Top Rail Sleeves5.1 Top rail sleeves shall be fabricated from pressed steel orround steel tubing and hot-dip galvanized with a minimum of1.2 oz/ft2(366 g/m2) of zinc coating of surface area, or fromaluminum a
16、lloy 6063-T6 (see Specification B 221, B 221M orSpecification B 429/B 429M).5.2 Rail sleeve material shall be a minimum of 0.051 in. (1.3mm) in thickness if steel, or a minimum of 0.062 in. (1.8 mm)in thickness if aluminum alloy, and a minimum of 6 in. (152.4mm) in length.5.3 The rail sleeve must be
17、 fabricated to prevent movementalong the rail.6. Tie Wires and Clips6.1 Tie wires or clips, or both, for attaching chain-link fabricto round tubular or rectangular roll-formed horizontal rails andintermediate posts shall be one of the following systems, asselected by the purchaser:6.1.1 Standard Rou
18、nd Wire Ties with either a preformedhook or pigtail at one end, shall be designed of sufficient lengthto engage one picket of the chain-link fabric at the preformedend of the tie by wrapping it with two 360 degree turns andthen wrapping the body of the tie around the rail or post aminimum of 180 deg
19、rees. The opposite end of the tie should besecured to the nearest chain-link fabric picket on this other sideof the post or rail also with two 360 degree wraps. The finalprocess of tightening the tie on the fabric picket wire shoulddraw the fabric and the main body to the tie tightly to the railor p
20、ost. Care must be taken to ensure that the ends of the tiesor clips do not protrude beyond the vertical plane on either sideof the chain-link fabric to avoid injury to pedestrians in contactwith the fence. Standard round wire ties shall be of one of thefollowing materials, as selected by the purchas
21、er:6.1.1.1 Twelve-gage (0.106 6 0.004-in. (2.69 6 0.10-mm)steel with a tensile strength range from 55 to 65 ksi and withone of the following coatings, as selected by the purchaser:(1) A minimum of 0.80 oz/ft2(230 g/m2) of zinc in accor-dance with Specification A 641 (A 641M), Class 3 or Acoating.(2)
22、 A minimum of 0.35 oz/ft2(107 g/m2) of aluminum inaccordance with Specification A 809.6.1.1.2 Nine-gage (0.148 6 0.005-in. (3.76 6 0.10-mm)steel with a tensile strength range from 55 to 65 ksi and withone of the following coatings, as selected by the purchaser:(1) A minimum of 0.90 oz/ft2(270 g/m2)

(4.88 6 0.125-mm) aluminumAlloy 1350-H19 or approved equal.6.1.2 High-Security Round Wire Ties shall be one of thefollowing, as selected by the purchaser:6.1.2.1 Power-Fastened Roun
25、d Wire Ties, preformed to theradius of the rail or post and configurated to wrap a full 360around the rail or post and minimum of one complete diamondof the chain-link fabric. The two ends of the tie shall bepreformed in such a manner that they can be twisted togetherin a close helix of 112 machine
26、turns, which is equivalent to 3full twists, thereby drawing up tightly around the rail or postand the chain-link fabric. Power-fastened round wire ties shallbe of either 6-gage (0.192 6 0.005-in. (4.88 6 0.125-mm) or9-gage (0.148 6 0.005-in. (3.76 6 0.125-mm) steel asselected by the purchaser, with
27、a tensile strength range from 65to 75 ksi, and with one of the following coatings, as selected bythe purchaser:(1) A minimum of 2.00 oz/ft2(600 g/m2) of zinc for 6-gageor 1.80 oz/ft2(540 g/m2) of zinc for 9-gage in accordance withSpecification A 641 (A 641M), Class B coating.(2) A minimum of 0.40 oz
28、/ft2(122 g/m2) of aluminum for6-gage or 9-gage in accordance with Specification A 809.6.1.2.2 Manually Fastened Round Wire Ties, of sufficientlength to weave through the fence fabric, wrap around the postor rail a full 360 and be twisted securely with three full twists.At the contractors option, the
29、se ties may be power twisted.After twisting, the protruding wire ends shall be cut off toprevent untwisting by hand. Manually fastened round wire tiesshall be of either 6-gage (0.192 6 0.005-in. (4.88 6 0.125mm) or 9-gage (0.148 6 0.005-in. (3.76 6 0.125-mm) steelas selected by the purchaser, with a
30、 tensile strength range from55 to 65 ksi, and with one of the following coatings, as selectedby the purchaser:(1) A minimum of 1.2 oz/ft2(366 g/m2) of zinc in accor-dance with Specification A 817, Type 2, Class 1.(2) A minimum of 0.40 oz/ft2(122 g/m2) of aluminum inaccordance with Specification A 80
31、9.6.1.3 Interlocking Flat Wire Ties, preformed to the radius ofthe rail or post and configurated to wrap a full 360 around therail or post and one picket of the chain-link fabric. The ends ofthe tie shall be preformed in such a manner that they willinterlock and flatten down into a double closed loo
32、p against therail or post. Interlocking flat wire ties shall be fabricated from0.0625 by 0.375-in. (1.59 by 9.53-mm) flat aluminum Alloy5052-H32 wire with a tolerance of 60.005 in. (61.25 mm).6.1.4 Power-Driven Fasteners, consisting of a knurled pinof carbon steel, heat treated to a hardness of RC 5
33、256 and aminimum tensile strength of 240 000 psi (1655 MPa). Finishshall be zinc electroplating of 0.0003-in. (0.0076-mm) mini-mum thickness, evaluated for corrosion resistance for 72consecutive hours with no signs of rust or corrosion whentested in accordance with Practice B117. Cap shall be Type30
