9、DIN 55473: 1984-07, 1989-07, 1997-12, 2001-02, 2008-10 DIN 55473:2015-12 4 1 Scope This standard applies to adsorptive desiccants in bags which are sufficiently permeable to water vapour, for use in packaging with a low water vapour permeability. The purpose of these specifications is to provide uni
10、form criteria for the evaluation of the efficiency of desiccant bags. Desiccant bags are intended to protect packaged goods from excessive atmospheric humidity during transport and storage, in order to prevent corrosion, attack by mould, etc. 2 Normative references The following documents, in whole

18、cale or smaller, regardless of whether these bags are produced by the manufacturer himself or on his behalf, with a view to placing the bags on the market in his own name 4 Requirements 4.1 Desiccants 4.1.1 General Desiccants are characterized solely by their physical and chemical properties. Desicc
19、ants (e.g. activated clay, aluminium silicate, silica gel, alumina gel; granules or beads) shall be free of impurities and shall not deliquesce. 4.1.2 pH value of the aqueous extract The pH value of an aqueous extract from the desiccant shall neither be below 3,5 nor exceed 8,5. Testing shall be as
20、in 5.2.1. 4.1.3 Electrical conductivity of the aqueous extract The electrical conductivity in an aqueous extract of the desiccant shall not exceed 0,3SmTesting shall be as in 5.2.1. 4.1.4 Content of water-soluble substances The mass fraction of water-soluble substances in the desiccant shall not exc
21、eed 2 %. Testing shall be as in 5.2.2. 4.1.5 Particle size The particle size distribution of the desiccant shall be 100 % for particles 16 0,10 g H2O Testing shall be as in 5.3.3. 4.2.3 Volume The volume per desiccant unit shall not exceed 45 cm3. Testing shall be as in 5.3.2. 4.2.4 Mass The mass pe
22、r desiccant unit shall not exceed 39 g. Testing shall be as in 5.3.2. 4.3 Desiccant bag 4.3.1 Wrapping material The wrapping material shall be woven fabric, paper, non-woven fabric or another material sufficiently permeable to water vapour and sufficiently strong to comply with the requirements spec
23、ified in Clauses 4 and 5. Testing of the strength of the filled bag shall be as in 5.4.2. DIN 55473:2015-12 7 4.3.2 Type of bags There are two types of bags. a) Type A: low-dust No more than 10 mg of dust per desiccant unit shall migrate through the wrapping material. Testing shall be as in 5.4.1. b
24、) Type B: dustproof Regardless of the number of desiccant units in the bag, no more than 1 mg of dust shall be detectable after testing. Testing shall be as in 5.4.1. 4.3.3 Number of desiccant units (TME) per desiccant bag (TMB) The desiccant bags contain either (1/6, 1/3, 1/2, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 or 32)
25、 desiccant units. 4.4 Designation A desiccant bag with 2 desiccant units (2 E) of the low-dust type (A) is designated as follows: Desiccant DIN 55473 2 E A 5 Testing 5.1 General The tests shall be carried out quickly in order to keep the influence of air humidity low. 5.2 Desiccants 5.2.1 pH value a
26、nd electrical conductivity of the aqueous extract 10 g of loose desiccant are refluxed in 100 ml of distilled water for 10 min, filtered after cooling and the test carried out at (20 2) C in the filtrate. 5.2.2 Content of water-soluble substances The clear filtrate obtained from the pH measurement i
27、s evaporated in an evaporating dish weighed to constant mass. After drying for 1 h at 105 C, the evaporation residue is determined gravimetrically (maximum permissible error: 5 mg). 5.2.3 Particle size For the test a screening machine is used which makes horizontal circular movements at (300 10) min
28、1 and an amplitude of 15 mm or vertical movements with an amplitude of 3 mm. A sieving medium of aperture size 6,3 mm and a sieving medium of aperture size 0,25 mm as in DIN ISO 3310-1 and DIN ISO 3310-2 with a diameter of approximately 200 mm and a lid and a receiver shall be used. 100 g of desicca
29、nt are placed in the uppermost sieve and sieved for at least 3 min using the machine. Immediately after sieving, the residue on each individual sieve and in the receiver is weighed to the nearest 0,5 g and the sieve fraction calculated as a mass fraction. The sum of the individual desiccant masses i
30、s determined after sieving and taken as the overall mass. DIN 55473:2015-12 8 5.3 Desiccant unit 5.3.1 Adsorptive capacity 5.3.1.1 Dynamic isothermal procedure Figure 1 shows the set-up of the apparatus. The head for the saturation solution bottles with tight-fitting ground-glass stopper is equipped
