12、 to 8BS4656-10:1975 ii BSI 11-1999 Foreword This Part of this British Standard has been prepared under the authority of the Mechanical Engineering Industry Standards Committee and implements agreements of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This Part of the standard is generall

13、y in accordance with ISO2423 “Test conditions for radial drilling machines with the arm adjustable in height-testing of the accuracy”, which the United Kingdom voted against but which UK industry now considers acceptable. This standard varies from ISO2423 in the following respects. Clauses. Clauses1

14、 to4 contain the same information as is given in ISO2423 but they are expressed more in accordance with accepted English usage. Clause5 has been added. Inch dimensions. In accordance with the UK policy of metrication, inch dimensions given in ISO2423 have not been included in this British Standard.

15、Tests. The note in column 6 of test G0 has been added by way of clarification. In test G4 the phrase “at the mouth of taper” has been replaced by “adjacent to the spindle nose”. In test G5, in order to ensure that the squareness of the spindle is checked in two planes, provision is made for the dial

16、 gauge being moved through four points of contact 90 apart instead of two points 180 apart to enable the squareness of the spindle to be checked in two planes instead of one plane. Tables. Throughout the text of the tables there have been minor changes in wording to achieve greater compliance with E

17、nglish usage without alteration in meaning. In column 6 of Table 1 andTable 2, reference to ISO/R 230 “Machine tool test code” has been replaced by reference to BS3800 “Methods for testing the accuracy of machine tools”. In certain parts of column 3 in Table 1, superfluous headings denoting sub-unit

18、s of the machine have been deleted. The headings concerned are “ A Base plate” (test G0), “B Arm” (test G2) and “C Spindle” (test G4). A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application.

19、Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. This will be indicated in the amendment table on the inside front cover.BS4656-10:1975 BSI 11-1999 1 1 Scope This Part of this British Standard specifies, with reference to BS 3800, both geometrical and practical tests for drilling machines of the radial type and g

21、ives corresponding permissible deviations which apply. This standard is applicable to machines of general purpose use and normal accuracy. It deals only with the verification of accuracy of the machine. It does not apply to the testing of the running of the machine (vibrations, abnormal noises, stic

22、k-slip motion of components etc.) not to its characteristics (speeds, feeds etc.) which should generally be checked before testing accuracy. 2 References The title of the British Standard referred to in this standard is given on page 8. 3 Application of test methods 3.1 In applying the tests detaile

23、d in Table 1 and Table 2, reference should be made to BS 3800, especially concerning the installation of the machine before testing, warming up of spindles and other moving parts, the description of measuring methods and the recommended accuracy of testing equipment. 3.2 The tests may be applied in

24、any order that is practicable and that makes for ease of mounting of instruments or gauging. The sequence in which the geometrical tests are listed in Table 1 is related to the sub-assemblies of the machine and it is not intended to impose the practical order in which the tests are to be done. 3.3 I

25、t is not always necessary for all the tests specified in this standard to be carried out. The purchaser shall be at liberty to select, in agreement with the manufacturer, those tests relating to the properties that are of interest to him. The appropriate tests are to be clearly stated when the machi

26、ne is ordered. 3.4 When establishing the tolerance for a measuring range different from that given in this standard (see2.3.11 of BS 3800:1964), it should be taken into consideration that the minimum value of tolerance is0.01mm for geometrical and practical tests. 3.5 Unless otherwise specified, geo

27、metrical tests are carried out at the following positions: arm set at mid-travel on the column and saddle set at mid-travel on the arm. 4 Abbreviations For the purposes of this standard, various methods of expressing permissible deviations are employed, each having a particular type of application.

28、The methods employed are as follows. 5 Diagrams For reasons of simplicity the diagrams in this standard illustrate only one type of machine. -/- This type of expression applies to deviations of perpendicularity that are ratios. -for any length of- This type of expression applies to deviations of str

29、aightness and parallelism, and is used in fact for local permissible deviations, the measurement length being obligatory. -per- This type of expression applies to deviations of straightness and parallelism and is used to recommend a measurement length, but in this case the proportionality rule comes

Dial gauges and load cell It is unnecessary to follow the test code BS 3800. A drilling test shall not be carrie d out but an axial force F (applied agains

42、t a box table placed on the base plate) shall be exerted on the spindle nose. The test shall be carried out with the saddle in its extreme position on the arm, the arm being set at the top of the column and with the base plate bolted to the machine foundation. The application of force F and the meas

43、urement of the deflection under load of the axis of the spindle in relation to the table surface shall be made directly on the spindle nose with the aid of special equipment A mounted directly on the spindle nose. The base B of the load cell shall be of sufficient area and rigidity to eliminate any

44、deformation of the box table. The value of force F to be exerted shall be specified by the manufacturer. In the absence of a specified load, reference shall be made to the graph given in Appendix A to determine the load as a function of the drilling capacity of the machine. Spindle retracted. Saddle