34、4 stainless steel332 in. (2.38 mm) thick. For 9-gage or11-gage fabric other than38-in. (9.53-mm) mesh, the pin shallF626082be 1 in. (25.4 mm) long. For38-in. mesh and 6-gage fabric, thepin shall be 114 in. (31.75 mm) long.6.2 Round wire clips for attaching chain-link fabric toH-beam posts shall be a
35、 minimum of 7-gage (0.177 60.005-in. (4.50 6 0.125-mm) wire, preformed and configu-rated to engage both edges of the fabric side of the flange of theH-beam and one picket of the chain-link fabric. Round wireclips for H-beam posts shall be fabricated from either steel wirewith a minimum of 0.90 oz/ft
36、2(275 g/m2) of zinc coating inaccordance with Specification A 641 (A 641M), Class 3 or Acoating, or aluminum Alloy 1350-H19 wire.6.3 Round wire hog rings for attaching chain-link fabric tohorizontal tension wire shall be either 12-gage (0.106 60.005-in. (2.69 6 0.125-mm) steel wire with a minimum of
37、0.80 oz/ft2(230 g/m2) of zinc coating in accordance withSpecification A 641 (A 641M), Class 3 or A coating, or 9-gage(0.148 6 0.005-in. (3.76 6 0.125-mm) aluminum Alloy1350-H19 wire.6.4 Round metallic-coated steel tie wires, clips, and hogrings shall withstand all forming or twisting operations, orb
38、oth, without cracking or flaking of the coating to such anextent that any zinc or aluminum can be removed by rubbingwith the bare fingers.NOTE 2Loosening or detachment during forming or twisting opera-tions, or both, of superficial, small particles of coating metal formed bymechanical polishing of t
39、he surface of the coating wire shall not beconsidered cause for rejection.6.5 Where specified, round metallic-coated tie wires, clips,and hog rings shall be polymer coated to match the color of thechain-link fabric, as selected from Specification F 934. Thecoating process and metallic-coated core wi
40、re materials shallbe in accordance with Specification F 668. The diameter of themetallic-coated core wire shall be identical to that specified forthe chain-link fabric, but shall not be smaller than 11 gage(0.120 6 0.005 in. (3.05 6 0.125 mm) and not larger than 9gage (0.148 6 0.005 in. (3.76 6 0.12
41、5 mm). The tensilestrength of the core wire constituting the tie wires, clips, andhog rings shall be suitable to accommodate a manual or powerfastening process without causing damage to the metallic orpolymer coatings.NOTE 3Although rust formation on the cut ends or other unprotectedsurface areas of
42、 steel tie wires is primarily an inherent characteristic ofaluminum coated steel wire, rejections of material exhibiting this condi-tion will not be warranted irrespective of the core wire material employedunless it causes significant and noticeable staining of the tie, the chain-linkfabric, the pos
43、t surface, or the rail surface.7. Tension and Brace Bands7.1 Tension and brace bands shall be fabricated frompressed steel and hot-dip galvanized with a minimum of 1.2oz/ft2(366 g/m2) of zinc coating of surface area, or fromaluminum alloy 6063-T5, 6063-T6, or 8176H19 (see Speci-fication B211, B211M,
44、 B 221, B 221M,orB 800).7.2 Tension bands shall be a minimum of 14 gage (0.074 in.(1.88 mm) in thickness and a minimum of34 in. (19.05 mm)in width.7.3 Brace bands shall be a minimum of 12 gage (0.105 in.(2.66 mm) in thickness and a minimum of34 in. (19.05 mm)in width.8. Tension Bars8.1 Steel tension
45、 bars shall be fabricated from merchantquality steel and hot-dip galvanized with a minimum of 1.2oz/ft2(366 g/m2) of zinc coating of surface area.8.2 Fiberglass tension bars shall be manufactured fromunidirectional E-glass fibers in accordance with MIL-R-60346-C and processed to produce the desired
46、shape andmechanical properties. The outer surface shall consist of aminimum average 1.5 mil (0.0015 in. (0.038 mm) thickweather resistant plastic coating.8.3 Aluminum alloy tension bars shall be 6061-T6 or6063-T6 alloy (see Specification B211Mor B 221M).8.4 Steel or fiberglass tension bars used to c
47、onnect 134 in.(44.5 mm) and 2 in. (50 mm) mesh fabric to end, gate andcorner posts shall be a minimum of316 in. (4.8 mm) by58 in.(15.9 mm) for fabric heights up to 5 ft (1.52 m) and a minimumof316 in. (4.9 mm) by34 in. (19.1 mm) for fabric heights over5 ft (1.52 m). Steel, fiberglass, or aluminum al
48、loy tension barsused to connect 1 in. (25.4 mm) mesh fabric to end, gate andcorner posts shall be a minimum of14 in. (6.4 mm) by38 in.(9.5 mm).8.5 Aluminum alloy tension bars used to connect 134 in.(44.5 mm) and 2 in. (50 mm) mesh fabric to end, gate andcorner posts shall be a minimum of14 in. (6.4
49、mm) by34 in.(19.1 mm).8.6 Minimum lengths of tension bar shall be 2 in. (50 mm)less than the full height of the chain link fabric.9. Truss Rod Assembly9.1 Steel truss rods shall be fabricated from516 in. (7.9 mm)merchant quality rod and it and all related devices shall behot-dip galvanized after threading with a minimum of 1.2oz/ft2(366 g/m2) of zinc coating of surface area.9.2 Aluminum alloy truss rods shall be fabricated from38in.
