Top Rail Sleeves5.1 Top rail sleeves shall be fabricated from pressed steel orround steel tubing and hot-dip galvanized with a minimum of1.2 oz/ft2366 g/m2 of zinc coating of surface area, or fromaluminum alloy 6063-T6 (see Specification B 221, B 221M orSpecification B 429).5.
16、2 Rail sleeve material shall be a minimum of 0.051 in. 1.3mm in thickness if steel, or a minimum of 0.062 in. 1.8 mmin thickness if aluminum alloy, and a minimum of 6 in. 152.4mm in length.5.3 The rail sleeve must be fabricated to prevent movementalong the rail.6. Tie Wires and Clips6.1 Tie wires or
17、 clips, or both, for attaching chain-link fabricto round tubular or rectangular roll-formed horizontal rails andintermediate posts shall be one of the following systems, asselected by the purchaser:6.1.1 Standard Round Wire Ties with either a preformedhook or pigtail at one end, designed to engage o
18、ne picket of thechain-link fabric at the preformed end, wrap around the rail orpost a minimum of 180, and wrap around one picket of thechain link fabric at least one full turn at the other end in amanner that will draw up tightly around the rail or post.Standard round wire ties shall be of one of th
19、e followingmaterials, as selected by the purchaser:6.1.1.1 Twelve-gage (0.106 6 0.004-in. 2.69 6 0.10-mm)steel with a tensile strength range from 55 to 65 ksi and withone of the following coatings, as selected by the purchaser:(1) A minimum of 0.80 oz/ft2230 g/m2 of zinc inaccordance with Specificat

The two ends of the tie shall bepreformed in such a manner that they can be twisted together
24、in a close helix of 112 machine turns, which is equivalent to 3full twists, thereby drawing up tightly around the rail or postand the chain-link fabric. Power-fastened round wire ties shallbe of either 6-gage (0.192 6 0.005-in. 4.88 6 0.125-mm) or9-gage (0.148 6 0.005-in. 3.76 6 0.125-mm) steel asse
25、lected by the purchaser, with a tensile strength range from 65to 75 ksi, and with one of the following coatings, as selected bythe purchaser:(1) A minimum of 2.00 oz/ft2600 g/m2 of zinc for 6-gageor 1.80 oz/ft2540 g/m2 of zinc for 9-gage in accordance withSpecification A 641 (A 641M), Class B coatin
26、g.(2) A minimum of 0.40 oz/ft2122 g/m2 of aluminum for6-gage or 9-gage in accordance with Specification A 809.6.1.2.2 Manually Fastened Round Wire Ties, of sufficientlength to weave through the fence fabric, wrap around the postor rail a full 360 and be twisted securely with three full twists.At the
27、 contractors option, these ties may be power twisted.After twisting, the protruding wire ends shall be cut off toprevent untwisting by hand. Manually fastened round wire tiesshall be of either 6-gage (0.192 6 0.005-in. 4.88 6 0.125mm) or 9-gage (0.148 6 0.005-in. 3.76 6 0.125-mm) steelas selected by
28、 the purchaser, with a tensile strength range from55 to 65 ksi, and with one of the following coatings, as selectedby the purchaser:(1) A minimum of 1.2 oz/ft2366 g/m2 of zinc in accor-dance with Specification A 817, Type 2, Class 1.(2) A minimum of 0.40 oz/ft2122 g/m2 of aluminum inaccordance with

The ends ofthe tie shall be preformed in such a manner that they willinterlock and flatten down into a

Interlocking flat wire ties shall be fabricated from0.0625 by 0.375-in. 1.59 by 9.53-mm flat aluminum Alloy5052-H32 wire with a tolerance of 60.005 in. 61.25 mm.6.1.4 Power-Driven Fasteners, consisting of a knurled pinof carbon steel, heat treated to a ha
31、rdness of RC 5256 and aminimum tensile strength of 240 000 psi 1655 MPa. Finishshall be zinc electroplating of 0.0003-in. 0.0076-mm mini-mum thickness, evaluated for corrosion resistance for 72consecutive hours with no signs of rust or corrosion whentested in accordance with Practice B 117. Cap shal

Round wireclips for H-beam posts shall be fabricated from either steel wirewith a minimum o
34、f 0.90 oz/ft2275 g/m2 of zinc coating inaccordance with Specification A 641 (A 641M), Class 3 or Acoating, or aluminum Alloy 1350-H19 wire.6.3 Round wire hog rings for attaching chain-link fabric tohorizontal tension wire shall be either 12-gage (0.106 60.005-in. 2.69 6 0.125-mm) steel wire with a m
35、inimum of0.80 oz/ft2230 g/m2 of zinc coating in accordance withSpecification A 641 (A 641M), Class 3 or A coating, or 9-gage(0.148 6 0.005-in. 3.76 6 0.125-mm) aluminum Alloy1350-H19 wire.6.4 Round metallic-coated steel tie wires, clips, and hogrings shall withstand all forming or twisting operation
36、s, orboth, without cracking or flaking of the coating to such anextent that any zinc or aluminum can be removed by rubbingwith the bare fingers.NOTE 2Loosening or detachment during forming or twisting opera-tions, or both, of superficial, small particles of coating metal formed bymechanical polishin
37、g of the surface of the coating wire shall not beconsidered cause for rejection.6.5 Where specified, round metallic-coated tie wires, clips,and hog rings shall be polymer coated to match the color of thechain-link fabric, as selected from Specification F 934. Thecoating process and metallic-coated c
38、ore wire materials shallbe in accordance with Specification F 668. The diameter of themetallic-coated core wire shall be identical to that specified forthe chain-link fabric, but shall not be smaller than 11 gage(0.120 6 0.005 in. 3.05 6 0.125 mm) and not larger than 9gage (0.148 6 0.005 in. 3.76 6
39、0.125 mm). The tensilestrength of the core wire constituting the tie wires, clips, andhog rings shall be suitable to accommodate a manual or powerfastening process without causing damage to the metallic orpolymer coatings.NOTE 3Although rust formation on the cut ends or other unprotectedsurface area
40、s of steel tie wires is primarily an inherent characteristic ofaluminum coated steel wire, rejections of material exhibiting this condi-tion will not be warranted irrespective of the core wire material employedunless it causes significant and noticeable staining of the tie, the chain-linkfabric, the

Tension and Brace Bands7.1 Tension and brace bands shall be fabricated frompressed steel and hot-dip galvanized with a minimum of 1.2oz/ft2366 g/m2 of zinc coating of surface area, or fromaluminum alloy 6063-T5, 6063-T6, or 8176H19 (see Speci-fication B 211, B 2
42、11M, B 221, B 221M, or B 800).7.2 Tension bands shall be a minimum of 14 gage (0.074 in.1.88 mm) in thickness and a minimum of34 in. 19.05 mmin width.7.3 Brace bands shall be a minimum of 12 gage (0.105 in.2.66 mm) in thickness and a minimum of34 in. 19.05 mmin width.8. Tension Bars8.1 Steel tension
43、 bars shall be fabricated from merchantquality steel and hot-dip galvanized with a minimum of 1.2oz/ft2366 g/m2 of zinc coating of surface area.8.2 Fiberglass tension bars shall be manufactured fromunidirectional E-glass fibers in accordance with MIL-R-60346-C and processed to produce the desired sh
