22、dspecifiesthescalenumbersandtransmittancerequirementsforfiltersintendedtoprotect operatorsperformingworkinvolvingwelding,brazewelding,airarcgougingandplasmajetcutting.Italsoincludes requirementsforweldingfilterswithdualscalenumbers. TheotherapplicablerequirementsforthesetypesoffiltersaregiveninEN166

23、.Therequirementsforthe frames/mountingstowhichtheyareintendedtobefittedaregiveninEN175. GuidanceontheselectionanduseofthesefiltersaregiveninAnnexA. Manyfactorsareinvolvedinselectingthescalenumberofaprotectivefilterwhich

40、issuitableforweldingorrelated techniques. Forgasweldingandrelatedtechniques ,suchasbrazewelding,thisEuropeanstandardreferstotheflow ratethroughtheburners; Forarcwelding,airarcgouging,andplasmajetcutting ,thecurrentisanessentialfactorinmakingan accuratechoicepossible. Inaddition,forarcwelding,thetype

41、ofarcandthetypeofparentmetalarealsotobetakenintoconsideration. Otherparametershaveasignificantinfluence,butitisdifficulttoevaluatetheireffect.Theseare,inparticular: thepositionoftheoperatorinrelationtotheflameorthearc.Forexample,dependingonwhethertheoperator leansoverhisworkoradoptsanarmslengthposit

42、ion,avariationofatleastonescalenumbercanbe necessary; local lighting; thehumanfactor. Forthesevariousreasons,thisEuropeanStandardonlygivesthosescalenumberswhichconfirmedpractical experiencehasshowntobevalidinnormalcircumstancesforthepersonalprotectionofoperatorswithnormal sight,carryingoutworkofaspe

43、cifiedtype. Thescalenumberofthefiltertobeusedcanbereadfromthetables,attheintersectionofthecolumn, correspondingtothegasflowrateorthecurrent,andtheline,specifyingtheworktobecarriedout.
