SCOPE. 1.1 Scop
3、e. This commercial item description covers the requirements for a durable press, cotton-polyester, white smock for wear by medical assistants in a clinical environment. It can be worn either inside or outside of the trousers. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The smock shall be furnished in the following sizes: Sm

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 3.
5、1 Description. The smock shall have a notched lapel collar, button down front closure with five 18-line buttons and vertical buttonholes, left side breast patch pocket, short sleeves, and a plain back. The smock shall have topstitched hems at the sleeve bottoms, top of pocket, and bottom hem. The in
6、side seam allowance at the bottom of the sleeve hem and the ends of pocket openings shall be reinforced with 3/8 to 5/8 inch vertical bartacks. 3.2 Material. 3.2.1 Basic material. The basic material shall be a poplin, 65 (+ 3) percent polyester with the remainder cotton. The weight shall be a minimu
7、m of 4.8 ounces per square yard when tested in accordance with ASTM D-3776, Option C when finished, and treated with a durable press treatment. The color shall be a non-yellowing, bleached white. Whiteness may be supplemented by an optical brightener which fluoresces in the blue region. The yarns pe
8、r inch of the finished cloth shall be a minimum of 100 in the warp direction and 52 in the filling direction when tested in accordance with ASTM D-3775. The breaking strength of the finished cloth shall be 130 pounds minimum in the warp direction and 80 pounds minimum in the filling direction when t
9、ested in accordance with ASTM D-5034. The finished cloth shall not shrink more than 3.0 percent in the warp direction and 2.0 percent in the filling direction when tested in accordance with AATCC 135 using the permanent press washdry instructions. The finished cloth shall have a minimum appearance r
10、ating of 3.0 when tested in accordance with AATCC 124 using permanent press machine cycles and wash temperature V. The pH value of the water extract of the cured cloth shall be no less than 5.0 nor more than 9.0 when tested in accordance with Test Method 281 1 of FED-STD-19 1. The minimum tear stren
11、gth of the finished cloth shall be 5 .O Ibs. in the warp direction and 3.5 Ibs. in the filling direction when tested in accordance with ASTM D-1424. 3.2.2 Thread. The thread shall be white, cotton-covered polyester or spun polyester, Ticket No. 50 or 70, conforming to Type I of A-A-50 199. 3.2.3 But
12、tons and buttonholes. The buttons shall be size 18-line, 4-hole, pearlescent white, sewn securely to the right front to correspond with the buttonholes. The buttonholes shall be vertical straight-cut, purl, or whip type with the material securely caught in the stitching. The buttonholes shall be pla
13、ced on the left front of the smock, through the facing, 3/4 + 1/8 inch from the edge. 14、 9999974 0369734 240 A-A-5 528 8 3.3 Labels. Each smock shall have a combination size and identification label, and a care instruction label sewn inside the collar joining seam. As an alternate, one label may be used containing the size, identification, and care instructions. Commercial-type labels
15、may be used. The labels shall show good colorfastness to laundering. The care insuctions are as follows: 1. For machine washing, use wash and wear cycle or durable press cycle. Wash with moderately hot water (14WF), using soap or mild detergent. 2. For hand washing, wash in moderately hot water (1 4
16、00F) as described above. DO NOT WRING OR TWIST. 3. Dry in tumble dryer at warm setting. Remove immediately at end of drying. Shape and hang. 4. To drip dry, remove from water before last spin cycle. Shape and hang. 5. If touching up is required, iron at a moderate heat setting. DO NOT REMOVE THIS LA
17、BEL 3.4 LabeVtag. Each item shall be individually bar-coded with a paper tag for personal clothing items. The paper tag shall be standard bleached sulfate having a basis weight of 100 pounds, The paper used for the tags shall have a smooth finish to accept thermal transfer and direct printing. The t
18、ags shall have a hole and shall be attached to each item by a fastener, clearly legible and readable by a scanner. The bar coding element shall be a 13 digit national stock number (NSN). The bar code type shall be a medium to high code density and shall be located so that it is completely visible on
19、 the item when it is folded and/or packaged as specified and so that it causes no damage to the item. 3.5 Patterns. The Government shall furnish a complete set of patterns which provides for a 1/2 inch seam allowance for all seams except the collar seam which shall be 3/8 inch, The govern- ment patt
20、erns may be used to create the contractors working patterns. However, the design of.the patterns shall not be altered in any way. Commercial patterns may be used in lieu of government-furnished patterns. Minor modifications are permitted to accommodate automation. However, the design and measurement
21、s of the government-furnished patterns must be maintained for both working and commercial patterns. 3.6 Measurements. 24、erials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 5.1 Certification. The contractor shall certiQ and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of
25、 this commercial item description and conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provi
26、sions of the contract. 5.2 Market acceDtance criteria. The item offered, or a generic equivalent, must have been sold to the commercial market or to the Government for at least 2 years. 5.3 Visual examination. Each smock shall be examined for the defects listed below in accordance with ANSVASQC 21.4
27、. 5.3.1 Defects. Any hole, cut, or tear; any part shaded; any spot or stain (outside); raw edges, open seams, thread ends not removed, or loose tension resulting in loose seams; any material defects, distorted parts or poor workmanship; any component part omitted or defective; label missing, incorre