31、 with an inlet guide with bubble distributor and discharge tube. The bubble distributor should be between 75 mm and 25 mm below the liquid level when there is 1 l of solution in the bottle. Each of the 6 saturation bottles is to be filled with 1 l of sulfuric acid solution (H2SO4) of the same concen
32、tration, as specified in Table 2. The receiver should be a normal adsorption vessel with a suitable closure. The ambient temperature is to be kept at (23 2) C. An adsorption trap containing at least 500 cm3 of desiccant should be placed upstream of the saturation bottles in order to adsorb impuritie
33、s from the incoming air. The desiccant is to
34、 be introduced into the vessel as quickly as possible. Then the adsorption vessel containing the desiccant is to be connected to the apparatus and the stream of air regulated to (4 0,5) l/min. The maximum pressure above the atmospheric shown on the pressure gauge shall not exceed 40 mbar. During the
35、 test, the adsorption vessel is periodically removed from the apparatus and the valve closed. The adsorption vessel is to be weighed until two weighings separated by 1 h reveal a maximum difference of 10 mg. The adsorptive capacity of the sample is m. 37、e to the dynamic isothermal procedure as specified in 5.3.1.1, commercially available controlled-atmosphere chambers, capable of being calibrated, may be used. Over the whole test duration, the humidity shall be kept at 2 % relative air humidity and the temperature at 1 K. 5.3.1.3 Calculation The ad
38、sorptive capacity of a desiccant unit, AF, in the as-delivered condition at 40 % relative air humidity is calculated using Equation (1): F=mBW(1) where AFis the adsorptive capacity; mis the increase in mass, in g; mBis the filling mass of the bag, in g; mwis the initial mass of the desiccant, in g;
39、n is the number of given units in the bag. DIN 55473:2015-12 10 5.3.2 Volume and mass A 100 ml measuring cylinder shall be weighed to the nearest 0,1 g. The measuring cylinder shall be filled with approximately 100 cm3of desiccant, weighed once more and then tapped on a resilient base until the volu
40、me remains constant between two readings. The volume of the desiccant unit is calculated using Equation (2): E=BAW(2) where VEis the volume of the desiccant unit, in cm3; mBis the filling mass of the bag, in g; VAis the volume of the desiccant weighed in, in cm3; n is the number of given desiccant u
41、nits in the bag; mwis the initial mass of the desiccant, in g. The mass of the desiccant unit mEis calculated using Equation (3): E=B(3) where mEis the mass of the desiccant unit, in g; mBis the filling mass of the bag, in g; n is the number of given desiccant units in the bag. 5.3.3 Rate of adsorpt
42、ion 5.3.3.1 Test set-up The test set-up corresponds to that specified in 5.3.1.1 with the exception of the adsorption vessel. The vessel for receiving the bag shall be of a suitable size and have a sufficiently wide mouth, e.g. a desiccator (5,0 l minimum nominal capacity up to 15,0 l maximum nomina
43、l capacity). As an alternative to the test set-up as specified in 5.3.1.1, commercially available controlled-atmosphere test chambers, capable of being calibrated, may be used to generate an air stream of 40 % relative air humidity. 5.3.3.2 Procedure The bag weighed with the desiccant is, as shown i
44、n Figure 2, inserted into the vessel so that the air stream introduced at (4 0,5) l/min and 40 % relative air humidity at (23 2) C can brush evenly over its surface. 46、 of given desiccant units (TME) in the bag. 5.4 Desiccant bag 5.4.1 Dust permeability The desiccant bags are dropped flat on alternate sides 20 times from a height of 50 cm into a vessel. The vessel shall meet the following requirements: material: metal or ceramics (smooth and antistatic) dimensions
47、: 50 cm 50 cm 50 cm (L B H) colour: black (inside) DIN 55473:2015-12 12 The dust escaping from the bags shall be transferred to a weighing vessel using a brush (with natural hair). No dust shall be lost in the process. The dust shall then be weighed. Calculation: SE=S(5) where SEis the mass of escap
48、ing dust per desiccant unit, in mg per TME; Sis the weighed total mass of escaping dust, in mg; n is the number of desiccant units in the bag. 5.4.2 Strength of the bag If the desiccant bags ( 4 desiccant units) with desiccant are dropped flat on alternate sides 15 times from a height of 3 m onto a
49、smooth, non-deformable, non-resilient surface (e.g. granite, marble, steel), they shall not burst on impact or be otherwise damaged in a way that allows desiccant to escape. 6 Consignment 6.1 General Desiccant bags are to be packed in a tightly sealed group package with a humidity indicator and a suitable shipping package (e.g. boxes, plastic or steel drums). 6.2 Group
