4、is drawing outlines the requirements for an SAE J514 12-12 140137 S that is altered from the SAE-J514 standard part. The differences are the overall length, hex head dimension, see figure 1, and corrosion resistant steel (CRES) 304. Qualification inspection. Qualification inspection for the pipe nip
5、ple specified herein shall not be required. REQUIREMENTS Design configuration. The design, construction, and physical dimensions shall be as specified on figure 1 and SAE-J514. Material: CRES alloy 304. Solution anneal Marking: The Part or Identifying Number (PIN) shall be marked on the package in a
6、ccordance with MIL-STD-1285. The marking shall include the complete DSCC PIN, manufacturers name or CAGE code, and date code. CRES alloy 304 is susceptible to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in halides because of its relatively low nickel content. Conditions which cause SCC are: (1) pr
8、esence of halide ions (generally chloride), (2) residual tensile stresses, and (3) temperatures in excess of 120F (49C). 2. Avoid acids such as hydrofluoric or hydrochloric. 3. For material exposed inland, light industrial, or milder service, minimum maintenance is required. Only sheltered areas nee
9、d occasional washing with a stream of pressurized water. In heavy industrial areas, frequent washing is advisable to remove dirt deposits which might eventually cause corrosion. PACKAGING Packaging. For acquisition purposes, the packaging requirements shall be as specified in the contract or order.
10、When packaging of material is to be performed by DoD or in-house contractor personnel, these personnel need to contact the responsible packaging activity to ascertain packaging requirements. Packaging requirements are maintained by the Inventory Control Points packaging activities within the Militar
11、y Service or Defense Agency, or within the Military Departments System Command. Packaging data retrieval is available from the managing Military Departments or Defense Agencys automated packaging files, CD-ROM products, or by contacting the responsible packaging activity.
