National foreword This standard includes safety requirements. This document (EN 1846-3:2013) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 192 “Fire an
、d rescue service equipment” (Secretariat: BSI, United Kingdom), Working Group WG 3 “Firefighting and rescue service vehicles” (Secretariat: UNM, France). The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Feuerwehrwesen (Fire-fighting and Fire Protection Standards Commit
、tee), Working Committee NA 031-04-06 AA Allgemeine Anfor-derungen an Feuerwehrfahrzeuge Lschfahrzeuge SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 3. This document specifies the minimum requirements for safety and performance as well as the relevant test methods for the following permanently installed equipment on firefigh
、ting and rescue service vehicles: water installation; liquid additive installation; monitor; equipment gantries; demountable systems using a hydraulic hook arm. The legal status of this standard is as follows: This standard contains specifications meeting the essential requirements set out in Annex
、I of the “Machinery Directive”, Directive 2006/42/EC, and which apply to machines that are either first placed on the market or commissioned within the EEA. This standard serves to facilitate proof of compliance with the essential requirements of that directive. Once this standard is cited in the Of
、ficial Journal of the European Union, it is deemed a “harmonized” standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (“presumption of conformity”). A national standard (currently at draft stage as E DIN 14502-2) covers gene
、ral requirements for firefighting vehicles, which supplement DIN EN 1846-2 and DIN EN 1846-3. A proposal has been made to incorporate the information in this national standard into these two European Standards. Another national standard, DIN 14502-3, specifies requirements for the coloration and spe
、cial marking of firefighting vehicles. Because these requirements are very country-specific, they are not suitable for incorporation into a European Standard. Because this European Standard specifies only safety requirements for demountable systems with a rigid hook arm, a German draft standard (E D
、IN 14505), has been drawn up that contains the requirements in DIN 14505 that are not covered here. Because these requirements are very country-specific, they are not suitable for incorporation into a European Standard. DIN EN 1846 consists of the following parts under the general title Firefighting
、 and rescue service vehicles: Part 1: Nomenclature and designation Part 2: Common requirements Safety and performance Part 3: Permanently installed equipment Safety and performance DIN EN 1846-3:2013-11 3 Amendments This standard differs from DIN EN 1846-3:2008-11 and DIN 14505:2004-10 as follows: a
