Classification3.1 The designation of the property class for the twomaterials and conditions of this specification shall be consistentwith the stainless steel designations in Specification F 738M.3.2 The austenitic stainless steel socket set screw shall bedesignation F 880M A150 or F 880M A170.4.
10、 Ordering Information4.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe following information:4.1.1 Quantity (number of screws);4.1.2 Dimensions, including nominal thread designation,thread pitch, nominal screw length (millimetres) and pointconfiguration. A standard part number may be
11、 used for thisdefinition;4.1.3 Name of the screw (SSS);4.1.4 Property Class A1-50 or A1-70;4.1.5 Coating, if required. Materials and Manufacture5.1 The screw may be forged, formed, extruded, machined,or ground to meet the dimensional c
15、haracteristics and perfor-mance requirements.5.2 Heat TreatmentAustenitic alloy Class A1-50 screwsshall be annealed by heating to 1040 6 30C to obtainmaximum corrosion resistance and minimum permeability.The screws shall be held for a sufficient time at temperature,then cooled at a rate sufficient t
16、o prevent precipitation of thecarbide and provide the properties in accordance with Table 1.5.3 When Condition A170 is specified, the austeniticalloys shall be annealed as specified in 5.2, generally by theraw material manufacturer, then cold worked to developspecific properties.6. Chemical Composit
17、ion6.1 The analysis of the screw material shall conform to thechemical composition specified in Table 2.6.2 Unless otherwise specified in the inquiry and purchaseorder (see Supplementary Requirement S2), the choice of alloyused shall be that of the fastener manufacturer, as determinedby his fabricat
18、ion methods and material availability. Thespecific alloy used by the manufacturer shall be clearlyidentified on all certification required in the purchase order andshall have a chemical composition conforming to the limitsspecified in Table 2.6.3 When chemical analysis is performed by the purchaseru
19、sing finished fasteners representing each lot, the chemicalcontents obtained shall conform to the limits specified in Table2 for the specific alloy. Chemical composition shall conform tothe tolerances specified in Specification A 555/A 555M.6.3.1 In the event of a discrepancy, a referee analysis of
20、thesamples for each lot as specified in 12.1, shall be made inaccordance with 11.3.1.7. Mechanical Properties7.1 Socket set screws, when subjected to a torque test inaccordance with 12.2.1, shall withstand application of the testtightening torque specified in Table 2 without evidence of thesocket re
21、aming or the screw bursting.7.2 The hardness of 95 HRB (210 Vickers) maximum forcondition A1-50 and 80 HRB (150 Vickers) minimum forcondition A1-70 shall be met as determined using Test Meth-ods E 18, E 92, or Test Method E 384 as appropriate.8. Corrosion Resistance Requirements8.1 Carbide Precipita
22、tion:8.1.1 Rod, bar, and wire in the austenitic alloys groups 1, 2,3, except the free-machining grades, 303 and 303Se, used tomake fasteners in accordance with this specification shall becapable of passing the test for susceptibility to intergranularcorrosion as specified in Practice E of Practices
23、A 262.8.1.2 As stated in Practices A 262, samples may be sub-jected to the faster and more severe screening test in accor-dance with Practice A. Failing Practice A, specimens shall betested to Practice E and be considered satisfactory if passingPractice E.9. Dimensions9.1 Unless otherwise specified,
24、 the product shall conform tothe requirements of ASME B 18.3.6M.10. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance10.1 Surface TreatmentUnless otherwise specified,screws shall be cleaned, descaled, and passivated in accordancewith Practice A 380 or Specification A 967 at the option of themanufacturer.10.2 Surf
25、ace Discontinuities:10.2.1 The surface discontinuities for these products shallconform to Specification F 788/F 788M and the additionallimitations specified herein.10.2.1.1 Processing cracks that connect the socket to theperiphery of the screw are not permissible. Defects originatingon the periphery
26、 with a traverse indicating a potential tointersect are not permissible. For peripheral discontinuities, themaximum depth may be 0.06 D.11. Additional tests ofindividual shipments of fasteners are not ordinarily necessary.A record of the individual heat of st
29、eel in each lot shall bemaintained. The containers shall be coded to permit identifi-cation of the lot.11.2 When specified in the purchase order, the manufacturershall furnish a test report of the last complete set of chemicalanalysis and mechanical tests for each stock size in eachshipment.11.3 Whe
