The CGSB is engaged in the pr

4、oduction of voluntary standards in a wide range of subject areas through the media of standards committees and the consensus process. The standards committees are composed of representatives of relevant interests including producers, consumers and other users, retailers, governments, educational ins

5、titutions, technical, professional and trade societies, and research and testing organizations. Any given standard is developed on the consensus of views expressed by such representatives. The Minister?s Advisory Council on CGSB reviews the results of the consensus process. The CGSB has been accredf

6、ied by the Standards Council of Canada as a national standards-wnting organization. The standards that it develops and offers as National Standards of Canada conform to the criteria and procedures established for this purpose by the standards Council of Canada In addition to standards it publishes a

7、s national standards, the CGSB produces standards to meet particular needs, in response to requests from a vanety of sources in both the public and private sectors. Both CGSB standards and national standards developed by the CGSB are developed in conformance with the policies described in the Policy

8、 Manual for the Development and Maintenance of Standards by CGSB. CGSB standards are subject to rewew and rewsion at any time, so as to ensure that they keep abreast of technological progress. Suggestions for their improvement, which are always welcome, should be brought to the notice of the standar

9、ds commmees concerned. Changes to standards are issued either as separate amendment sheets or in new editions of standards. An up-to-date listing of CGSB standards, including details on latest issues and amendments, and ordering instructions, will be found in the Catalogue of Standards and Qualifica

It is identical in content and layout with the International Standard IS0 8160, Textiles - Textured filament yams -Vocabulary, published in 1987-03-15 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The International Standard was reviewed by the CGSB committee to determine its

40、 suitability for Canadian use. It was agreed to use it in totai, without ediorial changes. Throughout this standard, the words National Standard of Canada“ are to be understood as replacing the words “International Standard“ wherever they appear. 45、s them in terms of the processes by which they are produced. 2 Terms and definitions 2.1 textured filament yarn : Multi- or monofilament yarn characterized by twist and/or crimp by which it has, or can develop by after-treatment, stretch and/or bulk-properties. 2.2 bi-shrinkage yarn : Yarn obtained

46、by a process in which two groups of filaments with different shnnkage properties are combined, the crimp being completdy or partially developed : in the lanw case the development is realized with a subsequent treatment. usually a heat treatment. 2.3 bi-component yarn: Yarn obtained by a process in w

47、hich filaments with a cross-section containing two com- ponents having different chemical or physical properties are used. The crimp is either completely devdoped. partially developed or latent. In the last two cases the development is realized with a subsequent treatment. 2.4 draw-textured yam : Te

48、xtured yarn made by a process in which the drawing stage of man-made yarn is wholly or partly combined with the texturizing process on a single machine. 2.5 compression chamber crimped yarn : Yarn textured by a process itl which it is overfed and compressed into a heated chamber. 2.6 gear-crimped yarn: Yam textured by a process in which it is heated and crimped between toothed wheels. 2.7 false-twist textured yarn : Yarn textured by a process in which the yarn is highly Nnsted. heat set and untwisted by continuous process.
