Carpet and Pad Selection6.1 A test carpet or pad specified in this specification thatdoes not satisfy the requir
19、ements of Section 3 shall be replacedusing the procedures described in 6.2-6.6.6.2 A three-member task group shall be assigned fromSubcommittee F11.21.6.3 When the task group has tentatively agreed on areplacement carpet, the proposed carpet shall be evaluated. Thelaboratories of the three task grou
20、p members shall gather testdata. Testing shall be conducted in accordance with TestMethod F 608.6.3.1 Testing must be done with at least one agitator-typeupright vacuum cleaner, one combination cleaner, and onestraight air canister cleaner. The test cleaners selected shall beused for testing in all
21、three task group member laboratories.Additional cleaners may be used at the discretion of the taskgroup members.6.3.2 The proposed replacement test carpet shall be suppliedto each of the participating laboratories.6.3.3 Each test laboratory shall make certain that the sameintralaboratory technician
22、(or technicians, if more than one isrequired) conducts the required series of runs to establish thetest score for a cleaner type. The runs required for a test scorefor a cleaner type shall be a continuous series of runs within asingle working day.6.4 The carpet being selected shall have a constructi
23、onsimilar to that specified in Section 5. The proposed test carpetshall be judged equivalent if the average test score of theparticipating laboratories for each of the cleaner types fallswithin the specified limits listed when compared to the carpetit is intended to replace.Amount of Dirt Picked Up

Each of the three members of the task group sh

Every effort shall be made to replacethe specified carpet with a carpet that meets the limits listed inSection 3. Every effort shall be made to select a carpet thatprovides pickup performance, cleaner ranking, and
26、ratio ofperformance between agitator and straight air type vacuumcleaners within 10 % of that measured on the currentlyspecified carpet to be replaced.6.5 When the task group reaches agreement on the proposedcarpet, it will submit its recommendation and test data toSubcommittee F11.21 for approval a
27、nd subsequent ASTMballoting, including amendments to 5.1.6.6 If the specified carpet padding becomes obsolete, theprocedure specified in Section 6 shall be used to determine anequivalent replacement using all of the standard test carpetslisted in 5.1.7.
