SCOPE. This commer
3、cial item description (CID) covers an insulated electrical binding post used as a wiring termination on terminal boards and test set panels. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The electrical binding post shall be classified and identified by the types in accordance with the characteristics specified in table I. The

8、. Binding post configuration. 3.2 Materials. 3.2.1 Metal. Unless specified otherwise in the acquisition order (see 7.3(c), the current-carrying portions of the binding post shall be brass conforming to the requirements of the ASTM B16/B 16M, “Standard Specification for Free-Cutting Brass Rod, Bar an
9、d Shapes for Use in Screw Machines“. 3.2.2 Finish. Unless otherwise specified in the acquisition order (see 7.3(d), metal portions of the binding post shall be nickel plated in accordance with the SAE AMS-QQ-N-290, “Nickel Plating (Electrodeposited)“. 3.2.2.1 Solder coating. Unless otherwise specifi
10、ed in the acquisition order (see 7.3(e), the solder terminal end shall be hot solder dipped/coated. 11、be specified in the acquisition order (see 7.3(f). The insulated washers of the binding post shall be natural/milky white unless otherwise specified in the acquisition order (see 7.3(g). The insulated cap shall be the color listed in table I. 3.2.4 Cap and cap spring. The cap shall be insulated and
12、non-removable. The strength of the cap spring shall permit the cap to be depressed using a force of 5 to 10 pounds. 3.3 Dielectric withstanding voltage. When specified in the acquisition order (see 7.3(h), the insulated binding post shall be tested in accordance with method 301 of MIL-STD-202, “Test
13、 Method Standard for Electronic and Electrical Component Parts“. The following details and exceptions shall apply: a. The binding post shall be mounted on a 0.125 inch thick bare metal test mount. The binding post shall be mounted with insulators and o-rings by applying a torque of 10 2 inch-pounds.
14、 b. The magnitude of the test voltage shall be 1,200 VAC RMS. The harmonic content of the voltage shall not exceed 0.50 percent of the fundamental waveform. c. The duration of application of test voltage shall be 1 minute 5 seconds. d. The test voltage shall be applied between the conductor accommod
15、ation and the metal test mount. e. The binding post shall show no evidence of damage, arcing, or breakdown after application of the test voltage. 3.4 Contact resistance. When specified in the acquisition order (see 7.3(i), the binding post contact resistance shall be tested as follows: a. A solid AW
16、G size 16 copper conductor shall be inserted in the contact cavity. b. A test current of 1 ampere shall be passed through the contact. c. Contact resistance shall be determined by measuring the potential drop between the extreme terminal end of the binding post and the copper conductor. d. The poten
17、tial drop shall not be greater than 0.002 V. 3.5 Solderability of solder terminal end. When specified in the acquisition order (see 7.3(j), the solderability of the binding post solder terminal end shall be tested in accordance with method 208 of MIL-STD-202. 3.6 Insulation resistance. When specifie
18、d in the acquisition order (see 7.3(k), the binding post insulation resistance shall be tested in accordance with method 302 of MIL-STD-202. The following details shall apply: a. Test condition A. b. The points of measurement shall be between two mutually insulated portions. c. The insulation resist

When specified in the acquisition order (see 7.3(l), the binding post panel seal shall be tested as follows: a. The contact end of
20、 the binding post shall be immersed in tap water to a depth equivalent to six feet for a minimum of 24 hours. b. The binding post shall be examined for leakage through the mounting hole. There shall be no visible leakage. 3.8 Conductor retention. When specified in the acquisition order (see 7.3(m),
21、conductor retention shall be tested as follows: a. The assembled mounting post shall be mounted on a test panel. b. A test bar, 0.062 inch diameter drill rod, 3 inches long, closed at one end with 1/4 inch diameter loop bent so that its center is common to the axis of the bar, shall be heat treated
22、to a hardness of 45-50 on the Rockwell “C“ scale as defined in ASTM E 18, “Standard Test Methods for Rockwell Hardness and Rockwell Superficial Hardness of Metallic Materials“. This bar shall be free from burrs and have a 32 micro-finish (minimum). c. The test bar shall be inserted between the bindi
23、ng post jaws allowing 1/2 inch to project from the free end. d. Attach one end of a spring scale to the loop on the bar and apply a pull force of approximately 3 pounds to the bar through the scale along the axis of the bar. e. Gradually increase the force to 9.5 pounds 0.5 pounds. f. There shall be
24、 no breakage of the binding post and no slippage of the test bar. 4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 5.
25、 PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS 5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this CID, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace
26、. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5.2 Market acceptability. The product offered must have been previously sold either to the government or on the commercial market. 6. PACKAGING 6.1 Preservation, packing, and marking.
