The design of fittings specified in this standard has been proof tested in association with type 2 hoses specified in ISO DIS6805-2 1
、) , which will be published as a British Standard, and in accordance with the test method described in BS5173-2. It is the duty of the designer and/or manufacturer to ensure that unspecified dimensions, materials and production processes are compatible with rated pressure and service conditions, e.g

、 1) In preparation.BS6537:1984 BSI 01-2000 1 1 Scope This British Standard specifies the dimensions of the male to female interface of a range of staple type connectors and adaptors used with rigid and flexible tubing in fluid power systems, primarily in the mining and other heavy industries. Method
、s and materials of construction to withstand specific pressures are also specified. The standard also illustrates and specifies leading dimensions for a basic range of connector types, examples of which are illustrated, having bodies which are forged, fabricated or machined from solid bar, but with
、no restriction as to the form of additional connectors, including adaptors designed to interface with threaded systems. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Designation The connectors shall be designated by the nominal sizes listed in
、Table 1 and subsequentTable 2 toTable 8. 3 Pressure rating The rated pressure for which each connector is suitable shall be as specified inTable 1. Table 1 Range of nominal sizes and their pressure ratings 4 Component construction 4.1 Assembly The connectors shall comprise the components shown assem
、bled inFigure 1 and detailed in4.2 to4.5. 4.2 Female body (swivel or fixed), and male body 4.2.1 Dimensions. The interface dimensions of these components shall be in accordance withTable 2 andFigure 2. NOTE 1The dimensions specified inTable 2 are after-plating dimensions; actual machining dimensions
、 will therefore have to take account of plating thicknesses in order to achieve the specified finished dimensions. NOTE 2Alternative fastening of swivel collars to that shown in Figure 2 may be used providing the performance meets, or exceeds, the values stated inTable 1 and that interchangeability
、is not affected. 4.2.2 Material. The material used in the manufacture of these components shall be a wrought steel complying with section2.1 or section2.2 of BS 970-1:1983, having the following minimum mechanical properties: R m = 360 N/mm 2 2) R e = 250N/mm 22) HB= 103 The use of lead additives sha
、ll be at the discretion of the manufacturer. NOTEType 220M07 carbon free cutting steel meets this requirement. 4.2.3 Manufacture. The components shall be: a) manufactured from forgings; b) machined from bar stock; or c) fabricated by welding, silver brazing or copper fusion. Forgings shall be normal
、ized and de-scaled. Welding shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant requirements specified in BS5135. Fabrication by silver brazing and copper fusion shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant requirements of BS1723; copper fusion being performed in a controlled atmosphere. 4.
、2.4 Surface treatment. The components shall be zinc plated and fully chromate passivated in accordance with the requirements of BS1706, classB (Zn3). NOTEA higher standard of protection may be necessary, if service conditions are severe. See also4.2.1 note 1. 4.2.5 Surface texture. The surface textu
、re of the sealing surfaces shall not exceed the values shown inFigure 2, measured in accordance with BS1134-1. 4.3 “O”-ring seal 4.3.1 Dimensions. The dimensions and the tolerances of the “O”-ring seals shall be in accordance withTable 3 and Figure 3. Nominal size a Design dynamic pressure rating, c
