Significance and Use5.1 The padding shall be constructed to yield the valueslisted in Table 1 throughout the impact area under the condi-tions of the manufacturers warranty.5.2 Special requirements for the padding shall be subj
8、ect topurchase agreements. Special requirements shall never reduceany of the basic requirements listed in this standard.5.3 Good manufacturing practices shall be used in theconstruction and inspection of the padding.6. Performance Requirements6.1 The requirements listed in this section and in Table
9、1 areminimal for new and reconditioned padding.6.2 Shock Absorption:6.2.1 Determine the shock absorption properties of thepadding in accordance with instrumentation of SpecificationF 1292.6.2.2 The maximum gmaxvalues for the padding shall notexceed 200 and the HIC shall not exceed 1000 as listed inT
10、able 1. Lower values for gmaxand HIC indicate bettershock-absorbing values.NOTE 3Under the specified test conditions (that is, missile size,impact velocity, and so forth), lower gmaxvalues indicate better shock-absorbing properties.6.3 ThicknessThe thickness of the new or reconditionedpadding shall
11、be sufficient to provide the shock-absorptionproperties listed in Table 1.7. General Requirements7.1 Wall padding is normally produced in sections that areassembled prior to use. The padding shall be installed such thatthese sections are fastened securely together to prevent themfrom becoming separa
12、ted during use. (WarningAreas ofpadding missing coating or covering are considered healthhazards.)8. Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations8.1 Padding should be used on walls and other facilityfeatures in or around the playing area that an athlete mightcontact during play.1This specification i

Specimen Preparation9.1 The test specimens shall be representative of the fin-ished padding, a section cut from a finished pad
16、, or a smallersample made at the same time and with the same constructionand materials as the pad.10. Test Methods10.1 Conduct the tests at a temperature of 23 6 2C (73.4 63.6F) and 50 6 5 % relative humidity, unless otherwisespecified.10.2 The shock absorption properties of the mats shall bedetermi
17、ned using Specification F 1292 with the followingconditions:10.2.1 Laboratory and field test.10.2.2 Impact velocities of 498 6 22 cm/s (215 6 9 in./s).4 ft drop height.NOTE 4Impact velocity, rather than a drop height, is specified toeliminate the problem of friction on the guide rails of the missile
18、. Minoramounts of friction can be overcome by simply increasing the drop height.Cleaning or lubricating, or both, the guide rods and bearing will normallyeliminate greater amounts of friction.11.
