CGSB is engaged in th

3、e production of voluntary standards in a wide range of subject areas through the media of standards committees and the consensus process. The standards committees are composed of representatives of relevant interests including producers, consumers and other users, retailers, governments, educational

4、 institutions, technical, professional and trade societies, and research and testing organizations. Any given standard is developed on the consensus of views expressed by such representatives. The Ministers Advisory Council on CGSB reviews the results of the consensus process. CGSB has been accredit

5、ed by the Standards Council of Canada as a national standards-writing organization. The standards that it develops and offers as National Standards of Canada conform to the criteria and procedures established for this purpose by the Standards Council of Canada. In addition to standards it publishes

6、as national standards, CGSB produces standards to meet particular needs, in response to requests from a variety of sources in both the public and private sectors. Both CGSB standards and national standards developed by CGSB are developed in conformance with the policies described in the Policy Manua

7、l for the Development and Maintenance of Standards by CGSB. CGSB standards are subject to review and revision at any time, so as to ensure that they keep abreast of technological progress. Suggestions for their improvement, which are always welcome, should be brought to the notice of the standards c

8、ommittees concerned. Changes to standards are issued either as separate amendment sheets or in new editions of standards. An up-to-date listing of CGSB standards, including details on latest issues and amendments, and ordering instructions, will be found in the CGSB Catalogue, which is published ann

SCOPE 1.1 T

28、his standard applies to unpigmented sealer intended primarily for use on interior resilient and nonresilient floors other than those of wood or cork. 1.2 Sealers manufactured to this standard are intended for use in sealing resilient and nonresilient surfaces. These sealers may be used prior to the

29、application of maintenance finishes or as stand-alone sealer finishes. Type 1 solvent-based sealer should be used only on nonresilient surfaces such as concrete, terrazzo, marble, magnesite, ceramic and slate. Type 2 water-based sealer may be used on resilient surfaces such as asphalt, linoleum, vin

30、yl, vinyl composites, rubber and mastic, or on nonresilient surfaces as recommended by the manufacturer. Type 2 water-based sealer is the recommended choice in fire-hazard areas such as furnace rooms and where there is an open flame, and in hospital and food-processing areas where solvent fumes are

31、not permitted. The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this standard has the responsibility to consu

32、lt the appropriate authorities and to establish appropriate health and safety practices in conjunction with any existing applicable regulatory requirements prior to its use. 1.3 2. CLASSIFICATION 3.1 Sealers shall be supplied in the following types, as specified (par. 8.1): 3.1.1 Types Type 1 - Solvent-

37、.3 5.7 21 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS The sealer shall consist of a low-viscosity solution or a low-viscosity water emulsion, according to type, based on suitable resins. The sealer shall satisfactorily seal the pores of resilient and nonresilient floor surfaces, and/or shall provide the necessary foundati

38、on for the application of antislip floor finish. The sealer shall withstand storage in the original unopened container at normal room temperature for at least one year after shipment, without significant change from the original state or colour, and without showing tendency to “body” materially. DET

39、AILED REQUIREMENTS Flash Point (Type 1 only) - When tested in the Tag Closed Tester in accordance with ASTM D 56, the sealer shall show a flash point of not less than 38C. Viscosity - When tested in accordance with ASTM D 1545, the sealer shall show a viscosity of not more than 5.0 mm2/s (Viscosity

40、not exceeding Gardner-Holdt Letter A4 is acceptable) (Note 1). Non-volatile Content - When tested in accordance with ASTM D 1644, Method A, the content of non-volatile matter shall not be less than 12%. Drying Time - When tested in accordance with CGSB standard 1-GP-71, Method 5.1, by applying a wet

41、 film using a fixed-blade applicator with a clearance of 0.05 mm, the dry hard time shall not be more than 60 min. Sediment - When tested in accordance with CGSB standard 25-GP-1, Method 5.1, Type 1 sealer shall show no visible sediment. Type 2 sealer shall not contain more than 0.15% sediment. Coio

42、ur Colour us Received (Type I only) - When tested in accordance with ASTM D 1544, the colour of the sealer shall be a maximum of 1 when measured according to the Gardner Colour Scale. Colour of Evaporated Film - When tested in accordance with CGSB standard i-GP-71, Method 12.1, the colour of a dried

43、 film of the sealer shall be clear with no yellowness. The colour difference (AE) of a white carrara glass before and after application of the sealer, using the fixed-blade applicator with a 0.08 mm clearance, shall not exceed 4 units. Colour stability - When tested in accordance with CGSB standard

44、1-GP-71, Method 120.3, a carrara glass panel coated with the sealer, using a fixed-blade applicator with a 0.05 mm clearance, and exposed for 100 h in a Fade- Ometer, shall not show significant colour change of the film. The colour difference (AE) between the film after exposure and the original whi

45、te carrara glass shall not exceed 5 units. Chemical Resistance - When tested in accordance with par. 7.2.1, dried films of the sealer shall withstand the following chemical reagents without showing any damage more severe than slight whitening: Test Liquid Contact Time Water 18h Acid, 2% solution 6h

Labelling - The label shall comply with the requirements of any relevant Government Acts and Regulations. Environmental claims and/or representations shall follow the Department of Consumer and Corporate Affairs “Principles and Guidelines for Environmental Labelling and Advertising.” INSPECT