30、n tests of individual shipments are required,Supplementary Requirement S1 must be specified in theinquiry and order.11.3.1 When the purchaser does not specify the samplingplan and basis of acceptance, the following shall apply:11.3.1.1 The lot, for purposes of selecting samples, shallconsist of all
31、products offered for inspection and testing at onetime, that are of the same style, nominal diameter, thread pitch,nominal length, material type, and surface finish.11.3.1.2 From each lot, samples shall be selected at randomand tested for each requirement in accordance with thefollowing:Number of Pi

33、 additional samples shall conform to the specificationor the lot shall be rejected.11.3.1.4 If the failure of a test specimen is due to improperpreparation of the specimen or an incorrect testing technique,the specimen shall be discarded and another test specimensubmitted.11.4 Corrosion Resistance T
34、ests:11.4.1 Unless otherwise specified, inspection for corrosionresistance shall be in accordance with the manufacturersstandard quality control practices. No specific method ofinspection is required, but the screws shall be produced fromsuitable raw material and manufactured by properly controlledp
35、ractices to maintain resistance to corrosion. When corrosiontests are required, Supplementary Requirement S4 must bespecified in the inquiry and order, except as noted in 11.4.2.11.4.2 Products that have been hot worked shall be solutionannealed and tested to determine freedom from precipitatedcarbi
36、des. Not less than one corrosion test shall be made fromeach lot. Corrosion tests shall be performed in accordance withPractices A 262, Practices A or E as applicable.12. Test Methods12.1 Chemical AnalysisThe chemical composition shallbe determined in accordance with Test Method, Practices, andTermi
37、nology A 751.12.1.1 The fastener manufacturer may accept the chemicalanalysis of each heat of raw material purchased and reported onthe raw material certification furnished by the raw materialproducer. The fastener manufacturer is not required to do anyfurther chemical analysis testing, provided tha
38、t precise heat lottraceability has been maintained throughout the manufacturingprocess on each lot of fasteners produced and delivered.12.2 Mechanical Tests:12.2.1 For socket strength torque test, the test screw shall beassembled into a tapped hole of 5H tolerance class in a steelblock (Fig. 1) unti

44、sion ResistanceWhen specified on the pur-chase order or inquiry, corrosion tests to determine freedomfrom precipitated carbides shall be performed in accordancewith Practices A 262, Practice A or E as applicable.13. Inspection13.1 If the inspection described in 13.2 is required by thepurchaser, it s
45、hall be specified in the inquiry, order, or contract.13.2 The inspector representing the purchaser shall havefree entry to all parts of the manufacturers works that concernthe manufacture of the material ordered. The manufacturershall afford the inspector all reasonable facilities to satisfy thatthe
46、 material is being furnished in accordance with this speci-fication. All tests and inspection required by the specificationthat are requested by the purchasers representative and pur-chase order shall be made prior to shipment and shall be soconducted as not to interfere unnecessarily with the opera
47、tionof the work.14. Rejection and Rehearing14.1 Screws that fail to conform to the requirements of thisspecification may be rejected by the purchaser. Rejection shallbe reported to the supplier promptly and in writing. In case ofdissatisfaction with the results of tests or inspection authorizedby th
48、e purchaser, the supplier may make claim for a rehearing.15. Certification15.1 Test ReportThe manufacturer shall maintain on filefor a period of 5 years the original test report, including a copyof the certified chemical analysis of the heat of material usedand the results of the required testing fo
49、r the lot of fasteners.15.2 Manufacturers Certificate of ConformanceThemanufacturer shall maintain on file for a period of 5 years acertificate indicating that the lot of fasteners was manufacturedand tested in accordance with this specification and conformsto all specified requirements.15.3 When requested by the purchaser, submission of copiesof the test report, manufacturers certificate or an extension ofthe 5-year document retention period shall be performed asagreed between the manufacturer and the purchaser at the timeof the inquiry or order.16.
