20、dom.EN1443:2003(E) 5 Introduction Thedevelopmentofheatingapplianceswhichhasprogressedintherecentyearsduetotheneedofsavingenergy andprotectingtheenvironmentwasparalleledbytechnicaldevelopmentofchimneys.Therefore,newadditional requirementsforchimneysarenecessary,e.g.operationwithpositivepressure,opera
21、tionwiththeformationof condensate. Chimneysconsistofdifferentcomponentswhichcanbeassembled,e.g.either assystemchimneys,thatisinstalledusingacombinationofcompatiblechimneycomponents,obtainedor specifiedfromonemanufacturingsourcewithproductresponsibilityforthewholechimney,or ascustombuiltchimneys,that
22、isinstalledorbuiltonsiteinaccordancewithanexecutionstandardorlocal buildingregulations,usingacombinationofcompatiblechimneycomponentsthatcanbefromoneormore sources. ThisEuropeanStandardcoversbothcases.AnnexAliststherelevantperformancerequirementsforsystem chimneysandcustombuiltchimneys. ThisEuropean
23、Standardspecifiesadesignationschemeforchimneyswhichconsiderscombinationsbetween heatingapplianceandchimney.Thisschemetakesintoaccountforexampledifferentclimaticconditionsand differentfuels. Theabilityofachimneytopreventignitionofadjacentcombustiblematerialsandtopreventthespreadoffireto adjacentareas
