Whilethe American Welding Society administers t
8、he process and establishes rules to promote fairness in the development ofconsensus, it does not independently test, evaluate, or verify the accuracy of any information or the soundness of anyjudgments contained in its standards. Further, given the rapid changes in the field, AWS cannot warrant that

Education and Experience Requirements5.1 The education and experience requirements for certi-fied welding supervisors are listed in Section 6 of AW
24、SB 5.9:2006, Specification for the Qualification of Weld-ing Supervisors.5.2 The AWS Certification Department shall reviewand/or verify the education and experience of each appli-cant based on the information submitted with the appli-cation. If the application is incomplete or the applicantdoes not
25、meet the education and experience criteria, theapplicant shall be notified that he/she does not qualify totake the examination.6. Examination Requirements6.1 Applicants shall meet the applicable examinationrequirements to be considered for certification as an AWSCertified Welding Supervisor (CWS).6.
26、1.1 CWS candidates shall pass (with a minimum of70% correct answers) the CWS written examination(s)on the subjects and tasks listed in Annex A of AWSB5.9:2006, Specification for the Qualification of WeldingSupervisors. Subject weights are listed in Annex A.6.1.2 The examinations shall consist of an
27、open bookexamination on fundamentals of welding supervision,consisting of 150 multiple-choice questions, and an openbook examination on welding practices and economics,consisting of 30 multiple-choice questions. Two hours oftime are allowed to complete each of the examinations.6.2 The weighting for
28、the subject areas specified inAnnex A of AWS B5.9:2006, Specification for the Qual-ification of Welding Supervisors, are listed belowexpressed in terms of approximate percentage of ques-tions used on the written examinations.1. Knowledge of welding supervision 5%2. Understanding of drawings and spec
29、ifications 10%3. Knowledge of base material and welding materials 5%4. Familiarity with welding, brazing, cutting equip-ment, theory, and application 5%5. Knowledge of safety requirements 10% 6. Certification7.1 The American Welding Society shall issue to eachCWS applicant who meets all requirements of this stan-dard a serialized certificate and wallet car
31、d stating theapplicant has met the AWS certification requirements.The initial period of certification shall be valid for three(3) years.7.2 Certification becomes effective on the first day of themonth following the date that the examination is scored,and expires on the first day of that month, 3 yea
32、rs later.For purposes of renewal and recertification, an expirationgrace period of 30 days exists from the expiration date.8. Revocation8.1 The Certification Committee shall have the power tosuspend, refuse the renewal of, or revoke the CWS certifi-cation for misrepresentation of facts regarding per
33、sonalqualification and status relating to certification as a weld-ing supervisor whether such misrepresentation was madeat the time of application or on subsequent applications,renewals, and so forth.8.2 The Committee may apply to any court of competentjurisdiction for further enforcement of its adm
34、inistrativedecisions and rulings.9. ReinstatementReinstatement of a revoked certificate shall be allowedwith no penalty or prejudice to the individual, providedthe cause for such revocation has been rectified to thecommittees satisfaction.10. Renewal10.1 The period of validity for the AWS CWS creden
35、-tials is three (3) years. 10.2 Prior to the end of three years, certificate holdersshall renew the certification if they wish to maintain theirCWS credentials. Renewal requires written documenta-AWS QC13:20063tion to support evidence of continued activity in theoccupational position of welding supe
36、rvisor. 10.3 If the certification is allowed to lapse beyond thegrace period, renewal is not permitted. A new applicationfor certification shall be submitted, and the educationaland examination requirements of Section 5 and 6.1 shallbe met.11. Recertification11.1 After two (2) consecutive renewals (
37、total of nine (9)years of continuous certification), the certificate holder isrequired to recertify to maintain CWS credentials bymeeting the requirements of 11.1.1 and 11.1.2.11.1.1 Documentation to support evidence of contin-ued activity in the occupational position of weldingsupervisor shall be p
38、rovided.11.1.2 The certificate holder shall successfully passthe CWS written examinations as defined in 6.1 or beexempt from the exam by applying 11.2.11.2 As an alternative to 11.1.2, the certificate holdermay demonstrate continued education in subject areasidentified in Section 4 of AWS B5.9 equiv
39、alent to 80professional development hours (PDH) over the nine (9)year period of certification with 20 PDH being com-pleted in the immediate three (3) year period precedingthe 9-year recertification.12. Responsibility12.1 The responsibility for the maintenance (renewal andrecertification) of AWS cert
40、ification is solely with thecertificate holder. Failure to maintain a current address1with the AWS Certification Department and subsequentfailure of notification shall not be considered adequatejustification to allow an extension of the certificationvalidity date.12.2 As a courtesy, the AWS Certific
41、ation Departmentwill attempt to notify each CWS of the expiration of thecertification and the requirements of renewal or recertifi-cation. Notices shall be mailed approximately 90 days inadvance of the expiration date of the certification.1NOTIFICATION OF ADDRESS CHANGE(S) TO AWS:Notify the AWS Cert
