There are two having lesser pipe stiffness values,designed primarily for concrete encased burial (EB), and th
19、reewith greater pipe stiffness values, designed primarily for directburial (DB). The complete designations follow:Type EB-20 Designed to be encased in concrete.Type EB-35 Designed to be encased in concrete.Type DB-60 Designed for direct burial without encasement in concrete.Type DB-100 Designed for
20、direct burial without encasement in concrete.Type DB-120 Designed for direct burial without encasement in concrete.4.2 This specification covers conduit with integral bells, orwith either separate or attached couplings.4.3 This specification covers molded and fabricated fittingsintended for use with
21、 all types of conduit.5. Materials5.1 Basic MaterialsThe conduit shall be made of virginhomopolymer PVC compound having a cell classification of12254, 121643(with a minimum tensile strength of 4000 psi(28 MPa), or 12264(with a minimum tensile modulus of500 000 psi) as defined in Specification D1784.
22、 Moldedfittings shall be made from PVC compound having a cellclassification of 12234 or 13343 as defined in SpecificationD1784. Homopolymer PVC compounds must equal or exceedthe requirements of the listed cell classification numbers.5.2 Rework MaterialsRework material from the manufac-turers own con
23、duit or fittings production may be used by thesame manufacturer, provided that the conduit or fittings pro-duced meet all of the requirements of this specification.Rework material from the manufactures coextruded cellularcore conduit shall be used in the core if it contains any residualblowing agent

The pipe produced shall meet all of therequirements of this specification.5.3 Recycled PVC MaterialsRecycled PVC materials con-forming to the cell classification of this specification may beused provided they are clean and free from foreign materialsand provided that the conduit or fittings produc
25、ed meet allrequirements of this specification.5.4 Solvent CementThe solvent cement shall meet therequirements of Specification D2564.6. Requirements6.1 WorkmanshipThe conduit and fittings shall be homo-geneous throughout, and free from visible cracks, holes,foreign inclusions, or other injurious def
26、ects. The conduit andfittings shall be as uniform as is commercially practical incolor, opacity, density, and other physical properties.6.2 Dimensions:6.2.1 Dimensions shall be determined in accordance withTest Method D2122.6.2.2 The dimensions and tolerances of the conduit shall beas specified in T
27、able 1.6.2.3 LengthsConduit shall be supplied in lengths of 20 or25 ft, or as otherwise agreed upon between the purchaser andthe seller. A length shall be considered to be the overall lengthof the conduit, including integral bell, or coupling if attached,unless otherwise specified. Tolerance on leng
28、th shall be 61 in.(625 mm).6.2.4 Integral Bell Dimensions:6.2.4.1 Two systems of fit for integral bells are in commonuse. Unless otherwise specified, the manufacturer may employeither of them.6.2.4.2 Interference Fit SystemThe dimensions and toler-ances listed in Columns A and B of Table 1 in Specif
29、icationD2466 provide a satisfactory interference fit system betweenpipe and socket.6.2.4.3 Clearance Fit SystemThe dimensions and toler-ances listed in Table 2 of this specification provide a satisfac-tory clearance fit system.6.2.5 The wall thickness of integral bells and sweeps shallbe considered

35、nd types of conduit fittings shall beas specified in Tables 3-17.6.2.9.2 Conduit fittings shall be capable of passing a ball14 in. (6 mm) less in diameter than the nominal size of theconduit.6.2.9.3 The dimensions of sweeps and bends shall be asspecified in Table 17. Sweeps and bends shall be made f
36、romDB-60 or DB-120 conduit. Sweeps made from DB-60 conduitare intended for use with EB-20 and DB-60 conduit. Sweepsmade from DB-120 conduit are intended for use with EB-35and DB-120 conduit.6.3 Minimum Pipe Stiffness:6.3.1 The minimum pipe stiffness ( F/y) values for conduitshall be in conformance w
37、ith Table 18, when tested inaccordance with 8.3. Three specimens shall be tested, all shallmeet the requirements.6.3.2 Referee TestThe minimum pipe stiffness (F/y)values shall be in accordance with Table 18 when tested inaccordance with Test Method D2412 at 5 % deflection.6.4 Impact StrengthThe mini
38、mum drop weight impactstrength values for conduit shall be as listed in Table 19, whentested in accordance with 8.1.6.4.1 The impact test is a quality control test, to be per-formed at the time of manufacture.6.5 Joint Tightness (Referee Test)The joints shall not leakwhen tested in accordance with 8
39、.2.6.6 Extrusion QualityThe conduit shall not flake or dis-integrate when tested in accordance with Test Method D2152.6.7 BondFor pipe produced by the coextrusion process,that is , pipe containing two or more concentric layers, the bondbetween the layers shall be strong and uniform. It shall not bep
40、ossible to separate any two layers with a probe or point of aknife blade so that the layers separate cleanly so the probe orknife blade moves freely between the layers. Nor shall sepa-ration of bond occur between layers during testing performedunder the requirements of this specification.7. Conditio
41、ning7.1 Referee TestingWhen conditioning is required forreferee tests, condition the specimens in accordance withProcedure A in Methods D618 at 23 6 2C and 50 6 5%relative humidity for not less than 40 h prior to test. Conducttests under the same conditions of temperature and humidity,unless otherwi

When testing is performed at temperatures above 0C, nomore than 15 s shall elapse from the time of removal of thespecimen from the conditioning medium until completion ofthat test. Specimen
49、s may be positioned with a random surfaceuppermost, but must be located so that the contact point iscentered. All five specimens shall pass.
