21、 BSI 1997 1 Scope This standard specifies a method to give information regarding the resistance of the adhesive masking tape to paint solvents. 2 Definition For the purposes of this standard, the following definition applies. resistance to solvents The ability of a tape to resist exposure to such co
22、nditions after application and still perform satisfactorily. 3 Principle Examination of a glass plate to which the adhesive masking tape has been applied for evidence of adhesive transfer, after solvents have been applied to the exposed adhesive masking tape surface. 4 Materials 4.1 Solvent mixture
23、no. 1: Butyl acetate 40 volumes Toluene 25 volumes Amyl acetate 10 volumes Butyl alcohol 25 volumes 4.2 Solvent mixture no. 2: Xylene 90 volumes Butyl alcohol 10 volumes 4.3 Cleaning materials: one of the following solvents: methanol; methyl ethyl ketone; acetone; toluene. Solvents shall be of gener
24、al-purpose chemical grade. 4.4 Diacetone alcohol 4.5 Lint-free cotton wool or tissue 5 Apparatus 5.1 Glass plate at least 150 mm long. 5.2 Polished cylindrical metal roller with a diameter of at least 50 mm and a mass corresponding to 2 kg per centimetre width of adhesive tape under test. 5.3 Droppe
25、r to dispense 0,04 ml of solutions. 6 Test sample and test pieces Condition the sample roll for 24 h at 23 C 2C and 50 % 5 % relative humidity. Discard the three outer turns of adhesive tape from the roll before taking test pieces. Take two test pieces at least 300 mm long from each sample roll. 7 P
26、rocedure 7.1 Standard test conditions The test shall be carried out at 23 C 2C and 50 % 5 % relative humidity. 7.2 Preparation of plate Wipe the test surface of the glass plate with a fresh piece of cotton wool or tissue saturated with diacetone alcohol. Dry the plate with fresh cotton wool, then wi
27、pe the test surface with a fresh piece of cotton wool saturated with one of the solvents given in 4.3. Dry the plate with with fresh cotton wool. Maintain the plate at a temperature of 23 C 2 C for at least 5 min before proceeding. 7.3 Application of test pieces Apply a test piece of adhesive tape t
28、o the glass plate so that there are at least 150 mm of adhesive tape on the plate and at least 150 mm overhanging one end. Apply the test piece progressively by gentle longitudinal finger strokes in such a way that the formation of air bubbles between adhesive tape and plate is avoided, without, how
29、ever, exerting appreciable pressure on the adhesive tape. The test piece shall be centred on the plate such that the edge of the test piece is parallel to the long edge of the plate. Pass the roller over the surface of the adhesive tape, to and fro, twice in each direction, at a speed of approximate
30、ly 10 mm/s. Leave the adhesive tape adhered to the plate for 10 min in the standard test conditions and then test as described below. Place five 0,04 ml quantities of solvent mixture no. 1 centrally on the test piece at 25 mm intervals, taking care to prevent the solvent mixture from reaching the ed
31、ges of the adhesive tape. Allow the assembly to stand for 2 h in a draught-free atmosphere at a temperature of 23 C 2 C. 7.4 Stripping of test piece off the plate Remove the test piece from the plate, by pulling the overhanging end so that the test piece peels at right angles to the plate at a speed
32、 of approximately 25 mm in 10 s. 7.5 Make a similar test on a different piece of adhesive tape, using solvent mixture no. 2.Page 4 EN 12036 : 1996 BSI 1997 8 Expression of results Examine the plate and note the number of places on the test surface where a transfer of adhesive has occurred. 9 Test re
33、port The test report shall include the following information: a) a reference to this European Standard; b) all information necessary to identify the test sample; c) the date of the test; d) the results obtained; e) any operation not specified in this European Standard which may influence the results
