing physical properties, mechanicalproperti

36、es, and performance requirements listed in Table 2shall be done in accordance with the provisions set forth inANSI/ASQC Z1.41993. The inspection level shall be specialinspection level S-1, as noted in Table I, and the acceptablequality level (AQL) shall be 6.5 defects per hundred units asnoted in Ta

37、ble II-A or as otherwise specified in 8.2 herein. Thelot size shall be expressed in units. A unit represents a single,manufactured, inventoried, finished tile.8.2 Sampling for testing physical properties, mechanicalproperties, and performance requirements listed in Table 2shall be agreed upon by the

38、 purchaser and the manufacturer aspart of the procurement document.9. Conditioning9.1 Conditioning in AirCondition the specimens forphysical tests in air maintained at 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and50 6 5 % relative humidity for not less than 3 h before testing.9.2 Conditioning in WaterMaintain the water

39、 temperatureat 77 6 0.9F (25 6 0.5C) unless otherwise specified.Immerse the specimen for not less than 15 min or more than 30min before testing in either air or water.10. Inspection10.1 Inspection of the solid floor tile for defects that wouldadversely affect performance shall be done in accordance

40、withthe provisions set forth in ANSI/ASQC Z1.41993. Theinspection level shall be level L-1, as noted in Table I, and theacceptable quality level (AQL) shall be 6.5 defects per hundredunits as noted in Table II-A or as otherwise specified in 10.2herein. The lot size shall be expressed in units. A uni

41、trepresents a single, manufactured, inventoried, finished tile.10.2 Inspection of the solid floor tile for defects that wouldadversely affect performance shall be agreed upon by thepurchaser and the manufacturer as part of the procurementdocument.11. Certification11.1 When specified in the purchase

42、order or contract, amanufacturers certification and any other documents requiredto substantiate certification shall be furnished to the purchaser,that the material meets this specification.12. Packaging, Packing, and Marking12.1 Unless otherwise specified in the purchase order orcontract, shipping c

43、ontainers shall be marked with the name ofthe material as defined by the contract or order under which theshipment is made, the size, thickness, the pattern number, thequantity contained therein, and the name of the manufacturer.12.2 The vinyl floor tile shall be packaged in accordancewith normal co

44、mmercial practice and packed to ensure accep-tance by common carrier and to provide protection againstdamage during normal shipping, handling, and storage or shallbe as specified in 4.1.8.13. Special U. S. Government Requirements13.1 The depressed areas of embossed tile shall involve nomore than one

45、 third of the original, flat tile surface area priorto embossing as measured on a full tile. On embossed tile, thereshall be no depressed area into which a 0.625-in. (16-mm)diameter circle can be placed, except that this shall not apply totile that has an overall embossed surface, such as brick, sla

46、te,or other textures.14.
